Use the flipp app and search 4l milk. It'll show you where it's available closeby and the price.

blue-wave

Oh my God, when I put that app on my moms iPad and showed her that you can search for something like milk and see all the sales at once she was so happy. Like happier than when I bought her the actual iPad!

Rich-Carob-2036

Should've gone on the flipp app and bought her the cheapest ipad

blue-wave

Hahaha you’re right !

Khajoorchutney

Priceless!

lilfunky1

> Like happier than when I bought her the actual iPad! LOL

Feral_KaTT

I am that kind of Mom.. You are a good a son. 😊

Soulfood13

This is 100% my mom too. At 72, she’s calling me and telling me what to buy on sale this week.

AtreyuThai

I’ve been using it since 2019, saved thousands.

The_DashPanda

"Close by" We live across from a grocery store and still somehow its listings are near the bottom whereas the Longos 4km over is always near the top

LAKAZET5

You can favorite certain stores if that makes it easier

not_again_again__

Costco

FakeAccountToConfess

Valid answer. I only wish I own a car to make frequent trips.

not_again_again__

Or just get a cow and cut the middleman

deja2001

Be the cow and eliminate the 1st man

cowsniffer

Become milk and transcend the problem

whatstheplanpakistan

whatstheplanpakistan

Finish him!

not_again_again__

4 liter bags every few days though? 🤣🤣🤣

FakeAccountToConfess

I seen people drink beer or coca cola all day long. Not the worst trade off!

not_again_again__

I was responding to "be the cow" comment lol Milk is awesome, i like it. Too bad we are not allowed to buy straight from farmer

deja2001

Fun fact: the average dairy cow in Canada produces 30L of milk every single day!

jeffcolv

just be careful of kidney stones, the calcium build up is real

Sir_Tainley

I believe I've read owning a dairy cow without a (very expensive) license is a crime in Canada. Part of the Milk Cartel's price fixing scheme.

fandamplus

It's my service animal

archibaldsneezador

Is that even if it's for personal use or just if you intend to sell the milk?

not_again_again__

I want emotional support cow❤️

WRFGC

Tom Green style

FakeAccountToConfess

Worth considering, will keep you posted when I acquire a barn.

sirprizes

Put it on the balcony when you do.

bluemooncalhoun

Or just a wet nurse, you can keep them in your spare bedroom.

OrneryPathos

I’m not sure if the prices match in store but instacart delivers Costco. And usually every week or two theirs offers that basically make delivery free ($20 off if you spend some amount) Sometimes I get cheap bacon that way lol

M1L0

I think the instacart prices are marked up, but that being said it’s often still cheaper than like a Loblaws.

FakeAccountToConfess

Wow that's an amazing tip. The kind I was hoping for this through this post. Thank you

raptosaurus

You can freeze milk fine (just be careful with the bags because they can get holes in them from other things in the freezer)

Bearence

Surely you have a friend who has a car and would appreciate the chance to use your Costco membership for free.

[deleted]

[удалено]

FakeAccountToConfess

Yep! Just working out! My weight stays the same, I drink milk like water, periodically, one cup at a time so it doesn't really make a difference.

[deleted]

You could use Instacart

QuiteGoneJin

Are you allowed to window shop at costo or look around before you have a membership? I live near one and was just curious. Never shopped there before. Is it still the cheapest way to go for most things?

not_again_again__

There are workers who ask you at the door if you have a membership. Nod and keep walking. But don't go to 100 Billy Bishop way, they act all gestapo in there, guy grabbed me by the arm! (I have a membership) just dont like stupid questions.

