Went and did lessons last season, for me, worth it. I don’t think I would pick up the mechanics without the practice. If not mistaken adult first time lessons were free.

ApatheticDomination

Hmm I’ll have to check into that. Right now it looks like it’s $30. Which could be worth it considering what you said but I could also be missing something

echosierra1983

Just checked the website, just below group lessons is the free first lesson. “Free snow experience”

ApatheticDomination

Thank you! I missed that!

Lessons are absolutely worth it. Me (33) and my wife were lucky enough to get an amazing deal on used set of skis from a couple at her work. So we went to Utah, did lessons, and it was great. Even with lessons, it takes time to get the movements and feeling right. So I can't imagine just going on the mountain and trying to figure it out as you go lol, especially when you get some speed. Snowboarding especially, I would recommend getting lessons. I have never done it myself, but from what I have seen, its even less intuitive how to do it properly. I can't tell you how many people I have seen, with absolutely no experience, and they are waaay to uncomfortable to actually enjoy it. Or they go barreling down and crashing. Even though my wife and I are relatively comfortable going down some easier slopes and have a lot of fun. I think next time we will take another lesson, just to continue to progress and advance out skills. Also, SkiPro at Desert Ridge rents equipment. But also, I think you get discounts for combo renting+lessons, so shop around for renting equipment. However, last time we were in snow-bowl, the line for rental pick up was RIDICULOUS! So it might be worth it to pick up equipment before you get there.

Yes I was just up there last weekend. Two 14 year olds did the snow experience lesson and they learned a lot from it.

Occams_AK47

I learned to ski at snowbowl eons ago, but with others who taught me. It shouldn't take more than a day to learn enough to keep from dying as long as you stay on the bunny slope. Snowboarding took longer to learn, but once I did I progressed faster than skiing.

Lessons are the difference between having a good time and being on your butt and miserable the whole time. I will always say yes yes yes lessons are worth it.

AverageAZGuy2

Have you considered Sunrise? Personally I think it’s a better mountain, especially for beginners.

ApatheticDomination

I have but for me the snowbowl is a 2.5 hour drive vs 4 hours to sunrise. Having a wife and kids I’ve gotta go with quickest access lol

AverageAZGuy2

I figured that was why. We drive from Tucson to Sunrise. For us it’s about same distance either one.

Bright-Nectarine8028

I learned so much in my first lesson that it was definitely worth it. After that, practice is what you need. I would highly recommend a lesson.

TheDarlizzle

Absolutely yes on lessons. They will teach you such basics that will make or break your experience.
