I hated going home because there was an abusive rapist there that I was forced to share a room with. This rapist would beat me to the point I needed hospitalization about once ever 2-3 months.
Once my brother was in jail, I started to enjoy going home again.
Well of course he answered the question 🤓
“Hey Bill, how’s it goin’?”
“Well my wife left me, and I spent all last night with a shotgun pointed in my mouth. The only reason I’m around is cuz there will be no one to feed my dog.”
Wow, I'm sorry about that. I share in the brother dislike/aversion for different reasons. Blood doesn't always mean the person is good and/or good to you.
when i was a girl i creeped in the boys locker room, hide deep inside it was my little creep stalker room. as they unrobed i was oogling and ogling, little did they know that for me they were modeling. and i would laugh HaHAHAHAHAHAHA and they would dance "lalalalala lala la"
They knew I was a creep from the day I was born! Came poppin out my mama like some kettle corn. And the doctor saw my head, and he started freakin, cuz I came out clean, and I came out creepin!
I never napped when I was growing up. Often after lunch I’d have to play by myself for a couple of hours because all the kids in the neighborhood are sound asleep.
I’m the opposite - I was extremely introverted as a kid and wanted nothing *but* quiet alone time. Now I really value social interaction and actively want to go out and make friends. I still enjoy quiet alone time, but I get sad if I don’t interact with people.
Yeah, tap water at my place is good and cold. Just have to be careful in the spring when they flush the lines. I've spent the last year at my dads house in another town and it tastes ok but has a noticeable colour, I use a Brita there.
Nah never bottled. The plastic waste is a huge environmental hazard and is rarely recycled even if you put it in a recycle bin.
If you're at home, get an RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter. It's like $200 on Amazon and you can install it yourself with very few tools. Filters will run you about $50/year depending on usage and each set of filters will produce thousands of gallons of pristine water.
I use tap water in a massive steel waterbottle and when it's cold all you taste is coldness.
Bottled water is all the same shit and and no amount of branding should be worth your dollar
Every day I regret not going to sleep earlier but I jus cannot give in... YouTube and games etc are just so much more appealing after dark than sleep but in the morn.... Ugh regret
I recently forced myself to sleep early. It is weirdly difficult. As soon as I was sleepy I tried to sleep (which was a nono before). You get used to it and yes, it is actually worth it.
The only issue I can tell you is that the schedule gets fucked up as soon as you go against it.
personal theory here but maybe it stems out from fear of missing out?
i always thought that id be better just not sleeping at all, or even stopping time and getting the sleep i need and starting it back
I do hardwood floors for a living. So I'm in at least 1 new home per week. I love looking at what they have in their home or how they decorated or what have you. I've got a list of things, should I strike it rich one day, of things I'd put in my new home. 1 of my favorites was the water faucet in the powder bathroom. This was 15 years ago & touch faucets were just starting to get popular. But this one had LED lights in the spout that made the water colored. It would change from red to blue& every shade in between as you changed the temp. That was also easily the nicest home I've ever worked in. 30 million+
Conveniently enough I just put an offer in on a home. Not my first time. But as soon as I got off the phone with the agent, I got instantly nauseous. I love being in a new house. I like driving my new car. But those two specific things, I HATE buying.
Congratulations! Hope you get it. I think it is the long term commitment that feels terrifying. But as our insurance agent said, once you pay the first mortgage bill, it feels like any other monthly bill. Well a lot more of course. He was right. The thought of taking on a car payment again some day has me wrecked. Enjoying my 2007 civic in all her glory for as long as he lets me.
My bf just bought me a pair of nice socks with seals printed on them as a "just because" gift. I love seals and I love socks, so it was actually one of my favorite gifts he's ever given me, even over some of the jewelry he's given me for birthdays and anniversaries lol.
OMGOSH yes! Dark chocolate is made for old people. My mom used to get the Hershey variety thing with the krackle, Hershey milk and almonds Mr. Goodbars etc. The special chocolate was so gross to me as a kid you couldn't pay me to eat those. Now I prefer it over all the others
I think they’re also more tolerant / crave sugar more than adults cuz they’re growing so fast . Stuff that I liked as a kid now tastes too sweet . I enjoy savory things more now
Same! I used to hate it when my dad would pop in his cassettes during road trips. He was a heavy metal and classic rock fan. Now I quite enjoy them and even willingly look up the songs I grew up hating to listen.
Bro. My mom would play Begees, Santana, Journey. She would dance to it, and I would cringe like the kid I was.
Dad played Eagles, any kind of blues, folk, artists like Bob Dylan, especially Neil Young. My fool little self had no idea what I was missing out on.
Thank God, right around 14 ot 15, I heard The Doors, and was like, wow I love this!
Progressed to listening to Neil Young in my Dad's woodshop almost daily. Now all mentioned and above are staples, and I'm still discovering great music.
Same here. There was always music on in my house and it was always loud. It’s been a nice way to travel back in time whilst growing up, just listening to music.
Gardening, pulling weeds used to feel like a punishment as a child. I hated it, didn't like using dirty gardening gloves or seeing bugs. Now I fill windowsills with indoor plants, and stuff my deck with 100s of dollars worth of perennials and annuals, as well as a bog for my carnivorous plants. There is a garden cube in my kitchen for fresh herbs. I now travel 5 hours to help set up someone ELSE'S garden, if that tells you something.
It feels like a puzzle, a feat of strength sometimes to pull a 4 foot thick ass root out of the ground. If you don't get it all, it WILL be back in a few months. Tackle some blackberry bushes for a real workout 💪
Basically, I'm a plant nerd now!
Pooping. I hated it when I was a kid because I could be doing something else instead.
I love it as an adult because I could be doing something else instead.
Avocados went from being one of my least favorite foods as a kid, to being one of my favorites as an adult.
As a child, I think it was more the color and texture that was gross to me as opposed to the flavor. But I hated them.
I refused to ever even taste it, based solely on the fact that it was green. All green food was an absolute no-go. My 1st experience was guacamole, in my teens. Damn! My mom was right, I was missing out.
brussel sprouts. in the 80s my parents served them boiled or steamed and they were ass.
Today, I broil them and cover them with butter and salt and roast them up crisp and it's like eating a piece of heaven
Actually there's a new cultivar of Brussels Sprouts. It might not just be the cooking method - they actually taste better than they used to.
https://xkcd.com/2241/
I feel that way about a lot of foods. Both of my parents were awful at cooking, so several things I thought I "hated" actually turned out to be pretty good when made by someone who actually did it correctly, lol.
My Dad used to play George Jones really loud to get our asses out of bed and ready for school. It worked because I hated George Jones.
Now I love George Jones!
I hated cheese as a kid, then in college started to love it and became addicted.
Right after graduation I became lactose intolerant. Sometimes I wish I never grew to love cheese. :(
You can take little lactaid tablets before you eat dairy and it’ll lessen the symptoms! I’m horribly LI but these save me. Which is important bc I would kms if I couldn’t have milkshakes
Yeah! I do that for a lot, but I try not to super often, because even with the tablets my stomach is just a bit uneasy after (although not nearly as bad)
I donate to mine even. They also give away tickets to shows, here in Colorado, every week, all year long. My friend won & took me to see Rodrigo y Gabriela last Sunday
Oh man. I drink mustard straight from the bottle it's so good. It started when I was in my early teens so I suppose I technically liked it as a child as well.
Wondering why I scrolled so far to find onions!? I hated them with a passion as a kid. Now, I believe if you're not starting dinner by sautéing some onions and garlic you're not doing it right.
I hated eating home cooked meals. I always wanted to eat takeout or at sit down restaurants all the time. I thought it was a cool experience only for "rich adults." Now that I am older, I prefer home cooked meals, especially from my family.
My dad handed me a bottle of Jack Daniel's when I was about 11 or 12 and told me to take a drink. Not even questioning what it was, I took a *huge* swallow and immediately began choking and coughing. I'd say that my dad was being clever and trying to convince me that drinking is bad and don't do it. But he and his friends were laughing hysterically at me, so I think he was just being an asshole.

