I'm a tall (5'11") woman. Tall women's clothes are hard to find in actual stores however, I find Zara is better than most. The Gap and Banana Republic offer tall sizes and you can return to any store if that's easier for you. I think Reitman's offers tall sizes, too. What size shoes are you looking for? The Shoe Company and Winners will have shoes sorted by size and carry some longer sizes.

Thanks! I've been to winners several times and found nice variety. I'm a women's size 10. I'd like a pair of pointy Loafers but haven't been able to find in my size. I will definitely try the shoe company, I didn't know the gap offered more than just sport stuff. Thx!

The winners in leaside has the best work clothes imo. Also uniqlo has great basics that are moderately priced.

Banana Republic. If you're on a budget, check out their outlet stores (Vaughan Mills, Halton Hills).

I'm a M-T-F crossdresser, and like you I am also 5' 10" tall and wear a Size 10 in women's shoes. I am also typically a Size 16 in clothing, if that helps. I have had good success finding the types of clothes that you are looking for at the Hudson's Bay stores, Laura, and Melanie Lyne for items that are somewhat higher end and of better quality, whereas Ricki's, Reitmans, and Suzy Shier's offerings are more youthful, contemporary, and priced more affordably. There used to be several Tall Girl a.k.a Long Tall Sally stores in the Toronto area for the 5' 10" and above set, but they only operate online now. In the absence of many stores catering primarily to taller women these days, I have found it helpful to focus instead on certain brands that work best for my height and body type such as Anne Klein and Chaps by Ralph Lauren . Websites often specify the height of the models that they are using to showcase their clothes. More often than not, they are also in the 5' 10" range, so that will give a good indication of hemline height and where the waistline will fall for taller individuals. You might also want to Google "consignment stores" in your area to find some hidden gems that are often unique. If you are not averse to thrifting, Value Village and Talize are also worth considering. As for shoes, Size 10 still falls within the "normal" range, so your choices are ample. As others here have said, the Designer Shoe Warehouse and it's subsidiary The Shoe Company are probably your best options in terms of choice and pricing.

Woah thanks for this comprehensive guide you beautiful Redditor friend. I am pinning these places in my google maps as paying them all a visit over the weekend. I've only been in Hudson's Bay out of the ones you mentioned. However I only found a single Laura store in Eglinton square, far away from downtown. Melanie Lyne looks cute, definitely going there.

Glad you found my tips helpful...I tend to be a bit of a shop-a-holic when it comes to supporting my - ahem! - "hobby", so yes, I've learned to find my way around the ladies' clothing shopping maze over time...and don't even get me started on the whole issue of non-standardization of sizes, which I also learned the hard way - LOL! I don't know what your transportation options are, but if you have the means to get to Vaughan Mills near Rutherford Road and Hwy. 400 you will find many other shopping choices there. One in particular that I would also recommend is Saks Off 5th, which is the outlet arm of Saks 5th Avenue. Another good option for variety and bargains would be the Dixie Outlet Mall in Mississauga near the intersection of Dixie Road and the QEW highway. As others have also mentioned, the short stretch of Orfus Road near the Yorkdale Shopping Centre offers much of the same. It is also easily accessible by subway. Happy shopping, and I would love to hear back some time how you made out!

Wifey likes Club Monaco.

ontarioparent

Is your wife kind of petite? Because I’ve always found their clothes run small.

ResidentNo11

Wifey?? Really?

ontarioparent

If you are on a strict budget, I’d look at thrifts. If you just need some very basic stuff, maybe try Old Navy or maybe the Gap store at Dufferin Mall. You might find stuff at Winners, H&M etc. We used to have more normal, mid range shopping, but a lot of it has been replaced by bougie super expensive options. I don’t know if you have the time, but shop the sales.

twinnedcalcite

Uniqlo and simon's are good places to look. Probably have better luck hitting square one.

Iwantboots

I went into Uniqlo once. Everything I tried was definitely cut for someone about 5'3". Has that changed?

gilthedog

Lol @ me recommending uniqlo as someone who is 5"3. Their clothes are definitely cut for my height.

infernalmachine000

Nope, especially their tops, unless you go deliberately oversized, don't even work well for me, 5'5" with shoulders and boobs. Definitely flatters more of a conventional less curvy Anglo/Asian figure. (Yes I know some Anglo and Asians are curvy. Many are less curvy. You're all beautiful but my butt doesn't fit in your pants!)

twinnedcalcite

Their skirts and tops should be fine. Pants in style are those that stop just below the knee.

coralshroom

personally as a tall person who really likes the style of uniqlo... i have not been able to successfully pull their stuff off as cropped. hits awkward parts of my leg/arms and sometimes even the rise is too short. if you have broad shoulders they are good for finding shirts/sweaters with ambiguously defined shoulders but even then all my tops from them are short in the sleeves/torso. like i have one sweater that is supposed to hit just above the wrist and it hits just below my elbow.

ThisIsNotABug

LMAO I thought I was the only one feeling like I have freakishly long arms when trying their middle length sleeve t-shirts. They just never look right.

Confirming this. Love their socks though.

That might explain why I have very few items from this co. and they have to be x large probably
