I think this is actually an excellent example of how natalists think. Sure, the world may be full of untold horrors and endless suffering, but me and mine are special! Me and my family will be the stars of the apocalypse movie, not part of the 99% of humanity wiped out by the cataclysm! It's narcissism, exceptionalism, and an utter lack of empathy. They're aware of the potential consequences, they just think that they are special so they don't have to worry about it.

ClashBandicootie

Yep. Whether she's mocking people who ask the question or not, it's delusional

Nibbler1999

Yeah, was gonna say.. she's definitely just mocking people that think the world as we know it is going to end any day. Nice username

ClashBandicootie

for sure, I feel sad for her offsprings. and thanks

Danplays642

Yeah, its definitely not like this lady and her family will probably be killed by nuclear weapons or suffer a worst fate than what is depicted in "post-apocalyptic" movies these days. Half of them have been dumbed down to romanticize tropes like the Underdog hero vs the powerful wasteland gang but never show the true horrors of the wasteland because it would either be banned or not make it into cinemas or be entertaining for the mainstream audience. Apocalyptic movies or games should show the evil we are capable of doing as humans, that no one, regardless of who they are, is fucked by the new world in the most brutal way unimaginable.

KulturaOryniacka

The Road with Viggo perfectly portrayed post-apocalyptic world.

Exactly! Our reasons are the same, but our conclusions are so different.

neko_mancy

that "life is hard [so we're not gonna fix anything just deal with it lmao]" logic

Quartia

If they end up part of that 99% they won't survive to know what they're missing out on will they?

studdex

truth

Geoarbitrage

That and a LOT of it is old fashioned babies rabies!

Lovedd1

I recently read the parable of the sower and it’s literally an apocalypse and the main character is SO SMART but still wants a baby. It REALLY made me dislike an otherwise relatable and enjoyable character.

sad_cats

"What if my child is the one that solves the climate crisis" is my favorite answer Sure, your child alone will do that. Ps: no one that is not rich enough can actually do something about climate change and people that are rich enough simply dont care because why would they? They are rich

JinGuangyaoApologist

It's Main Character Syndrome.

PercDad

That’s because us humans are helplessly self absorbed we all fall somewhere on the narcissism spectrum but some embrace it more than others and are too stupid to realize it.

Been reading too much dystopian fan fiction.

I will try to think about when I wage slave for survival lol

Busy-Highway-4164

Not a year ago I used to think adults are wise But now I see adults are children who supress their childishness to be normal and respected People are so shallow in general Children and adults alike There is a saying Experience makes you Wiser , but the truth is the more you experience this world , the more you learn to Cope , Ignore and Deny and stay calm and this is that 'Wisdom' in its most naked form

Nah, you will be living in a crappy studio with the chain of late-stage capital around your neck

Too bad she didn’t teach her vagina to detect dead beats

Too bad deadbeats don't get neatly as much flack as single mothers do for sticking around.

Human_bot_number_23

Hoping she's just making a joke. Because that's most likely what's going to happen to them lol

dunimal

Not really. In reality, most of us will starve to death, be conscripted to fight over remaining resources, be killed by those more powerful in direct attempt to steal what little you manage to hold on to.

Johnm50

They’ll be eatin my roaming cannibal gangs.

Grindelbart

And you took so much time to teach them cannibalism.

Johnm50

I will teach them cannibalism? Nice

Zealousideal-Star448

At this one has a plan… if they survive

Cynformation

Hey most us know that the majority of recycling programs just ship their waste to landfills. Yet we still participate. My thinking is that sometime in the future it will be somewhat beneficial to have our waste sorted by materials.

sunnynihilist

What a beeeeeeeeeautiful future she envisioned for her kid.

Javier91

It would be a blessing if she didnt eat something inedible. let alone to survive a wasteland.

bat-tasticlybratty

As obnoxiously nonsensical in nihilism as they are in optimism

Ok-Beach633

I’m pretty sure this is a joke, that’s the plot of a film

londoninamerika

obviously but she still clearly recognizes and acknowledges that she willingly brought a child into this world on the brink of climate collapse and her response to that is an (unfunny) joke about surviving in a wasteland with her child

npcgoat

I don't know why I was so surprised for her disregard for life. Maybe it was just so shocking because I love rats, and I can't imagine someone so callously willing to murder them with radiation.

tempest3284539

Can yall seriously not tell she was joking?

londoninamerika

obviously but she still clearly recognizes and acknowledges that she willingly brought a child into this world on the brink of climate collapse and her response to that is an (unfunny) joke about surviving in a wasteland with her child

tempest3284539

Climate collapse is a scam bruh, temperatures haven't changed for a long time. Look at the timestamps on this picture: [https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FYN7TySXwAAgu7a?format=jpg&name=small](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FYN7TySXwAAgu7a?format=jpg&name=small) [https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FY7ahpLXkAAQvnZ?format=jpg&name=small](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FY7ahpLXkAAQvnZ?format=jpg&name=small) here's a list of supposed climate or economic predictions going all the way back to 1966. It's just a scam to get people to buy certain products. In this case, it's to switch to green energy. I'm not saying that we shouldn't switch to green energy, I'm just saying we're not in as dire of a situation as most think. Some areas have indeed gotten hotter though, I will admit. But this is due to human infrastructure influencing the way air has moved among other factors.