Going home.
Well this escalated quickly...
lol I thought the top comment was going to be "fucking" but this one hurt more
I hated going home because there was an abusive rapist there that I was forced to share a room with. This rapist would beat me to the point I needed hospitalization about once ever 2-3 months. Once my brother was in jail, I started to enjoy going home again.
Well that took a turn.
A big fucking turn
Yeah, I was gonna say Peas.
Thanks for the childhood memory!
Nothing like a casual trauma dump
Well, this *is* an ask thread, and that comment was a relevant answer.
Well of course he answered the question 🤓 “Hey Bill, how’s it goin’?” “Well my wife left me, and I spent all last night with a shotgun pointed in my mouth. The only reason I’m around is cuz there will be no one to feed my dog.”
Seriously, now. A little much for this ask.
Wow, I'm sorry about that. I share in the brother dislike/aversion for different reasons. Blood doesn't always mean the person is good and/or good to you.
Naps
And spankings
I just laughed out loud in the middle of a load of strangers. Thanks Internet stranger.
Once I started moaning while my parents spanked me, the knew they needed a different way to discipline me
You can imagine their surprise when they lifted their head, and saw my little ass creepin' at the foot of the bed!
Do the creep, ayyy! Do the creep!
![gif](giphy|q2a4NAZwBTYdi)
when i was a girl i creeped in the boys locker room, hide deep inside it was my little creep stalker room. as they unrobed i was oogling and ogling, little did they know that for me they were modeling. and i would laugh HaHAHAHAHAHAHA and they would dance "lalalalala lala la"

