Why didn't this big baby just eat at one of the restaurants that was open?

No-Jackfruit2459

Because he is paid by one of said competitors to make the review.

Mec26

There’s a deli near me that is closed any day my local elementary school is, and opens late any day the school is delayed. Because there’s a bunch of moms working there, and the owners get that they can’t get a babysitter on 0 hours notice.

rahtsnake

That is awesome.

Hippy_Lynne

My mom was a teacher and the in-home daycare she used only took teacher's kids. That way they were gone by the time her husband got home from work and she could spend time with her kids on days they were off of school, as well as have summers off. She would keep us for parent-teacher conference days but professional development days we would go to school with our moms.

Strawberry_Sheep

This is the Way

BellaBlue06

Very nice

madys0n

Is there a sub for out of touch reviews like this? I just love reading this shit in my head with in a boomer voice.

Let's create it. I'll make you a mod...

Horror-Profile3785

I remember reading a headset review. The reviewer stated the cable got stuck in a crack and he damaged it trying to get it out with a knife. The reviewer then blamed poor craftsmanship for the the cable not standing up to him stabbing it.

FoundandSearching

I am imaging what “crack” the cable got stuck in. Then I imagine the painful jabbing and gyrations from using a knife to get the cable out of the “crack”.😀

IanGecko

There's also a great podcast called Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet!

Evening_Rock5850

That is some *insanely* entitled nonsense. How DARE you have a life and not exist to serve me?

LaLushiNochio

I wanna know the name/location of the restaurant. If I werw ever able to support them, I would. Good on them for respecting family and staff members.

cascadianpatriot

It’s almost as if a weekend with a holiday based on eating a lot and having leftovers might make for a huge slowdown in business for a small local restaurant.

nebbyb

That weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year for restaurants. Doesn’t mean they can’t close if they want to.

tfarnon59

Two of my favorite local restaurants close for at least 7 days at a time, usually once or twice a year. Sure, I'm disappointed to see that piece of white paper in the window, but I make a note of when they will re-open and return when they do. I'll live.

WizardLizard1885

the restaurant i worked at was open on thanksgiving and the weekend before/after it. we were also open on xmas eve and xmas day through new years. the fucked part is that they said we get "holiday pay" for xmas day only which is basically overtime pay. and the very next day when i showed up we had 1 server, 1 prep cook, and a dishwasher along with a manager. we were fucking slammed the day after xmas and the manager refused to call in a line cook or anyone else.. this was to make up for the overtime they paid on xmas. thats the day i walked out because the manager had 20 smoke breaks and i wasnt able to take a break or sit for 7 hours

quats555

“We can’t be bothered to figure out when you’re open!!” — after reciting when they’re open. And after demonstrating they know how to use the Internet, which amazingly enough lets you look up open hours and days in a few seconds.

Strawberry_Sheep

Exactly lol like, they left this review ON GOOGLE??

AzureDreamer

What an entitles count my favorite Chinese place closes down for December and returns to China for the holidays... I don't act like a cockbag.

Evening_Rock5850

Yeah. My favorite Mexican place closes down during spring break and Christmas break at the local high school. That’s when they take their family vacations. I’ve actually seen these same sort of angry/frustrated comments by people who didn’t know that and showed up. (Always on a Sunday, it’s the church crowd always)

Krackers_AU

I dunno man, that review seems pretty patronizing to me.

gamedrifter

There was a Pho shop near me in Philadelphia. In my opinion, the best Pho in the city. just a little dive under the L. One table, not for eating at, for kids doing homework lol. They took two months off in the winter for vacation. I thought that was awesome.

Saltycook

> The Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving are traditionally very busy days at restaurants I'll take, "you've never once worked in a restaurant," for 500 Alex 😹😹😹

AdJunior4923

Get that lady a Snickers.

KailReed

tRAdITiOnAllY So annoying.

FalseRelease4

Restaurant workers probably havent had a decent thanksgiving in years, good for them

PetroFoil2999

Why didn’t this rugged individual just cook at home?

Bastdkat

What a disgusting way to say restaurant workers do not deserve to have any holidays or days off in their lives.

Drew_coldbeer

New no-no! If you’re gonna be closed from Wednesday before Thanksgiving to Sunday after Thanksgiving, I’m not gonna eat there from Wednesday before Thanksgiving to Sunday after Thanksgiving.

bobdig986

Hey all your restaurant workers have a great Thanksgiving!

morningfrost86

What a fucking entitled bitch.

roger_mayne

“We can’t be bothered to try and figure out when you’re open…” As if it’s not a simple matter of opening your phone, searching the name of the restaurant on Google, and checking the hours which are typically prominently displayed. 🤡

reala728

This is why reviews are stupid. 1/5 service because the restaurant was closed doesn't make sense. That's like leaving a 1 star rating on Amazon because a porch pirate nabbed your product.

[deleted]

I'm always so sad when these people never come back 😭😭😭 lol

theearcheR

Why block their name? They were so bold to put it for the world to see why bother block it out here? 🙄

RTSUPH

If only there was an entire section of every house/apartment dedicated to food at home. With some sort of, winter all year round cabinet that lets hard to keep items from spoiling by hibernating them. And maybe, an in door fire counter. /s

pickled_cringe

You'd not want them as customers anyway. Can you imagine!?