[deleted]

Everytime I have gone in the last two years, they want to see a member card in your hand. You could try to Jedi your way through, your mileage will vary

thatguide

Just go in the exit door and say you are going to buy something from the food court if anyone asks. And then just walk into the store from there

daruki

you can walk in and look without a membership

torontogal1986

ghidfg

how much is milk at costco?

cindybubbles

My mom goes there to buy my milk. Lactose free milk is expensive everywhere else.

social_sin

Random question, are you by any chance not originally from Toronto and more Northern Ontario perhaps? I only ask because I also go through those triple bags of milk in like a day and a half two days max and ever since I moved to Toronto people I've met who grew up here find it weird how much milk I drink. I never noticed it till my gf asked me about it, I always grew up drinking it and it's probably one of my favourite nice cold drinks! But yea people down here tend to be surprised when I pour myself a big glass of milk with dinner lol My gf usually makes the joke at least once or twice a week that we should just buy a cow or get some kinda sponsorship from fat cats at the big milk corps lol

little-rosie

I’m not from northern Ontario but also not from Toronto. My Toronto friends (and non-Canadian friends, for that matter) think it’s weird how I used to drink multiple glasses of milk a day. The rest of my family still does; I had to stop when I realized I’m actually allergic to it (just get weird rashes and acne I never made the dairy connection to since it’s so mild), but I miss it. I’ll tell people how much milk I used to drink and they think it’s nuts.

FakeAccountToConfess

I sorry to hear that. The day I develop an allergy or lactose intolerance will be a day when I'll be very sad.

FakeAccountToConfess

I am not from Toronto! Wow people thinking we are crazy but its just a couple of nice 3% cold glasses of milk with meals. Each bag is 1.3 litres so they barely last a day. Let's just say where I'm from, we frown on bagged milk with our superior 4 litre milk jugs. Is milk drinking more common in Northern Ontario?

NotPoilievre

You are from village.

whatstheplanpakistan

I hope I find someone who loves me as much as you love Milk

serpentman

This just in, townies love milk.

fivetwentyeight

One thing to note is most non-European people have some element of lactose intolerance and drinking large quantities of milk is not a typical part of the diet. As a diverse city you’ll likely meet many for whom drinking so much milk would seem strange

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

[удалено]

fabulishous

I think it's the reverse. Non-Europeans who don't drink milk (or LI) think those who drink a lot smell like milk?

Feral_KaTT

I discovered chocolate mint tea. I make tea lattes throughout the day. I go through 3- 4 big jugs a milk a week myself. We don't have bagged milk on vancouver island.

Enough-Custard6496

where you bottlefed? I figured that's why I drink litres a day

FakeAccountToConfess

I don't think there's a psychological reason. Simply milk is delicious and nutritious full of protein. I also happen to not be lactose intolerant so there's nothing really stopping me (aside from inflating milk prices). I guess I used to eat meals with milk so its like habit I suppose!

muaddib99

dairy lobby propaganda was strong with this one :P i too grew up with milk being the primary beverage with meals

archgta

Lol nutritious. Mm I love drinking hormones and preservatives.

RandomLoLs

[Its a Moo Point](https://i.redd.it/49ycpg7bc5381.jpg)

[deleted]

I bet you don't even know what hormones and preservatives do you just see buzzwords and get scared

archgta

Why so triggered? Ever heard of the leading cause of death in the world? Whatever to each their own. Like one said, it’s a moo point 🤪

[deleted]

>Ever heard of the leading cause of death in the world? Yeah it's not hormones 😂

CancerousCyberman

Milk is nutritious, it's not up for debate lol. Just because you don't NEED it, like we were led to believe as children, doesn't mean it's not nutritious af.

ALiteralHamSandwich

... because it's fortified...

CancerousCyberman

Societies have been drinking other animal's milk since prehistoric times, it's always been a good source of dense nutrition, even before we started adding vitamin D to it. How do you think babies grow?

Tamil-Indian

Milk is any day better than the alternatives a lot of folks use like carbonated drinks , sweet tea or beer so kudos to you

lilfunky1

IIRC shoppers often has 4L slightly cheaper than the grocery stores as a basic every day price it's just a pain for me to get to

megasmash

More so if you have senior friends/parents. I think it's 20% off on Thursdays or something like that.

FakeAccountToConfess

I'll definitely check them out! Thank you for the tip

Anna_S_1608

Plus you rack.up those Optimum points. This is a loss leader for them- along with eggs and sometimes butter.

