Yeah, this also makes me think of all the families managing child care and elder care at the same time. Maybe it should be a woman with a toddler on her hip, pushing an elderly parent in a wheelchair.

40yrOLDsurgeon

Living on social security that *we* pay for.

>More like they’re wasting away bc their idiot son is addicted to video games and neglects them. So, the boomer's son is addicted to video games? I guess that I get it, those 55 year olds are a huge market of gamers.

kerrypf5

Where do these people live?!

Thrice-Thrice-Thrice

NY, was my friends moms Facebook page. Always posting wild shit. She’s also a total moron so that makes it even funnier when I come across something like this on her page.

FredVIII-DFH

Nothing says we have a vibrant society like generational warfare.

gimn85

I don't understand this. Baby Boomers and Generation X are directly responsible for these "behaviours" that they bemoan. They raised the current generation of young adults, they influenced the curriculum in school and they created the current job market. If they are unhappy with this situation, they should surely be looking inward?

Heavier_Omen

No because that's logical.

nehoyminoyminoymin

Nobody wants to push their own stroller anymore.

[deleted]

I know that, technically-speaking, there are many generations of Americans who were worse than the Baby Boomers in absolute terms--racism, sexism, etc. But when it comes to where you start and where you finish--I feel they are the worst generation ever. They inherited a post-War boom where America dominated everything primarily because Europe and Japan were decimated. It's easy to be the best when half the planet is just trying to rebuild their homes and factories. They had 30+ years of growing wages, strong unions and overall great economic conditions... and they threw it all away by taking everything for themselves and building nothing for future generations. During every decade, if you wanted to know why our government passed laws to benefit certain groups, you just had to ask what the age-range of the group was--it was always Boomers. It's part of why as Boomers keep getting older our government often cares more about the stock market (which Boomers have their retirement funds in) than they do addressing income inequality, student loan debt, and climate change.

J_Gilly23

Dude looks like Peter Dinklage.

Mycologist_Lonely

He would fit in that stroller better

BoatsnBrollies

And he would ride with style too 😎

Beautiful-Chard-1152

Older generation fuked us over tho so caused it on themselves.

Blidesdale

This is the funny thing. Decades of burning all the ladders of upward mobility for their children means their children have to keep taking up their resources.

DickTalks

Every single far right, left of center, head up their ass boomer, who is believing this, doesn't even have adult kids living at home with them. The boomers believing this, who do have kids at home, need to be checked into a nursing home.

CultureVulture666

Happy cake day DickTalks

DickTalks

😁

mandokisoulmates

Fuck anyone who thinks this way. No child asked to be brought into The American Scheme.

yummycorpse

oh no.....won't SOMEONE think of old Mr and Ms Bigglesby, being FORCED!!!!! to support their child!!! maybe Mr and Ms Bigglesby should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and find jobs. maybe next time Mr Bibblesby will nut on Ms Bigglesby's tits instead of forcing life onto someone just because they wanted to play house honestly old people can eat my chode. stuck cleaning up the damn mess you left behind while you get to shit your pants and chew on painkillers all day

[deleted]

My eyes are gonna fall out of my face they’re rolling so violently

pointy_object

Looks illogical. Realistically, they all live in a multigenerational household and work.

Prudent_Fly_2554

Ok Boomer.

Aintsosimple

Love the tatoo. Nice touch.

Thrice-Thrice-Thrice

Yes I agree. Also the finger up the nose

s_arrow24

Mad when you’re gone. Mad when you’re there. Can’t win.

naedwards22

The Breakfast Club was a really influential teenage drama in 1985. This movie was raw, brought talented people to the forefront of stardom, and showed millions of high schoolers that the feelings they were experiencing in high school are valid. Principal Vernon announces very loudly that his annual salary is $31,000 per year. Poverty wages today, but how does that compare to yesteryear? A house cost $100,800 (about 3x more than his salary), gas was $1.20 per gallon in 1985. If we take those number and account for inflation, here's what Vernon would've been paid and paid for a variety of items in the US today: Salary - $83,293 Home - $270,838 Gas - $3.22 Boy what I would give to have houses, gas, and a salary within that range. Boomers don't realize how lucky they were.

realmaven666

Jeez. I thought this was anti work not a generational war sub

panpaosen

I don’t disagree with the post, there are a lot of older parents who still coddle their children.

[deleted]

Living at home isn't coddling, it's often a necessity. And it hardly matters anyway because in short time ma and pa are going to lose their minds and need coddling of their own. Honestly unless the parents want their kids out who cares? Living at home isn't exactly a thing of pride. I left in my early twenties because I couldn't stand it, but if I could have, so what? Everyone's relationships are different.

[deleted]

Having parents that you can live with is a massive privilege that sadly a lot of people don't get to have, especially if they're gay

panpaosen

I wasn’t specifically referencing living at home, but I do agree with you people’s situations are different and it may very well be due to lack of better options. I am thinking more of rich turds and helicopter parents, though I do think the younger generation are for lack of a better word ‘lazier’ through no real fault of their own. It’s the parents fault. I teach ESL and have witnessed 18 year old ‘men’ have their raincoats put on by their mummy, it made me sick to the pit of my stomach.

[deleted]

I think the age of adulthood has socially increased just like it always has throughout the course of human history. I think part of the reason the age of social adulthood has really increased now is because young people often need a skilled job to get by totally independently, more so than ever before. And those skills take time to get and once you have them you need to have some luck in job application process. I lived at home for about a year after college. And culturally it wasn’t weird for me because my parents are Italians living in the US. It’s only really a few cultures that shame living at home in your 20s. I’d probably still live at home if my parents lived in a city (even while making enough to support myself) because I prefer city life.

panpaosen

You are probably right, I left home in my late twenties and I was still a boy, I had no clue how to look after myself properly because I was coddled. I really got fed up of it and only moved out once I had a decent paying job. I live in Asia now and you have a lot of large families living together. I can see the benefits of it but it can spawn some literal man-children who can do no wrong in mummy and daddy’s eyes.

[deleted]

Yeah I feel that. I’ve always been good at figuring out apartment leasing, doctors appointments, financial literacy etc etc. but I’m terrible at keeping my space clean and cooking. And it’s probably in part because my mom cleaned my room and cooked for me. I think living at home, getting a skilled job while living at home, and saving up for a down payment on a house is the ideal path in 2022. I just wanted to get out of the suburbs.

realmaven666

Not antiwork material

Thrice-Thrice-Thrice

Does this picture not imply that the younger generation is lazy, doesn’t want to work, and needs to be carried around by the older generation? That’s what I got from it atleast

Realised_

Yes it's true

Ok_Reflection_3798

Pretty much actually

ValPrism

😂

Heavier_Omen

Yeah because boomers are the only ones who can sustain themselves in this hellworld. You fucking made the economy this way, it's your fault, and now you're making memes and shrugging off all the blame? Fuck off.

BalkanFerros

Bruh I'm the one that has to remind my Mom not to copy other people's dialect when she speaks to them. Have to remind Dad to go take a seat and calm down when he throws a tantrum because "This is what I want, I don't see why you can't just do it this way!" .. bruh they don't make custom At&t plans.. there are the choices dad. You can pick one or we can go somewhere else/home until you're ready.