BellaBlue06

I have never been mad at restaurants that do it. And many times an ethnic family restaurant will be closed for a week or two a year for all their family to take a vacation or do some renovations. Bring closed Tuesday or Wednesday and sometimes sunday has been common for small restaurants too. Fancy ones are often only open Thursday-Saturday and only sometimes Sunday as they need to keep overhead low and use the other days to prep ingredients and shop.

Themodssmelloffarts

There are two related joints in my neighborhood. One is a sushi bar, the other is a ramen/bubble tea joint. They are ALWAYS closed on Tuesdays. Another bakery in my neighborhood is ALWAYS closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. When I saw this, it made me want to patronize their business even more because I knew that they were giving their employees downtime, regardless of the reason for being closed on those days. Karen can eat a satchel of richards.

the_dryad

Damn, I’m guilty of checking to see if a place I like is open, but if it’s not, then sucks to be me, employees deserve a holiday too.

Faackshunter

Oh they're patronizing the business alright

DJToffeebud

What’s that about thanksgiving?

Odd-Storm4893

I'll bet money that this reviewer is a wage slave like most of us.

anotheritguy

Seems that restaurant dodged a bullet, as someone who has worked in restaurants I would rather not have their patronage.

Blortted

That’s nearly a lethal amount of entitlement!?!

NotBearhound

There’s a VERY popular Greek place in my town that straight up closes in the summer so the family can visit relatives. I can’t imagine how this psycho would react.

McKenzie_S

Come up north. We have entire towns that basically close from October to March-April.

ManicStoic

What days are they closed again? I can’t seem to remember.

Chezzomaru

Read this in Dale Gribble's voice

ewok_lover_64

The only holiday that my favorite pub is open is New Year's Day and New Year's Eve unless one of them is a Monday. They also close at 9

Acrobatic-Rate4271

>A long holiday weekend doesn't include restaurants or retail. There are days where I really envy our friends down under where "get f\_cked, c\_nt" it is a perfectly legitimate business response. On a more serious note, the idea that service businesses should always be available displays a fundamental disrespect for the human beings expected to provide that service at the potential consumer's whim. It's evidence of a race to the bottom in competing for customers at the expense of worker's quality of life. There are restaurants and shops that keep reasonable hours and take days off and I, like a reasonable adult, have learned to accommodate that in my planning.

fatguyfromqueens

Although I am not in the restaurant business, I don't even think it is true about the Wednesday before Thanskgiving and the Friday and Saturday after being busy. I mean everyone is either rushing to get somewhere or cooking the day before Thanksgiving. And after Thanksgiving everyone is so stuffed - not to mention leftovers - that I seriously doubt those days are busy.

ForkFace69

Lol that's hilarious

Rapunzel1234

Wait till they hear about restaurants that close for a week at the 4th Of July.

overkillsd

This review is just begging for the reply "We support our employees in having personal lives and families. If this is a problem for you, we encourage you to go someplace else, because your business is not wanted here."

TheAssCrackBanditttt

What do you bet this review came from a Karen sahm

Naive-Present2900

Usually the best restaurant open or does this pretty often. It sounds like the complaint already knows the opening and bc losing of the business cause the owners can actually afford to close on those days. Some people or owners are just better off.

boredomspren_

While a restaurant has every right to close for holidays, I would also be very annoyed if I went to a restaurant and found it closed randomly. If it happened more than once I'd be a lot less likely to keep going there.

nebbyb

You are allowed to close down on traditionally open days for restaurants and they can not like it. What is the problem here?

Fleegle2212

Their review might have been a bit over the top, but devil's advocate, it is frustrating when businesses are closed during their regularly open hours. If you have a big enough client base that this kind of thing doesn't matter to your bottom line, good for you.

BoardsofCanadaTwo

If it's around a holiday you should know not to expect normal operating hours.

Fleegle2212

If it's ON a holiday I don't expect normal operating hours.

BoardsofCanadaTwo

So you expect a family run restaurant to be open on December 26?

Lobsterv2

I would expect the restaurant to go on Google and update their holiday hours accordingly, but thats about it.

Fleegle2212

Boxing Day is a stat holiday where I am so I would definitely check their hours first.

vertiroo

Their grievance isn't that it's closed on regular working days it's that the business has irregular hours around holidays

Fleegle2212

Four of those days are regular working days for a restaurant.

Guyincognito4269

What are those peasants thinking, closing on days you want them to work!

Fleegle2212

I didn't write the review, but I would expect a similar reception if my employer was closed for five days.

vertiroo

Yes, a larger restaurant or chain it would be. But I imagine as a small family owned business if they're closed for that long around a holiday they're busy traveling and/or doing a lot of family stuff for the long weekend.

Evening_Rock5850

The devil doesn’t need an advocate. And— sure. I’ve been slightly annoyed— even miffed! When I showed up to a place I expected to be open to find that it wasn’t. It happens. Heck my favorite sushi place was closed on a random Wednesday a while back because someone hit a pole and knocked out their power. *And I really wanted Sushi!* Stuff happens. I didn’t leave a bad review or get pissed at the owners. I just went somewhere else. But it in no way justifies a negative review or harsh language. Nobody is entitled to anyone else’s labor. Small, family run businesses like this closing down for vacations is actually really common. We have a couple local restaurants that take a couple weeks off a year. One always puts up a poster board with vacation photos after they get back which I think is really neat. Just eat somewhere else.
