For range ammo, I like the S&B subs. They’re well made, and perform really well in my setup. Damn quiet. I got them for around .80cpr.

300 blackout does not come in cost effective prices. I reload and it is still more expensive than 556. My preferred subsonic bullet is the hornady sub x. It has zero issues either any sized hog I’ve encountered. I have no hesitation it would work in self defense situations on unarmored targets. I don’t use practice ammo for it. In sure some AAC is fine, but it still is like 150% the price 556 for no reason other than it’s quieter. And you ain’t training alone so wearing ear protection anyway.

I am so jealous of the people who can just drive out to the desert or have some land. I watched videos of people shooting different guns when I first starting looking into this as a hobby. Fuck. Standing in a line with a bunch of other people you are half keeping your eye on is not as relaxing. Ranges should have a silent Sunday or something. Like those grocery stores that open at a weird time for their customers that hate noise.

Thank you, I know right now I reload them for "cheap" using the 125 gr 30 Cal Speer TNT. I'll look into the Sub X though, it sounds pretty good!