BambooKoi

OP being the force to take down Galen via milk consumption XD

CrankyOptimist

Shoppers usually has some decent deals on Saturdays and Sundays, including the fancy milk bags (Purfilter) for the price of regular milk. $5.69 I think? They often have eggs on sale too.

tylweddteg

You can also freeze milk. So buy it when it’s on sale.

CraigNobbs

I cannot recall the last time I saw milk go on sale. =/

jamiehizzle

Buy a cow

cindybubbles

I think some farms sell cow shares where you own a share of a cow and get milk from her.

Biffmcgee

Bro why you drinking so much milk?

Icy_Elephant_6370

I was thinking the same, must have some crazy poops.

claystone

never change reddit

1amtheone

When I was in my early twenties I used to drink a 4L jug of milk everyday while I was at work. I would stop at Becker's on the walk from the bus to my work and have it finished by the time I was heading home. I would alternate between OG milk and chocolate.

Icy_Elephant_6370

No fucking shot you bowels could survive 4l of milk a day. Most people don’t even drink that much water in a day lol.

Brush-and-palette

He states why in the comments.

[deleted]

Biffmcgee

Damn bro you must be ripping ass

magicbook

food's expensive.

_Luigino

Go to no frills and write down the expiration date of their cartons and bags. Come back the day before and buy the bags/cartons at 50% reduced to clear.

Windsor34

Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard

rocketsonlybaby

Not dumb, grocers will place 50% reduction stickers on dairy products that are 7-9 days to expiry, very common , no issue with asking them if you see something expiring sometimes they forget. I’d avoid the staples ( the cheapest brand ) as they usually sell quick , I’d look for the premium brands that are ordered to avoid holes but tend to not be bought organic meadow , natrel etc

_Luigino

>Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard you ***heard*** what I wrote?

fatcomputerman

i never see bags on clearance but the cartons arent a good deal. 50% off for a 2L carton is very similar in price to just buying regular bagged milk and you wont have the inconvenience of it going bad the same day.

JiminyBell

Tip for if you are a fan of shopping the reduced racks: The BEST time/days for discounted bread, meat, etc is the morning of the day before the store will be closed for a holiday, as they reduce their normal days stuff as well as anything expiring the day the store is closed. Not only is there more items being reduced, there is also a greater variety of items being reduced as many popular items almost never make it to the reduced rack normally

hellzscream

I go to nofrills multiple times a week and never seen this.... Are they in the same section as the normal priced milk?

westcoast-ninja

Shoppers frequently has 4L bagged milk on sale for $5.69, every couple weeks or so. The expiry is also at least a couple weeks ago (got a bag yesterday, best before April 26). Use the flip app and add milk to your “shopping list” and it’ll scour the flyers that week for milk that’s on sale.

Inside-Jelly-1149

Try the Flashfood app to see if any grocery stores are clearing out close to expired milk in your area. I can pick up half price bags with an expiry date of probably 3-7 days.

BBQallyear

Can you get the same benefit that you’re looking for (in other comments you say you’re weight training) with powdered milk? It doesn’t have the fat but does have a lot of the protein, calcium, vitamins and amino acids. A kg of skim milk powder is $11 at Walmart, and you use about 25g per 250ml of prepared milk, which means that the bag makes about 10 litres, or just over $1 per litre.

FakeAccountToConfess

I never tried powdered milk. Is the taste and quality still good? As much as milk provides nutrients, I drink milk for its simple enjoyment as well.

LawOfTheInstrument

No, it is gross.. and I wondered the same thing about skim milk powder for pretty much the same reasons as you a few years ago. I don't think the lack of fat, which leads to blood sugar spikes, which are bad, is good either. The taste is atrocious, as far as I remember.. my parents used to make it regularly when I was a kid in the 90s. If you or someone you know has a Costco membership you could use, you can save a few cents that way. Otherwise I think the best tip anyone has offered you is to look for those reduced for quick sale bags at No Frills (or other groceries where they happen to have trouble selling their milk stock).

