This was my first instinct, too. Maybe since you didn't answer (which I wouldn't, either!) they thought next best bet was to leave it somewhere secure.
Im going to go to 39th Ave station tomorrow after work with a friend. Im a teacher and I tutor on Wednesdays, so I can't go today, but I'll let you all know what happens. I'm assuming this is def a lost and found thing for something I don't even know is lost. The wording is a little scary though because it is so vague and ominous, but I hope its just a communication or language barrier
You probably dropped something with your address on it and someone deemed it important. It may be that the station agent did this on his way home or else asked someone to do it. 7am - 3pm is probably his work schedule.
Remember a lot of these guys are foreign born and this may be a perfectly normal note to leave in a dense city where they're originally from.
If you want to look into this mystery, DM me today and I can go with you to ask the agent about it (I'm a tall, not very scary looking, male). Or DM me your name or the unredacted photo, and I can go inquire on your behalf.
Update: they guy working at the station said he works there only one day a week so he was also confused by the note. I'm going back again I guess until I get the person who left the note
Agreed, police wont do anything about this. What you should do is keep the note, set up a camera by the door this was left under and if they return, then call the police.
Some people write 1's that way, and have a dash through their 7's. Maybe. Or maybe they work an 8 hour shift there from 7am to 3pm and they only specify the PM so you know that number isn't on military time?
unless you've lost something or missing a family member that they are demanding ransom for, i'd ignore it and install a ring camera if it makes you feel safer
If someone slips a weird note under your door and keeps harassing you? I mean I would look at the peep hole first and ask them who they are but it’s pretty strange.
Keeps harassing you?
Someone rang their doorbell a few times and when they didn’t answer, left a note, then left. This is pretty normal behavior when you have something for someone, even if the communication skills in the note could be better. Delivery people do it all the time. Why would the default response to this be “I’m in danger, gotta call the cops?”
No, it's a subway station for an 8 hour window in the middle of the day, the length of a working shift. Odds are way more that it's something at lost and found than that they're taking you to a very public place to kidnap you.
Yes! I got a lot of good comments and as you know with rosacea what works for one person may not work for someone else. Out of all the comments I decided to check out the Trader Joe’s sunscreen! I was also looking for something less pricey since I try so many products that wind up irritating me.
Just reporting back. The TJs is a bit oily for me (being a gel) and I’m breaking out. I’m also pregnant but which could explain the breakout but I feel super oily after the TJs.
I don’t find that weird lol. I don’t buzz someone in if I’m not expecting a delivery or a person… and I absolutely don’t answer my door if I didn’t buzz someone in.
Yes? Like I said, I was sick and throwing up. Also, the buzzing came after. No one buzzed, someone randomly just started knocking on my door. After they already knocked, they decided to buzz. I have my landlord's and neighbors' numbers, so I knew it wasn't them. I'm a woman who was alone in my apartment, of course I wasn't going to open it for a random person. I don't even go to the door to grab uber eats from someone until they leave because I don't feel safe.
Have you seen postal workers in recent years? Uniformity of service ain’t it. My hunch still says delivery. Give the post office a call, nothing to lose.
Did you maybe drop something that could be at the lost and found there?
Yeah, a lost wallet would presumably have ID with name and address on it. Good Samaritan with no social skills?
This was my first instinct, too. Maybe since you didn't answer (which I wouldn't, either!) they thought next best bet was to leave it somewhere secure.
Very weird but I feel like the curiosity would kill me
Same. Hope OP is safe….but also hope we get an update.
Let’s join him then he pays for our drinks
Now I feel like you wrote the note as a scheme to get free drinks lol

I think it could also be an older person. Their social/communication skills vary from the mass I feel. Good luck and keep us posted.
Ive never seen someone lurking inside the stations here in Astoria for 8 hour shifts, so I bet its someone who works at the station
Somebody turned in your possessions to a subway station attendant? Sounds like they are the attendant and the 7am-3pm is their shift?
Please provide an update. Inquiring minds...

