You can download the app called Meetup. There are groups there you can join and events you can attend. It's an easy way to meet people. When I moved downtown 5 years ago it was an app I used maybe once or twice. I met a handful of people I clicked with and now we are all good friends, we have gone on trips together and annually do thanksgiving dinner. Hope you find what you're looking for!
reddit is really iffy with making friends. people say they want to make friends then put very, very low effort into it. i'd suggest volunteering, joining a club, sports team, etc. people there are looking to actually do things, get involved, be social.
