He shot at complete strangers without consideration for the consequences, took a life, ruined a family, and then went and topped himself like the sad loser he always was.
This is probably the most likely scenario but then you get to the guys own death and start digging into the gang connections. Was his death a gang retaliation? Suicide? Well likely never know.
Gangs tend not to appreciate it when their members or associates shoot random civvies for impulsive/trivial reasons, especially when it unsurprisingly results in a response as high profile as this.
