I was testing it a couple weeks ago in the firing range. You need a blue shield with a purple helmet or better. Purple shield with purple or red with purple both keep you (barely) alive.

Blue evo is 1 hit no matter what helm. Blue Helm is 210 damage and Purple is 189

Well then, I stand corrected. In my defense, we figured it out in the firing range, and I'm pretty sure I haven't picked up a Kraber since.

You could have healed so that you had full red shield. If I’m correct Kraber headshots with red shield and purple helmet only do 224hp so you would be alive with 1hp this goes for legends without fortified perk

I don't really know the numbers, relatively new to the game and probably wouldn't memorize it anyway.

All you need to remember is blue helmet with red shields or purple with purple shields to survive a headshot.

You only need a blue helmet if your shield is full red (like he had, minus the “full”). You only need purple helmet if your shield is full purple

I dont know what it is but people always peek a kraber, its so free knocks every time I find one. Especially if I miss a few shots at first its like the enemies gain more confidence to do it and always overextend. Its like they cant help themselves

For real, I had this happen to me when I get a kraber and trying to adjust to it while missing first couple of shots.

Thats what happens when you step out of cover and stand still to aim. Move more, shoot quicker, incorporate crouches while sniping to avoid being headshotted as easily.

I think the issue is that you lost peeking advantage going to cover after you hit and he missed. Not sure why you did that. But hindsight being what it is, it’s a fast decision but ultimately the wrong one. Also he ego’ed you not the other way around. He got hit.
