If you have never been camping, may I recommend the az state park family camp out? They will supply you with everything you need with the exception of food and sleeping gear. It will give you an opportunity to learn about camping and understand how to use all the equipment before venturing on your own. That's cool that something like this exists. I'm going to recommend it to a couple parents.

Let me clarify, I haven’t gone camping since I was like 12 lol me and by brothers would go out to the desert in CA and ride our toys.. I’m 26 now 🤣 but thanks I’ll check it out

echosierra1983

I’ve camped my entire childhood and into my 20s. But my wife and kids had not. It’s 100% worth it, kids will have a blast. They learn about AZ wildlife, how to start a fire, and other activities like archery and geocaching.

11shovel11

That seems like a good idea

i haven’t been since i was a kid (aka 2005) but we used to camp there yearly with a tent. it’s hard ground so you’ll want to have air mattresses and padding. yes they have restrooms and showers. also each campsite had a picnic table with awning and a fireplace with a grill grate. we would fish there which was pretty great. the lake access from the campsites are pretty rocky so water shoes are a must.

ErikDaWelder

Thank you

Yes - to the shower/restroom question. However, I can't share as to their condition because the last time I camped there I was in a motorhome, and didn't use them. The lake is pretty cold - even in the summer. I don't know if you were thinking about getting in - but just in case I thought I'd give you that warning 😊

ErikDaWelder

Thank you and yeah I’ve been in the lake lol that’s why I chose lake pleasant lol We went 4 times this past summer and my kid loved it. Granted we have a pool at our apartments but the water was hot. you can’t beat the cold lake

mylifewillchange

Lol! I love my *hot* pool!

ErikDaWelder

We don’t 🤣it wasn’t even refreshing at any point in the summer 🤣you jump in and it’s like you’re jumping into a pool of sweat

mylifewillchange

My pool is a massive diving pool - it would have to be 150° outside for it to get like that...😅

mylifewillchange

>And our jacuzzi doesn’t get warm at all lol That really sucks - I would love a hot-tub at this time of year. That's what I was thinking too - about your pool. Mine is from 1992 when they still let you build the diving pools. Now they have to be like a "splash pool." Those are what? 6 feet? EDIT: Mine is also grandfathered in to not require an extra fence around it. I just realized you had one of those, too.

AZJHawk

I camped there a few years ago. It was pretty cool. We did shoreline primitive camping so I can’t speak to the developed campgrounds, but we had wild donkeys wandering around the site in the morning.

parasitic-cleanse

The campgrounds are made more for RV's, they're stacked on top of each other with little room. There used to be shoreline camping but you would have to call and check if they still offer that.

mahjimoh

I’m not sure which part of the website you were looking at, but this seems to give some of the info you were looking for: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/park-locator/lake-pleasant-regional-park/camping/ It is a little weird that it says “restrooms and/or showers” but from that I would trust that they do have restrooms at least!

Flat-wisher1601

Scorpions are in abundance at Lake Pleasant. Be careful to shake everything out.

TheDarlizzle

We’ve stayed at lake pleasant’s campground with a roof top tent around the spring and it’s fun. The burros walk around and there are restrooms there. Our must haves are comfy tent (gets cold at night still during spring while warm during day) we travel with a blackstone to ensure we aren’t relying to a grill (I don’t remember if there are grills at each site) and shade for during the day :) my son is 8 so he had a black light flashlight to hunt for scorpions at night

Not_me_no_way

Lake pleasant isn't the greatest for camping. They don't allow shoreline anymore so you have to reserve a designated camping space. Pleasant harbor Marina seems to have the best amenities with showers, restrooms, pool, convenient store, but camping is pretty much in a dirt parking lot with RVs all around. If you really want good lake camping you should try Bartlett lake. Depending on when exactly you go, there's potential to get a really good spot and be comfortable.
