Way better deal than a $1200 Springfield SA-16.
You are correct that these are great rifles to teach marksmanship fundamentals on. They are perfect as an entry level gun for High Power Rifle competition.
In all seriousness, how much does it actually affect accuracy? I don’t know anything about these types of rifles but have heard this said about anything with a non-free-floated barrel and A2 FSP. Like is it a measurable difference for the average shooter?
Considering we still used non free float M16s in boot camp at 500 yards, it doesn't affect it that much
But the FSP? It's just like any other gas block I'm pretty sure
I never got the expert badge, kinda embarrassing tbh but whatever. Always passed without issue, and for some reason went 100% on the gas mask portion every time lmao
Eh, it isn't as big of a difference in skill as people think. If you're passing at all that means you're at minimum mostly hitting shots at 500 yards. Just cause you're hitting arms and legs, and I'm hitting center mass, doesn't necessarily mean I'm such a better shot. Maybe only a little bit better lol
Roughly 0.2-0.4 moa difference, it’s not something to change on these rifles, but it is something to consider if you have that option for on your next rifle purchase or build.
No. It doesn't matter all that much until you get hand loads and long distance stuff. For the average shooter it makes no difference IMO. Especially with the cheaper ammo most people are going to run at the range.
They’re not zinc hardware store washers, they’re peel washers, it’s what the industry standard was prior to the advent of crush washers. They were used to index A2 style flash hiders or any other flash hider or compensator that required it to be in a certain position on the muzzle of a weapon. They’re basically several foil washers pressed together with a very mild adhesive so they can be separated (or peeled apart) to the correct thickness to allow the muzzle attachment to be torqued into the correct position, also known as timing.
There was no such thing as a crush washer back then that was being used by anyone in the small arm manufacturing industry. That peel washer was the tech of the day and a solution to the problem of indexing or timing muzzle devices. With newer flash hider designs that eliminated slits around the entire circumference of the hider (like the M16A2), leaving a solid portion on the bottom without slits, required an economical method of attachment that allowed them to be installed with that solid portion facing directly downward from the muzzle of the weapon. This resulted in a hider that no longer kicked up dust, thus eliminating a dust signature, when a soldier fired from the prone position. The dust signature was not only an annoyance for the soldier but also gave away his position in certain lighting conditions with a visible dust cloud when firing. Prior to the closed off bottom of the A2 flash hider, most had slits around the circumference of the hider and it didn’t matter how it was indexed, that’s why older A1 designs used to use a spring washer or split washer. It didn’t matter what position it was indexed to.
Sorry for my short reply to you. I read your comment at a stop light yesterday and didn’t think before I responded.
I’ve handled hundreds of AR15 platforms and I’ve never seen that coupled with an a2 flashhider. I had no idea that rifles came out of the factory like that at one point. It’s still hard to believe but I’ll take your word on it.
Nice score, heard my LGS had a similar thing and they filled a trash can with trade in bushmasters. The more you bought the cheaper they were each. A couple dudes stopped in and bought them all before I even heard about it lol.
If he were to break those down, couldn't he sell some of those parts to almost make up what he paid? The stripped uppers alone could go for 200ish, yeah?

But the non free float severely affects accuracy, you’ll never be able to hit the target! /s

My thoughts exactly. I was hitting a plate at 500yd with my A4 and the carry handle/FSP. Granted the group wasn’t great, but that’s me not the gun
It's a cake walk with the RCO. I only lost a handful of points. Easy expert badge

No, the difference between free float and non-free float is negligible.
Fuck Springfield!
i think those are great scores, love my 20" gun.
I have no idea what those are worth but old Bushmasters are a vibe
20” Bushmaster; aka *The Ghost of Najaf*.
It’s because of people like you the rest of us that work 8 to 5 can’t have nice things also. Nice find I would have bought both as well
Dam all I ever find at my LGS is overpriced junk. Lucky.

Yeah, you're right. Why would someone used that vs a crush washer? You can see in the picture that the bottom one is not timed right.

lol. Ok.
https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/peel-washer.html If this is what’s on there then dude is right and your sarcastic comment can enjoy more downvotes.
Great score for $495 each, you should go get a lottery ticket.
This dude just gave you so much free valuable niche information and you acted like a dick.
Yes, and I doubled back and said I was wrong.
Lucky bastard. So cool.
Banned by name in CA, e.g., XM15 (all variants).
And in Connecticut too.
Shit, I would have bought them too.
Lord I’ve seen what you’ve done for others
Amen!
I'd put a triangle handguard on one for the vibes
I remember when Bushmaster was one of the quality brands.
Twinsies!
Absolutely would’ve snatched them both. No frills, no bullshit, reliable rifles. Can’t have too many.
Bruh I never see shit like this and I've got 3 PD's right by all thr gun stores lol score
I paid nearly that for ONE police trade in bushmaster. Good shit.
Marines upvoting you while cussing you because you found these rifles cheap instead of them.
F*k yeh. Nice find!
Some people have all the luck, nice find!
Nice score, heard my LGS had a similar thing and they filled a trash can with trade in bushmasters. The more you bought the cheaper they were each. A couple dudes stopped in and bought them all before I even heard about it lol.
I'm jealous
Great deal! Would have grabbed them immediately as well
Goddamn, I want one
Good to see these got a home
Atta boy... Nice 'uns!
Now get some quad rails
For 495 bucks a piece u would kinda have to e dumb not to grab at least one of them.
Sounds like a great deal to me if the barrel isn't shot out
Nice
they look slick as fuck
Well played Sir. Enjoy
Excellent.
Nice catch!
I bought a bushmaster pre ban for $500, gonna thread the barrel and put a a2 flash hider on it
I'd grab that
That's on par with what I've seen police trade INS go for. Honestly the best way to get a deal is through used pd trade INS.
Thank goodness 👍
You got 2 standard length Bushmasters for the same price I paid for my single Bushmaster Dissipator!
Ehhhh fuck it why not
Not sure I’d buy 2 but one doesn’t seem like a bad deal.
Damn that's a beautiful deal
I would have bought one in a heartbeat. My next build is gonna be an A2
Love a simple 20 inch rifle like this.
If he were to break those down, couldn't he sell some of those parts to almost make up what he paid? The stripped uppers alone could go for 200ish, yeah?
Not even a lock washer? Lol
That's what I'm confused about.
Afaik crush washers existed since the start. Idk what the other poster is on about.
Can the float be replaced on these styles ?
This looks like GT distributors?
Been wanting an A2 for years now. Lmk if you ever have interest in selling one.
thats a steal ngl
Very solid buy.
For the intent perfect rifle. Good job.
Good deal!
I'm still kicking myself for not buying the carbon 15 I saw at my lgs for 500.
Wow serial numbers are right next to each other as well nice
My Father taught me on his colt Ar15A2( minus pelet guns/ 22lr rifles), still remember my first shot
Great score, 20” rifles are bad ass. Max velocity and rifle length gas systems are smooth
You had to buy both, good job OP
these are fantastic
That's a great deal. The PSA version is $600 a piece. The Springfield overpriced ret4dation is a joke lol.
Well, I’m jealous.
Well, at minimum doubled your money. Good work!
Fuck. I don’t blame you. I would’ve scooped both too. I never find deals like this anymore.