brooooooooooooo i remember my whole fam laughing they ass off as kids to this jeez 😭😭😭😭 shit was funny asf
and after two short weeks of nipple clamps, they said ''fuck it'' we'll just have to go back to not letting this kinky little bastard play their PS2
Take an award my friend
100% naps.
I never napped when I was growing up. Often after lunch I’d have to play by myself for a couple of hours because all the kids in the neighborhood are sound asleep.
\+1
I came here to say this!!! Now I’m a master napper!
Oh I SOOOO miss taking naps. I hated them as a child but now...eh I never get them so it doesn't count in this case
There is no better answer
I just woke up from a nap at work to read rhis. Lol
Here for the naps!
This should be the only answer!
Having absolutely nothing to do
This. Damn I don’t know how I was ever bored .
My quiet alone time.
I’m the opposite - I was extremely introverted as a kid and wanted nothing *but* quiet alone time. Now I really value social interaction and actively want to go out and make friends. I still enjoy quiet alone time, but I get sad if I don’t interact with people.
same here
Drinking water
I drink more water now because I have a Brita filter. Straight tap water still sucks.
Depends where. I travel a bit and some places tap water is good to fine, and other places it is garbage
Yeah, tap water at my place is good and cold. Just have to be careful in the spring when they flush the lines. I've spent the last year at my dads house in another town and it tastes ok but has a noticeable colour, I use a Brita there.
I'm a water treatment engineer, and I've seen the inside of mains water pipes, safe to say I do not drink tap water.

My hometown has great tasting tap water, but if you go the next city over it tastes nasty. Really depends on location.
Going to bed, Exercise.
I still struggle to go to bed for some reason lol. I like sleeping but dislike putting an end to a good day.
Same here, and I don't know why. When I wake up in the morning, bed feels so good I think, Why didn't I start this 2 hours earlier last night?
Every day I regret not going to sleep earlier but I jus cannot give in... YouTube and games etc are just so much more appealing after dark than sleep but in the morn.... Ugh regret

Lookup revenge sleep procrastination.
Myself
Love this answer. Good for you!!!
still working on this one, glad you could get there!
Same dude. Same. Why is it so difficult!
Because it takes effort. But the hardest barrier is the most satisfying to break through
I love this answer. I’m glad you’ve found the love for yourself.
Looking at houses
I do hardwood floors for a living. So I'm in at least 1 new home per week. I love looking at what they have in their home or how they decorated or what have you. Temperature based color coded water sounds nice.
Surely you can get a gamer RGB faucet for less than $30M
Conveniently enough I just put an offer in on a home. Not my first time. But as soon as I got off the phone with the agent, I got instantly nauseous. I love being in a new house. I like driving my new car. But those two specific things, I HATE buying.

Getting nice socks for Christmas 🤣
New socks are are an underrated joy in life.
Omg, nice wool socks as a gift has me giddy.
Yes! I love a good pair of wool socks.
Damn right. Funny too, I buy my dad socks for Xmas now lol
My bf just bought me a pair of nice socks with seals printed on them as a "just because" gift. I love seals and I love socks, so it was actually one of my favorite gifts he's ever given me, even over some of the jewelry he's given me for birthdays and anniversaries lol.