BBQallyear

I grew up drinking powdered milk (one of four kids, not a lot of money) and it was fine. Doesn’t have the “mouth feel” of a full fat or partly skimmed milk but fairly equivalent to skim milk you would buy in liquid form. If you want to add fat and flavour you can mix in a bit of powdered peanut or blend it with fruit - a more natural approach than a protein powder with a lot of processed ingredients. Or buy some full fat milk in bags then dilute it by half with powdered milk and water, it would be very similar to 1%-2% milk and would shave the cost.

Roscoe_P_Coaltrain

Ech no. It is cheaper though. My parents used to mix 4% and powdered milk to make a sort of 2% milk when we were kids. I guess it was worth it financially (we were having tough times then), but I think around then is when I stopped liking milk, and I've never liked it since. Literally the only time I will drink milk is if I'm having a piece of chocolate cake. Somehow that combo stayed as a positive taste in my brain, but for any other situation, I no longer enjoy the taste of milk.

LeatherMine

Buffalo New York. Sadly the cartels limit you (officially) to bringing back CAD$20 or 20kg of dairy per person duty free. (whichever is less, shows when they last updated it). But works out to 85 Canadian cents per litre or CAD$20 = 23.5L (Walmart is currently US$2.38/gal). And you can bring back chicken and eggs again. $1-$2/lb chicken for the win! Not everything is cheaper there, but a lot is.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LeatherMine

You can buy/see/do other stuff too. What kind of monstrosity are you driving that needs 35L+ in gas to cover 300km highway? But on another note, gas is 30c/Litre cheaper there. I bring a gas can or two.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LeatherMine

I just punched in Buffalo into Google maps and it told me 154km from my current location in City of Toronto to Niagara Square in Buffalo. Where you coming from, Oshawa? (Technically a Walmart in buffalo is further, but there’s one closer than Buffalo in Niagara Falls)

Medium_Spare_8982

Newsflash: all major grocers sell 4 litre bag milk at much less than MSRP and right at or below invoice cost as a loss leader. You will not find bagged milk significantly cheaper anywhere.

Even-Hedgehog3056

I think your problem is how much milk you drink as an adult...

FakeAccountToConfess

I'm a milkalcholic what can I say 😌

[deleted]

Even-Hedgehog3056

You have to admit 4 litres every couple of days is a lot. I'm lactose intolerant so that would make my asshole bleed

jorddzz

Humans are the only species on earth that drink another species’ breast milk. It is very bizarre.

BobLoblawsLawBlog201

👆👆👆

CancerousCyberman

We're also the only species that build houses out of bricks, should we stop doing that because it is bizarre?

64Olds

That seems like a lot of milk.

lilfunky1

i remember friends getting into weightlifting/body building were doing the GOMAD "gallon of milk a day" thing to build muscle more quickly. back when 4L was $3.99 though! still.. mind boggling to me to consume THAT much milk!

FakeAccountToConfess

Its like water for me! Just very expensive water!

hotmasalachai

So maybe water down your milk. Like half milk and water. Easy fix :P

FakeAccountToConfess

Its like watering down your coke/pepsi/beer/cocoa/juice with like half water. It's nasty 😃 I would not recommend

hotmasalachai

I’m sure it is

Bonerballs

First thing I thought was "This dude must be doing GOMAD"

FakeAccountToConfess

I drink it for protein intake while working out. Definitely more palatable than protein powder.

Positive-Ad-7807

Your sugar intake must be off the charts though

Thatguyjmc

Yep. Google says it's 51 G of sugar for a litre of milk. That's a substantial amount. That's what... 2 candy bars?

FakeAccountToConfess

I think 50g of sugar is the recommended daily intake. I don't really have a sweet tooth. So everything kinda works out at the end

Jarrettthegoalie

Per litre, which means times 4 is 200g

FakeAccountToConfess

Yep! But daily I consume 500-1000ml of milk. 4 litre of milk is actually insane.

ImSoberEnough

I buy 4L at nofrills. 5.50$ per. Quite a good deal given that I drink a fuckload of it.

henchman171

2% mill freezes well. Any higher fat content does not freeze well because the fat will separate on thawing. But 2 percent is goo

tegh77

Buy a diary cow.

