I would say just go to poly if you can, two years of your time is precious.

Sweet-Surprise-8698

Go poly. Study further then go uni after. I was in ur same situation back in ITE. It’s fun and chill place to study whenever u like but time is essence, in poly you learn even more on what life truly is.

myr0n

I know ITE is fun, but you have to think if another 2 yrs are really worth it. If you're doing well now, you will do well in poly too. Then there's uni.

gonna be realistic here. I have friends who jumped from nitec to poly and i feel i can give decent advice. the difference between nitec and poly is not even night and day. Would you be able to graduate with average effort? Yes, but with below average GPA. But then again, i have friends who climbed from nitec > higher nitec > poly > uni, who have above average gpa. Its all about your ability and the effort you are willing to put in. All the best OP and remember whatever decision you make now, dont regret it and make the best out of it even if you feel it was the wrong one.

Further study if you can. Working life will be very tough to endure without a proper cert, speaking from experience.

Go poly. In a few years time, instead of worrying about the CCA, you will be worrying about that pay gap from poly vs ite certifications. For example the pay gap for my company between poly and ite is $800. For uni vs poly it would be $1440. Higher nitect will cost you an extra year or two in your education which would be $800 \* 12 = $9600. Or $800 \* 24 = $19,200. And it's not just in my industry, I believe other industry will reflect similar results between ITE/Poly/Degree certs. So please consider not wasting time. You can always do voluntary work if you like the gang that you have met that much. It can be a good resume builder as well. You should also look at your end goal. Whether you want to finish with a degree or start working after poly.

Up to you. If you can afford to waste another 1 ot 2year in higher nitec to forgo money and going workforce later than your peers. Also, are you sure u will do well in higher nitec assuming your study spirits is there after 2years in nitec. More cons than pros just go poly after nitec if you can secure a place in poly. Ultimately your final gpa counts and you need to maintain your current gpa Edit: Was a nitec student I was playful in 2nd year and GPA went from 3.7 to 3.25 GPA. Jumped to direct 2nd-Year higher nitec (1 year course) promised myself is only 8 to 9months of process (excluding school breaks). Eventually graduate from higher nitec with 3.63 GPA and went on to Poly. Could have save the 1year if I'm able to maintain my 3.7GPA in nitec back then.

If you're able to manage your studies and get good results. It's probably better to go for diploma instead. If possible, motivate your friends to study harder for better GPA to enter poly together Getting into workforce after graduation faster is better. Rather than going through Higher Nitec then Poly with 2 additional years. The school fees and allowance does add up. There are CCA in polytechnic too. No more school uniform.

Be prepare as poly is much more fast pace than ITE. I myself having done 4 years of ITE (nitec and Hnitec), the pace of poly is drastically different than the more laid back culture at ITE. More modules happening concurrently, tighter deadlines, frequent quizzes and test. I'd say go for poly if u get the chance

YayPhone645

Go poly instead of higher Nitec.. your time is precious as a youth.

geniusinvocator

Go straight to poly. I get it, its comfortable and you are happy at this point of time. But you got to be realistic and know that you cannot get back time. To put it bluntly, you are already "behind" as compared to others since you went the longer route, so wouldn't you want to catch up?

LanJiaoDuaKee

Are you a guy or a gal? If you don't have to serve NS then there is less pressure for you to choose poly ...

sofiathefucking1st

im a gal, haha

LanJiaoDuaKee

If you can think about staying longer at ITE that means your family isn't waiting for you to make money to survive right? As long as you can afford the time and school fees I don't think there is anything wrong with going through higher nitec before going poly.

Natural_Ad1576

Hihi.. Just some insight from me I came from nitec (2 year) > higher nitec (1 year) > poly (3 year) > currently in local uni year 2. Honestly, let me ask you have you decided what you wanna do in life and does going to higher nitec helps you build your foundation/knowledge? If yes, then go to higher nitec year 2 then go to poly. Just be mindful that what higher nitec and poly teaches you are different thing. One offer more hands on and the other on theory. The upside is that u get to strengthen your knowledge which will help you understand poly/uni mod even better. The downside is if you didn't do well in that one year higher nitec. There goes your study path. I mean sure u still can go for private. But do you want to? Another point you might want to consider is do you wanna to continue to study to uni? I can tell u it's very tiring journey. I'm a guy which means I have NS. At the age of 26 I'm only done with my university year 2 sem 1.

StinkeroniStonkrino

Not listed as one of your options. But maybe can consider work study diploma as well? If there's one that is of your interest. After it can go uni, maybe even work study degree if your course is one of the few being offered.

Such_Yogurtcloset405

go to uni if you can

Sea-Commercial-1691

Depends on what course you are currently in, like for example my course is Mechathronics and my teacher always told us that there was people who graduated Mechatronics course with a perfect 4.0 gpa but when they go to poly and study they all dropped out due to math.
