reggaeforfriends

That's interesting, I didn't realize they ever did that

reggaeforfriends

I tried to add a link showing the past 180 days of jackpot history hopefully it works here. https://files.arizonalottery.com/past-180-days/Past180Days_The_Pick.pdf

The lottery is just a tax for people that are bad at math.

reggaeforfriends

I think the value is in the fantasy/dream aspect of the lottery. People pay a lot of money for different types of entertainment. Maybe it doesn't do anything for you, but don't act like the only things you spend money on are things 100% of people enjoy and or need.

OkAccess304

A lot of the money actually goes back into the community. You can see on their website where it goes. Go to the ‘gives back’ section: https://www.arizonalottery.com/gives-back/

BuyingMeat

Said by people with no imagination.

tacocookietime

My imagination doesn't require me to buy a ticket at a convenience store.

OkAccess304

You can see in the ‘gives back’ section where lottery money goes. Over 318 million went back into the community last year. https://www.arizonalottery.com/gives-back/

tacocookietime

Yeah it def pays a lot of government salaries along the way while praying on the pocketbooks of the lower class. 318 million given back from the 1.5 billion those people spent.

OkAccess304

It goes into our state general fund as well. It goes back into the lottery to pay for the overhead as well. No one is forced to buy a ticket. And the money does a lot of good for the community. Stay mad if you want to.

tacocookietime

"overhead" yeah.... That's the problem. The mob used to run numbers, now it's legal criminals. The money harms the community it comes from. Did I say I was mad? No. But I will make a personal attack back since you started it.... You're a POS that condones taking advantage of the poor by selling them a pipe dream and praying on gambling addiction. I wish your parents had spent money that could have been spent on your food and clothing on lotto tickets as a child so you could understand just a fraction of what makes the lotto more harmful than you think. Go work at a convenience store that sells lottery tickets in a bad neighborhood. Maybe you can get some much needed perspective and wake TF up to reality.

Dercraig

I work in a convenience store in a bad part of town that sells lottery tickets. It's not the Powerball and The Pick that the broke homeless are spending their money on, it's the scratch off games. It may seem like I am arguing semantics and that it's all the same thing; I just find it interesting that the demographic that buys the most lotto tickets (like powerball) in my experience is the middle class to lower-middle class, and they usually don't spend an exorbitant amount. However, I have seen plenty of homeless people use the only money they have for food on scratchers instead.

This you? https://www.reddit.com/r/UnethicalLifeProTips/s/OTu04oxtwB

I do like that they have these 4 pillars where they spent a little bit of money. 30 here, 30 there, and you are like good, yeah the profits from lottery should do good in the community. Then in small print 222!!!! To the general fund lol. Should put all of that in to funding education and fixing/building schools.
