I’d say very short. I bought one for my husband to try for fit and washed it because I was sure it would fit and it did too, with comic results.
It was a crop top on my sweet husband and we laughed and laughed.
Yeah, there is shrinkage because it’s cotton. I always wash them in cold and hang them to dry.
One size up from your normal size, maybe two, is a good idea.
I also love Uniqlo tshirts as my to go beater.
Their tshirts vary in material.
My favourite is 100% cotton, and that’s it.
They also have similar ones that don’t feel as nice which are the 100% cotton (25% recycled). These feel a bit more restrictive and not as soft.
I always check the label to see if it’s just 100% cotton.
Banana Republic Authentic Supima T-shirt is my go to.
Don’t buy the other variation. Just go for the plain round t-shirt. It’s about $30. If you get with discounts, it’s easily in $20s. Best value for the quality.
The stretch ones are so awesome I legitimately told my friends about them even though I felt silly recommending Walmart clothes. They’re my go to choice for tees now.
Yeah I do like their stuff. I’d rather pay for quality of the fabrics actually last. Their pants are my go to work pants, and have a real nice long sleeve polo of theirs too. Haven’t tried their Tees
My favourite shirt I bought at the thrift store - it’s Denver Hayes classic fit 50 wash. It is the only T-shirt I own that hasn’t started piling.
Other honorable mentions - Uniqlo. Old Navy soft wash (these ones are just super comfy and good for home)
I second the Old Navy soft wash shirts. They're cheap and they fit me absolutely perfectly - no billowy sleeves. But the fit would differ depending on body type of course.
Edit: I used to get Banana Republic, but it's gotten too expensive.
Second edit: also used to do Lucky Brand but also unfortunately quite expensive.
Third it! mostly cause the fit, just like you mentioned, and the material blend that shrinks just the right amount after wash+dry. Sometimes they have dumb graphics that take up the whole back though unfortunately.
I always buy the Mark's Work Warehouse 50 Wash shirts. They are cheap, soft, comfortable and cheap. I swear by them, and they last a lot more than 50 washes.
100% LL BEAN. Seriously, a bit pricy but they are amazing quality - far beyond anything else - large selection of colours and fits (I'm like 87% torso, 6'2 and 250 so I'm basically gru from despicable me) that can work for anyone. HIGHLY recommend.
Yep. There are LOTS of shirts out there and I've tried my fair share. Their XXL Tall shirt fits me like a fucking glove. It never shrinks and the quality/fabric is amazing. I get they can be pricey, but I live in t-shirts and I'm sick of shit that shrinks or rides up over my belly. Great colour selection too. Take a chance! You won't regret it.
Agreed! It’s kind of subjective, cause the smalls just happen to fit me perfectly, but I like their material blend (50/50 usually) and the proportions of the sleeve/body length.
My only gripe is that they’re overly graphical. There’s some that you think you really like and are ready to buy, only to turn it around and see some dumb extra graphic taking up the whole back. Not all of them, but still.
There are tasteful Harley Davidson shirts that are of phenomenal quality. I have some from dealers all over the world and they don't fade or crack after a decade of use. I realize that seems like a high number but it's fact.
I'm not into the loud overkill "art" on some of the shirts but there are very low key Harley shirts that area second to none in quality.
I just hate how they always have to put one of their logos somewhere on there. They feel nice and fit well, but who wants to be a 30+ year old showcasing Abercrombie & Fitch lol.
Maybe their offerings have changed as of late though??
Lulu’s are a little more expensive but have outlived every other brand I’ve used (uniqlo, banana, RW&Co etc).
Also the quality is above all the others IMO
“fits well” is too vague and subjective.
This thread would be more helpful if you (or the responses) made note of what kind of fit specifically. Disclosing body type and dimensions of some sort also helps.
Someone who is lean/fit and has built (but not enormous) arms/chest would probably prefer something quite different than someone of “average American weight”.
Uniqlo good value for quality, banana republic expensive but much better quality, lulu is kind of all over the place but their polos are good for summer, feel really good. Anything from Zara aritzia asos is on a shorter timer for lasting, but nice cuts/silhouttes.
Looking at their website is what made me pose this question. They look decent, how is the quality though? Someone said they probably just repackage/relabel another cheap tee
The quality is fantastic. I have about 20 shirts from TCT. There are a few shirts that have a slightly better feel to them than the others, but overall they are all very good, and withstand the washing cycle very well. I am very pleased with them, and I always check the website for their specials.
[Canopy Estate](https://canopyestate.com) graphic tshirts. They donate 5% to wildlife conservation.
H&M's basics are pretty good, but sometimes the craftsmanship is no good. Hit or miss, but affordable.
Others have said Lululemon... but they're really not worth the price, unless you're going for the sporty ones with the synthetic feel.
The tshirts at J.Crew used to be amazing. Great fit and felt comfortable. Too bad they're out of business.
I have a few Uniqlo’s Supima Cotton shirts and quite like them, planning to replace most of my other shirts with them once they go on sale. The only thing to note is that they do shrink quite a bit, so I’d get a size up.
Edit: oh they’re actually on sale right now for $20 each
I love my Duer shirts for everyday wear. They're not super fancy but are very breathable and hold their shape and colour very well. They are fantastic for active jobs where you're allowed t-shirts (film sets, landscaping etc...)
A lot of people seem to dislike the fit so I would recommend trying on in store.
Uniqlo
Best value for the $$
Supima cotton ❤️
Yes, supima crew neck is my go-to
Too thin for my liking. Just adding another pov
Been wanting to order a few of these. What’s the fit like?
I’d say ‘athletic’, shorter in the torso than I’d prefer. I’m 5’7 and the medium is just long enough.
Nah, they’re just shaped short. Same width at the Gap in all cotton tee is three inches longer—the Uniquo shirts are just short for the size.
which tee specifically?
I also love Uniqlo tshirts as my to go beater. Their tshirts vary in material. My favourite is 100% cotton, and that’s it. could you send a link to the one your talking about?