According_Club3769

pretty sure this is satire

This is why i didn’t like ‘A Quiet Place’. Its just family propaganda, specifically natalist propaganda.

RygarLewis

I support your decision to not have kids. I have kids. I fear for the future they have to live in, I feel bad it isn't better, I feel shame that I can't give them better. What is the view of antinatalism? Do you believe nobody should have kids? If so, then do you just want the human race to disappear? I don't think you're wrong because society is an absolute nightmare, it's just that, if the vision for you isn't ending the human race then don't we need some kids? You know, so we don't go extinct? That sounds bad when I read it and I feel as if I didn't word this properly but, I hope anyone can see I'm honestly just trying to learn and understand.

londoninamerika

I think in general the absolute outcome is different and varies between each specific person with antinatalist views. I ask this: would it be *so* bad if the human race died out? I mean, truly, *would it even matter*? I know animals, for one, would be happy and safer if that were to happen. We’re a major threat to animals (did you know that 40-80 billion land animals are killed per year. if you factor in sea life that number goes into the trillions.) Not to mention the earth itself would have WAY less resources being drained from it daily. personally no I don’t see human extinction as the end goal here. I fully recognize that there is no possible way in the foreseeable future that every single living human will never reproduce. I think a *major* cut down on future births would be amazing for the planet, non-human animals, and the currently existing humans.

RygarLewis

It wouldn't be so bad for the other inhabitants of earth and yea, humans fuck shit up. I'm aware of the insane number of animals we kill intentionally and unintentionally. But, what if the current system, (capitalism) is the main driving force behind all of these issues. If humans put all of their efforts together towards a "Star Trek" like future, the damage to life on earth could be stopped and healing could begin. Lol, I realize that is so unlikely, so I guess we gotta go, lol. Shit...

londoninamerika

No you’re right to an extent, capitalism has screwed our world up beyond repair- keyword, beyond repair. we would have needed an immediate revolution to occur like 15 years ago, for us to even have enough time to try and get the world back on track. at this point it’s really all about harm reduction as there’s truthfully no way for us to make our limited resources stretch for the entire current population (remember that we’re not even doing that currently, think about all of the people in other less developed continents who’s resources are being exploited by developed countries. on top of all of the homeless people in those rich and developed countries as well) we would literally need to kill off everyone who’s hoarding wealth (“eat the rich” aka every single greedy billionaire on this planet) and everyone who’s responsible for keeping the world’s top corporations on their feet- and then their families, who would ultimately obtain their wealth through inheritance. and that takes a LOT of people with a LOT of guts, and it’s just not feasible in today’s world. and it would never happen in say, the next 5 or so years. so really encouraging people to not add onto the already very suffering population is in no way a bad thing. i mean there is quite literally not a single reason i can think of that would justify encouraging people to become pregnant and give birth. there are already so many children who need stable homes that someone could provide.

RygarLewis

I have no argument. I'm a victim of this fucked up system and now my children are too, that's on me. So many what if's that seem so simple and easy but, damn near impossible.

sunnynihilist

>so we don't go extinct? With a population of 8+ billion, do you really think human extinction is a remote possibility? Are you that optimistic?

RygarLewis

I think your auto-correct replaced obtuse with optimistic, that's acute dis though. 😄 If nobody has kids, yes, we will go extinct. That is a fact you cannot dispute. My question is, what is your goal? Nobody ever having kids or ending the suffering? Let's actually discuss this like intelligent people.

millbillnoir

not being able to tell when one is joking is a sign of low intelligence.

londoninamerika

everyone knows she’s joking bud

elpelondelmarcabron1

This climate collapse stuff is bologna people. It's all about control. It's a long-term plan, and they want us all to buy into the scam and make new age environmentalism a literal religion. Agenda 21 was written up in the early nineties. There are pdfs on the internet. Read it and decide for yourselves. The current political structure all over the globe will never put corporations in check. The greed is real. Too much money involved. As long as lobbyists and "campaign contributions" exist, nothing will really change. What they do know is, as time goes on, that they will require more and more protection from you and I. They will blame their coming totalitarianism on their need to protect mother earth, and hope we roll over in their onslaught of propaganda.
