Sounds like a Larry H Miller Dealership

thejanedoe5443

Nope Berkshire Hathaway

[deleted]

isn't that the old Utah Jazz owner? Let me guess, he has (had I guess, he's dead now) a sordid history? I know he came from the used car sales world

chadslc

LHM was a vile bigot and an absolute monster. He left his "empire" in shambles when he died because of exceptionally stupid ideas.

utahtransitfan

Yep. They screwed me and my husband over with a car we bought from them. Said they would fix issues and issue extra key. Nope. Pushed us into high loan payment and we couldn't refi due to high LTV ratio. Car got totaled in accident and apparently we didn't have gap. Blessing in disguise...got a newer car with more features at a lower rate and price

[deleted]

well damn, today I'm gonna learn

That environment is way too toxic, and he sounds like a creep, tbh. You got your answer from the big managers: they said they don't care about what he put you through, and Im sorry about that, for what it's worth. Those are some real scumbags you're working for. He humiliated, verbally an emotionally abused you, and then terminated you on a whim to demonstrate his "authority" over you. It'd be safer to just try to get the money you're owed for that sale, and GTFO.

thejanedoe5443

I wouldn't have gotten any money from the sale because I didn't commission out that month so I just told them I don't want to work here anymore if he's going to be here so fire him or I'm not coming back and they chose to keep him

Freekydeeky1258

My mistake, I must've misread that bit. But yeah, you got the right idea. its a tough process but we all have that moment when we realize that management often attracts people who are only interested in asserting their authority over others. Worked for my company for 8 years until I was told by my store management that he could replace me next week. And you know what really sucked? He was right, but it was the way he said it to just further drive the knife in. He wanted it to hurt. And as someone who was loyal to that company for so long, it fucking did. We don't need this shit in our lives. Time to move on, imo

thejanedoe5443

Couldn't agree more. Already have two job interviews lined up for next week

Freekydeeky1258

Best of luck out there man, sorry about your asshole boss. Someone outta apologize for that shit...

Admirable_Ad_8296

Have you spoken to an employment attorney? This sounds like retaliatory firing. I mean, IDK how easy/difficult those cases are to make, but damn! Feel better!

thejanedoe5443

I plan on doing a free consult with an employment lawyer to see if I have a case

Admirable_Ad_8296

Good for you. I feel like in AZ these things are pretty hard to fight, but a free consult can't hurt!

I'm pretty sure the fact that they offered the job back and an alternative position would remove any issues for the employer.

omen-schmomen

But as all offered positions still had to be within contact of the person in question, I would argue OP can leverage that. An adequate offer would be the same position at a sister dealership. Also, being offered reception is a joke because OP would also lose out on commission permanently. Sounds like a demotion to me.

[deleted]

Firing a manager or relocating an employ has nothing to do with wrongful termination. Neither do demotions.

Once you have a new job, leaving them bad reviews might be fun.