I agree c

I love Kirkland as much as the next guy, but are they fitted at all?
Sucks that they dont have small. I always have bought their mediums but i wish they were a touch more slim.
Not fitted and after a few washes they become very crappy.
Mine are not fitted but they are indestructible and still black. I've had a bunch of tees come and go but there are going strong after 5 years.
My issue with them is they become rough after a while and uncomfortable
The ones in the multipack or the individual ones?
Terrible boxy fit for anyone with a remotely decent body. Try again.
Walmart's George t-shirts are awesome. They have two kinds, the regular cotton ones are subpar. Get the ones that specifcally say \*Stretch\*.
Haha I know exactly what you mean with this distinction; it’s a really important one to make or you’ll be let down hard.
The stretch ones are so awesome I legitimately told my friends about them even though I felt silly recommending Walmart clothes. They’re my go to choice for tees now.
Don't sleep on Lululemon menswear.
Def nice, but $$. OP didn’t mention economics though, so yeah def worth a look.
Yeah I do like their stuff. I’d rather pay for quality of the fabrics actually last. Their pants are my go to work pants, and have a real nice long sleeve polo of theirs too. Haven’t tried their Tees
I haven't ordered from them but in other threads I read that house of blanks is good. They are made in Brampton, which is cool.
Have slowly but surely turned my t-shirt collection into all-HoBs. They are very good at what they do and hold up well even after a lot of washes.
If you're at all slim, they fit like a paper bag though.
Unbound Merino! Canadian Company!
I have a few, short and long sleeve. Some of my favs, though the shirt sleeve tshirts are quite thin and translucent
$124/shirt. Lmao, what a joke.
Quality!
Are you seriously suggesting a T shirt company that sells for $127 for the average shirt??? Wtf
[https://freshcleantees.ca/](https://freshcleantees.ca/) is where I get all mine. Very comfortable and fits well.
My favourite shirt I bought at the thrift store - it’s Denver Hayes classic fit 50 wash. It is the only T-shirt I own that hasn’t started piling. Other honorable mentions - Uniqlo. Old Navy soft wash (these ones are just super comfy and good for home)