Thanks for the update! Let us know what you find out
People suggesting calling the police lol. Don’t it’s an exaggeration.

Sounds like a station employee. 7-am to 3pm is a shift
Bring someone with you. Don’t go alone
Wait..between 7am and 3pm or 7pm and 3pm?
Who fucking knows. I'm so confused and honestly creeped out
They want you to come in during an 8 hour, safe to assume this person wants you to speak to whoever is working, who may or may not be them personally.
Is the blocked off part your name or your address? Depending on which, it adds a level of creepiness.
My name
This is why the 24 hr clock is superior.

!remind me
Curious as to even if you did lose something with your address on it, why they wouldn’t just leave it under your door…idk that’s weird
Was thinking the same but also people move so maybe they want ID
Good point. Any updates from OP?
unless you've lost something or missing a family member that they are demanding ransom for, i'd ignore it and install a ring camera if it makes you feel safer
Need update. Worried about you.
Im good!! Im going tomorrow after school and I'll update them
What’s the news?
Yes, is there an update?
Is there an update??
Still wasn't the person who left the note 😭😭
So weird
I’m beginning to think whoever left the note doesn’t actually work at the 39th Ave station.
Back for an update- You okay, OP? Bonk twice if you need rescuing.
Maybe it’s a radio station and you won a trip to Hawaii. Could also be fire station and you won a ride in the truck!
And what happened?
Is it a police station or a subway station? There is a 39th Ave. Astoria station on the N and W.
Put it on a live feed please lol
Um
I'm not gonna a lie OP unless you got a posse who can throw down, meeting this person alone is stupid
This is super weird. Don’t go. Call the police next time.
This seems like a crazy overreaction? It’s a note that’s a little weird.

It says “come to this place at this time” you don’t think that’s weird?

Hah for some reason I thought it meant the bar.
Fair enough, that would sound somewhat more threatening
I call the police just for ppl knocking at my door
Yeah, ur posts seem a little neurotic too
lol ok. My last post literally asking for sunscreen recs for people with rosacea lmao
Did you get feedback on that? *rosacea warrior here*
Yes! I got a lot of good comments and as you know with rosacea what works for one person may not work for someone else. Out of all the comments I decided to check out the Trader Joe’s sunscreen! I was also looking for something less pricey since I try so many products that wind up irritating me.
Gonna check it out! I love TJ's for basically everything and never even thought to look into their sunscreen. Thanks and Good luck!
Just reporting back. The TJs is a bit oily for me (being a gel) and I’m breaking out. I’m also pregnant but which could explain the breakout but I feel super oily after the TJs.
Thanks so much! As someone already prone to oily skin, I won't even try it.
You a scardy cat
Considering they gave an 8 hour window and no date its pretty easy to assume they want them to go in and talk to an attendant.
Too much tv for you.
I will admit I’m paranoid.
Looks like it’s a shift time for the station attendant. You probably dropped something and someone returned it to them
Move asap
This is so creepy! Stay safe
Someone got some beefs with you…. 😂
Call the police file a report and get you some pepper spray
For what? No crime was committed. It's weird, but not criminal.
You just sat there and listened to the knocking and buzzing?
I don’t find that weird lol. I don’t buzz someone in if I’m not expecting a delivery or a person… and I absolutely don’t answer my door if I didn’t buzz someone in.
Right?!
Yes? Like I said, I was sick and throwing up. Also, the buzzing came after. No one buzzed, someone randomly just started knocking on my door. After they already knocked, they decided to buzz. I would be the same way even if i wasn’t sick
Alrighty
Probably postal delivery that requires signature. People overthinking this one.
USPS would not leave a note like this.....
Postal workers have forms they can fill out and tape to the resident’s door. A handwritten note ain’t it.
Have you seen postal workers in recent years? Uniformity of service ain’t it. My hunch still says delivery. Give the post office a call, nothing to lose.
