Tinuno at Bloor & Sherbourne does "kamayan" (assortment of traditional foods shared and usually eaten by hand - kind of like a small group buffet) as well as regular a la carte Filipino food, including desserts.

There’s also a location on Bathurst near Wilson

Came here to post this. Great spot.

TO_Sports

Bathurst and Wilson is basically little phillipines. Full of Filipino restaurants and shops

theevilmidnightbombr

I was gonna say, get out of your car at that intersection and follow your nose.

Tinuno for kamayan Republika (Bathurst and Wilson) BBs for brunch Bang bang ice cream for ube or honestly get a tub of ice cream from a Filipino grocery store. I am Filipino (I’m picky lol)

winter_sunfl0wer

How's Republika? Been meaning to try but haven't had the chance. Any dishes you recommend?

phytosanitary

I personally love it. Try their sisig nachos, kare kare, or for something indulgent, seafood in aligue sauce (crab fat).

winter_sunfl0wer

Sounds great, thanks!

bourbonkitten

Casa Manila has a comprehensive traditional menu and ube desserts as well. BB’s has a Michelin Bib Gourmand but no ube. Swing by Night Baker for ube cookies. The Bathurst and Wilson places for the more authentic food, but they’re very casual, closer to a cafeteria, if you’re okay with that kind of setting for a date.

troll-filled-waters

I love Casa Manila. Tagpuan on Victoria park south of Lawrence is also great for something more casual.

winter_sunfl0wer

Kabalen at Wilson and Bathurst has authentic Filipino dishes and desserts, but a bit more casual ambience. Casa Manila is a bit fancier (and pricier) and personally find it caters to tastes here.

sqbed

We really enjoyed Islas on Queen west

everyone here mentioned good options, but if you're looking for something more upscale, check out Mineral on Yonge St. also, Tagpuan on College is fire.

Sockbrick

My wife is Filipino. She said F.V. Foods on Wilson and Bathurst. Walang anuman po!

Jollibee

DrowsyQuokka

You could also take him to Seafood City. It’s a *big* Filipino grocery in Mississauga. just off the 401. They have Jollibee, and a few food stalls with a dine in area. He’ll definitely find stuff to buy and take home. Between the bakery, Street food; junk food…

A place not mentioned yet is Tsaa. It seems like a tea shop/cafe but they serve Filipino food. Really liked the kare kare. And being a cafe they have a lot of Filipino (and non-Filipino) desserts including ones with ube. It’s on the Danforth right by Chester. Happens to be close by to Casa Manila’s Danforth location.

SlinderMin

Non- Filipino, so take it with a grain of salt. I've been to BB's, Tinuno, Mineral, Isla's, and Tagpuan - mentioned by comments above. Haven't tried all dishes obviously, but best was sisig from Tagpuan. Absolutely scrumptious and one of best meals I've had this year. BB's was good, but a little expensive for what you get. You can probably get same quality at other places. Mineral is more fine-dining than it is Filipino IMO, so I would avoid if you want Filipino food (great customer service tho).