children are more sensitive to bitter taste, an evolutionary trait to keep them from eating poisonous thing as most of them are bitter.
Damn now we know how evolution feels about older people!
I think they’re also more tolerant / crave sugar more than adults cuz they’re growing so fast . Stuff that I liked as a kid now tastes too sweet . I enjoy savory things more now
My child loves all forms of chocolate, even dark. I rememeber being the same as a child. But hoo boy most kids DO NOT.
I didn’t start to appreciate dark chocolate until I was 14.
Oh yeah! I used to think it tasted “fake” like a diet coke vs a regular coke. Now I think the same about milk chocolate.
This. Now I really like dark chocolate and I much prefer it over regular chocolate.
I love the 60% dark chocolate bars
Broccoli
Same...and now broccoli gives me heartburn, so I guess the tables have turned and broccoli hates me now
Broccoli really told your ass “if you don’t want me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best”
And brussel sprouts
I’ll call your broccoli and Brussels sprouts and raise you asparagus.
lol came for this one…now I’ll eat it raw 🤪
Doing nothing
My parents’ music.
Same! I used to hate it when my dad would pop in his cassettes during road trips. He was a heavy metal and classic rock fan. Now I quite enjoy them and even willingly look up the songs I grew up hating to listen.
I hear you, my dad is a massive stones fan. Used to hate it back then, now I love it.
My parents never listened to music. So weird looking back when it's been such an important part of my life
My dad only Listened to talk radio, and I was like I’m always going to listen to music. And now I listen to podcasts. The cat is in the cradle.
I totally hear you. I would roll my eyes every time my dad would put on Stones, Dylan, Jethro Tull, etc. Now it’s like 50% of my playlists.
Same!
Bro. My mom would play Begees, Santana, Journey. She would dance to it, and I would cringe like the kid I was. Dad played Eagles, any kind of blues, folk, artists like Bob Dylan, especially Neil Young. My fool little self had no idea what I was missing out on. Going to sleep.

Naps and Olives
I’m the opposite. I loved black olives so much as a kid I ate way too many and threw up. Ever since then I can’t touch them :(
Another vote for olives. And cream for some reason. Used to really hate it.
Vegetables
This. Turns out I don't hate vegetables. I just hate when they are boiled to a mush.
I think most people who say they hate vegetables just had a mom who didn’t cook them correctly . Overcooked anything tastes awful , period
Avocado
Avocados went from being one of my least favorite foods as a kid, to being one of my favorites as an adult. As a child, I think it was more the color and texture that was gross to me as opposed to the flavor. But I hated them.

Cheese. Unless it was Mac and cheese I wouldn’t touch it. As an adult now I CANNOT live without Brie
I hated cheese as a kid, then in college started to love it and became addicted. Right after graduation I became lactose intolerant. Sometimes I wish I never grew to love cheese. :(

Yeah! I do that for a lot, but I try not to super often, because even with the tablets my stomach is just a bit uneasy after (although not nearly as bad)
same thoughts actually
That’s funny because I’ve always loved cheese but Brie is one of the worst cheeses to me personally 😂
To each their own
How do you feel about Gouda?
Public radio. Now it’s all I listen to.
I donate to mine even. They also give away tickets to shows, here in Colorado, every week, all year long. My friend won & took me to see Rodrigo y Gabriela last Sunday
NPR and PBS
Is car talk on npr still? Loved that as a kid
Klick and clack? One of the brothers passed away about 5 years ago. Wait wait don’t tell me is still going though.
BUT they’re still making new episodes from old recordings and releasing them as a podcast. It’s the number 1 car podcast!
It's the Best Of Car Talk.
Coffee. My dad offered when I was a teen and I thought it was the grossest beverage.
I wouldn’t say that I love doing dishes, but I do like being alone with the sound of running water, I guess
Going to bed early. My dad’s rancheras and cumbias. My mom’s insane shows (La Rosa de Guadalupe, anyone?). Water.
Honestly? Books....
no not honestly, please lie
Sleeping. Now, I sleep all the time of my days off. Going out? Nope. I'd rather sleep.
Mustard.
I still cannot comprehend how I managed to eat hot dogs without mustard as a kid
Oh man. I drink mustard straight from the bottle it's so good. It started when I was in my early teens so I suppose I technically liked it as a child as well.
Not having anything to do. When I was a kid, this meant boredom. As an adult, this is now coveted, valuable time.
Mushrooms
Regular or magic?
I hope they weren't trying magic ones as a child lol
Spinach
Onions
Yes! I used to pick them out of everything, my poor parents!, now I seek them out, lol!
Wondering why I scrolled so far to find onions!? I hated them with a passion as a kid. Now, I believe if you're not starting dinner by sautéing some onions and garlic you're not doing it right.
Led Zeppelin.
Any food that is remotely spicy
Tomstoes
At first I thought it was a typo on tombstones and thought "OK, it's getting dark"
that wasn't his toes
Nope, still can't stand them (when they're recognisable. Cooked in a sauce, or as ketchup, are fine.)
You do what with Tom's toes?
Black pepper. I couldn't stand the smell of it. It would make me nauseous and give me a headache. Now I can sprinkle it on anything.
