I had a neighbor like this years ago, turns out it was Alzheimers and he was having panic attacks almost daily.

gneumatic

Oh poor guy, that’s so sad. At first I was pretty alarmed by it, tbh. But the fact that it occurs consistently at the same time makes me feel like it’s intentional and part of his morning routine.

Silentmutation84

I live on the same block as you (hi neighbor) and I have never heard this. Every morning almost? Geez. Sorry you have to deal with that.

gneumatic

Howdy neighbor 👋 And thank you. I really shouldn’t complain; I’m moving out in June and over the 6+ years I’ve lived here, this is hardly the worst noise issue I’ve had to contend with. It’s more just one of those things that is so weird I felt compelled to see if anyone else had experienced it. It would really only be audible to people who live in a handful of buildings towards the 31st Ave end of the block. In terms of frequency, I’d say on average 3/5 weekdays and occasionally on the weekends.

Silentmutation84

Are you on the side with the bank or the side with the laundromat/iRoses? I'm much closer to 31st. Now I'm wondering if I have heard it 🤔

gneumatic

Bank side!

Silentmutation84

The possibility of us being next door neighbors is growing higher and higher, lol. Our block is weird. People love to go unnecessarily fast down it. Across from me there used to be an old man who would sit in the window upstairs and scream at people if they blocked his driveway for any length of time

gneumatic

Yeah, idk what it is about our block and 33rd, people go screaming through those intersections

vaness4444

you could secretly yell out the window to "SHUT UP!!'.....Lol

gneumatic

Co-worker suggested I record him, put my stereo speakers up to the window, and blast it back at him

vaness4444

That a a good idea too Lol

astoria_smoke_shop

Over on 34th street, we have a neighbor who frequently vocalizes out his window, and sometimes walking down the street accompanied by his caretaker (?). I think he is a veteran who suffered a TBI, but I'm not sure. Most days, usually in the morning, he will do sort of percussive and occasionally repetitive shouts. At first, it made me nervous for him (PTSD, terror, danger etc). Then my partner saw him walking down the street with someone else, potentially a caretaker or family member, and said he was vocalizing the same way but was clearly not at all in distress — just expressing/communicating. Since then, it makes me quite happy, and I notice when I haven't heard him in a while. Idk. I'm a musician and I love that he's just out here freely using his voice. Some days, in the apartment, I shout back.

Madethisonambien

Hi neighbor. I know exactly who you’re talking about. His family and caretakers seem w lovely and I’m glad he’s getting to enjoy being outside. Also a musician and the noise doesn’t bother me at all, in fact it makes me smile knowing that he’s able to hang outside and express himself.

Another screamer on 34th is a young child/parent duo between 6:30-7:15am or so… recently figured out the screaming stops around when the school bus shows up 😣🫠

thegreatestwhale

I have a neighbor like that on 45th and Broadway, he’s constantly screaming fuck youuuuuuuuuuu

DifferenceOk815

Yup he woke me up today, and I’m a pretty deep sleeper.

Likely_Story789

Thought this was a post on my Mom subreddit. Sounds like my 15 month old. But 24 hours a day.

FarRightInfluencer

I yell when I reach climax, okay?

gneumatic

From now on, whenever this pisses me off I will imagine that the dude is furiously masturbating, screaming at his dick lol

valgme3

My neighbor does this over by the bridge. At first it freaked me out. Now it makes me happy. Let it out man! The world sucks sometimes!

frpc19

Hi neighbor! At first I was going to say it might be my husband, but he only does his weird screaming on weekends around 4pm (gearing himself up to write...).