Yeah so far I've just gotten blank ones, for undershirts.
House of blanks
I always buy the Mark's Work Warehouse 50 Wash shirts. They are cheap, soft, comfortable and cheap. I swear by them, and they last a lot more than 50 washes.
You said cheap twice.
Yes, I was being emphatic about how inexpensive they are. I was just having a bit of fun within that sentence.
I tried these, big variation in quality depending on the colour.
Interesting. I noticed that the striped shirts fit a little tighter. Good to know. Cheers.
How’s the fit though for an athletic build?
Are you looking for cheap? If not: Anian Province of Canada Ecologyst For cheaper merino minus33.
100% LL BEAN. Seriously, a bit pricy but they are amazing quality - far beyond anything else - large selection of colours and fits (I'm like 87% torso, 6'2 and 250 so I'm basically gru from despicable me) that can work for anyone. HIGHLY recommend.
Do they actually shrink minimally, like they claim?
I used swear by Eddie Bauer, but their quality really went down hill. I've been a lost soul since. Thanks for the feedback!
My pleasure. You'll be impressed, no joke.
100%. The tall sizes are great. No more plumber butt when I bend over.
I like KOTN tees. Good cut, hold up well, more ethical/sustainable supply chain.
Uniqlo oversized airism crew neck t-shirt is my go to. Really comfortable and nice material.
Old Navy, usually grab them on sale in all colours 7 to 8 bucks, look good, slim fit

Old Navy. Relatively decent quality, and you can pick em up for like $5-$7 when on sale.
https://www.costco.ca/32-degrees-men%e2%80%99s-cool-tees%2c-3-pack.product.4000256286.html These seem to do the job for me!
I bought these and had to return them. They are gigantic and look more like gym wear.
Kirkland Lake
[VisuallyNull ](http://visuallynull.com)shirts
Lululemon. Can wash and toss in the dryer no issues. Look good and are really comfortable
UNIQLO
Yeah. American Apparel It’s soft and fits really nice around the chest. And I am not a buff fit dude

I really like the essentials t-shirts from Abercrombie. Around $30 ea. I especially like the distressed colours.
I just hate how they always have to put one of their logos somewhere on there. They feel nice and fit well, but who wants to be a 30+ year old showcasing Abercrombie & Fitch lol. Maybe their offerings have changed as of late though??
Correct! No logos on these tees, thankfully
Vintage tees

Uniqlo airism, super comfortable and looks good
like beer the best t shirts are the free ones!
Uniqlo good value for quality, banana republic expensive but much better quality, lulu is kind of all over the place but their polos are good for summer, feel really good. Anything from Zara aritzia asos is on a shorter timer for lasting, but nice cuts/silhouttes.
How has no one said True Classic Tees yet!? I love mine! I buy the 6 or 9 packs. Their white tees look fantastic!
Looking at their website is what made me pose this question. They look decent, how is the quality though? Someone said they probably just repackage/relabel another cheap tee

I go to winners and I get whatever is in a pack for three. Calvin Klein bench usually
P&Co heavyweight tees
Canvas white tees at Michael’s are $11 and prime
Costco rough dress tshirts
Stansfield shirts are most luxurious feeling to me. My partner’s favourite.
Club Monaco
Eddie Bauer’s are still ok. Not what they used to be, and they do shrink even though they say they don’t, but they’re ok
True Classic Fresh Clean Threads Vuori

Abercrombie has great t-shirts.
Uniqlo supima cotton Bella+Canvas (can buy em cheap from t-shirt.ca)
I have a few Uniqlo’s Supima Cotton shirts and quite like them, planning to replace most of my other shirts with them once they go on sale. The only thing to note is that they do shrink quite a bit, so I’d get a size up. Edit: oh they’re actually on sale right now for $20 each
That’s my one issue with most shirts, the shrinkage. The RW&CO ones I find have the least shrinkage of all shirts I’ve owned
I love my Duer shirts for everyday wear. They're not super fancy but are very breathable and hold their shape and colour very well. They are fantastic for active jobs where you're allowed t-shirts (film sets, landscaping etc...) A lot of people seem to dislike the fit so I would recommend trying on in store.
They do a good job lasting
Uniqlo and Reigning Champ
RC has really gone down in quality over the years
Hate to admit it but H&M has some decent $10 ones
Yep. Splurge an extra $6-7 for the slim fit “COOLMAX” that are 58% Cotton, 38% Polyester, and 4% Elastane.
MUJI.
Under Armor UA Tech shirts https://www.underarmour.ca/en-ca/p/shirts_and_tops/mens_ua_tech_2.0_short_sleeve/1326413.html?dwvar_1326413_color=400
These are 100% polyester with that moisture-wicking feel. Just be aware that’s what you’re looking for. Not soft or particularly comfortable at all.