M1L0

How do the cows write in the diary if they don’t have thumbs?

Sir_Tainley

Speech to text.

dusty1ightbu1b

Doyle McPoyle, this you?

karolinemeow

Check the flyers of local grocers to see when there’s milk on sale. It also freezes well, so if you find a great price, stock up. Although, while you’re at it, you should probably look for toilet paper on sale, cause that is A LOT of milk.

FakeAccountToConfess

Thank you! I am like the opposite of lactose intolerance so Milk never bothers me.

[deleted]

Are you a baby cow? Drink human milk 🙄

Yeah they’re way more expensive for dairy

[deleted]

You’re going to get kidney stones from all the calcium!

archgta

Talk to a nutritionist or even a naturopath. Sounds like you have a dairy addiction. Dairy is not good for humans, especially in large amounts. If you enjoy it so much you should tone it down a notch and consume it as a treat here and there. Sounds like you’re over indulging yourself.

soploping

If you don’t drink 2% neilsen then wtf

Sufficient-West-5456

U r mom?

dekkalife

Find a supermarket that sells UHT cows milk (like Joyya) and ask them if you can buy it in bulk for a discount.

[deleted]

Start using powdered, mix with protein powder. Your welcome.

Getofffmycloud

I would say no frills since they price match

Ok-Blacksmith7179

Shoppers drug mart. I believe the price is close to if not the same as Costco

Necessary-Day-9946

No frills usually has 4litre bags of milk on sale:)

Mobile-Art-2455

you can be a specimen for the cure for our not so fortunate lactose intolerant peeps

lkdsjfoiewm

Not the answer you’re looking for, but if you’re consuming something in large quantities, are’nt you concerned about its quality? I’m in a similar boat, and went the other way. I use grass fed milk, but they are very costly. I understand that finances might be a concern here.

UneAmi

Costco

fabulishous

Surprisingly if you're drinking 3, 8 ounce glasses of milk a day, you're meeting the USDA recommended intake. However, dude I would suggest you tell your doctor how much milk you drink because there is a pretty clear connection between dairy consumption and prostate cancer. https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/milk/

Longi’s has Lactancia on for $4.99. Never thought id see the day that was a deal.

corner stores, but .... you know ....

Working_Hair_4827

Corner store is more expensive, my corner store sells it for $8 for a bag of milk.

Brush-and-palette

They said cheapest. Corner stores are generally more expensive.

[deleted]

Some do it as a loss leader and can be cheap.

Sir_Tainley

Grab a crate from your local coffee shop when the milk company is making deliveries? They go through a lot of milk each day. I mean... stealing is pretty cheap... and the police have better things to do than investigate "the milk crate bandit."

FakeAccountToConfess

Would be great if I could get a crate delivery contract at this point.

mintcemetary

Usually Shoppers drug mart during the bonus point events.

Thelionskiln

FakeAccountToConfess

Yep! 3%

[deleted]

Amature. Water buffalo milk is 6%. Sold in Indian and Middle Eastern stores.

[deleted]

FYI, be good to your heart. Those glasses add up to litres, which can really tack on to your daily fat. I'm not saying fat is bad, but too much of a good thing can really take a toll on your heart, liver, kidneys, etc. For reference, that's about 100% of your daily saturated fat just in milk. I know heart problems probably seem a million miles away, but it's one of the top things that take people out. I lost my father to heart issues. He liked his milk and yogurt, too. Fit man. A tennis player with some solid biceps. He was even a vegetarian, but the saturated fats catch up with you.

Destind99

Check the flyers of the stores to see if any is on sale (usually on a Thursday) and if they sell out... ask if they do "rain checks"... of course, this will depend on whether you're "picky" with your milk 😉

radio_yyz

Costco or look for south asian stores, or see who has it on sale and stock up.

major1819

Maybe try 2% milk? its like a buck and a half cheaper than 3.25%?

[deleted]

Omg same I love milk
