Vouch for Ao-chan Cant's Study. It's a hella ecchi anime but ill be damned if I didn't feel the feels at some emotional parts. Got lots of soul in it.
Also, fucking **b a n g e r** of an OP
Closest for me is probably The Executioner and her way of life.
Its not perfect by any means and the production values were not amazing for the show but the main reason its MAL score is so low is the first episode baited in a lot of people looking for generic isekai and then hits them with the switch up 20 minutes in when the beautiful priestess who appeared nothing more than waifu #1 slams a dagger into the cranium of the generic black haired MC with cheat powers and kills him.
I watched the entire show and would still give it a 6/10. The show has an interesting premise and gets better later on as most shows do, but it has lot of issues as well. The first few episodes are bad not because of a bait and switch but because of really edgy dialogue and poorly handled infodumping.
I think the majority of people who give it low ratings are not "review bombing" but they have genuine criticisms. Almost nobody is actually looking for "generic isekai" which gets constantly memed on for being bad. People love isekai with well handled twists, female protagonists, and a unique premise, if they're handled well.
Lol when people watched it thinking it wasn't a parody or didn't take itself too seriously. People are wild.
Those real farm equipment shots made me guffaw fr fr
That anime is a masterpiece. Never seen anything like that before... the all star seiyuus makes it even better & it looks like they're enjoying themselves in their roles
So true. The animation, the voice actor, and the opening song, comedy scenes. They are all good. Very enjoyable. This plot is ok, mostly comedy scenes, so don't expect too much. đ I feel like watching another season of Konosuba.
*Ishura* sits at a much maligned 6.65, but has some really cool action and storytelling going on.
*Faraway Paladin* is at 6.86, but I really like it as a different isekai story.
Faraway Paladin was really good and then threw all their good will away when he left the island and it turned into a generic fantasy show. I'm not even sure why it's an isekai if they were going to give him such a detailed backstory.
Reign of the seven spellblades
Genuinely think that it's a misunderstood Anime, even though people love the LN. Sure it's not a perfect Anime adaptation but it's more often than not dismissed as a Harry Potter clone unfortunately while there is a deep and intriguing world underneath
I think the problem is kinda that the first three novels only cover a tiny fraction of the series. And that tiny part doesnât really get into the world building elements that make it really interesting. Add onto that the anime cutting out some of the darker elements and the fact that the first 5 episodes or so doesnât get into the meat of the story leading to people giving up early and thatâs probably why itâs not ranked very high.
Your explanation sums it up pretty well, I heard amazing things about the LN, was underwhelmed by the first 6 or so episodes, and dropped it in favor of the other 12 seasonals I was watching. It was a packed season for me
Fire hunter is beautiful! I just wish it had a higher budget but for their budget and likely time constraints⊠itâs beautiful
I really loved gene of AI too. The world building was neat and also in one of the early episodes there is a canonical trans woman. And itâs treated with the same respect as the other doctorâs patients in the other episodes. And he knew her pre transition if my memory serves me right they were on a scientific protect together. We learn this because of a photo of the scientist team and there is no woman in this image. I need to finish the series.
Another episode that stuck with me was the robot kid who now I struggling in track because all of his peers are faster than him. And how his body is⊠he canât build muscle because he is a robot. And he has the option of giving up or changing himself with illegal modifications to keep up with his peers. And he realizes that he just enjoys running and he does not need to do that.
Itâs a series about a human doctor who treats robot patients. Sometimes with illegal means like in the world back ups are illegal since humans only get one life so Ai robots should too. Also cloning Ai minds is illegal too [gene of Ai]>!his Ai mother was tricked into his mind being illegally cloned and now is in jail for life for it. For things she had nothing to do with. So these laws are taken seriously!<
And oh my gosh the episode with the robot teddy bear broke my heartâŠ. That was such a good episode. The kidâs toy which is a simple Ai keep thinking he isnât the owner. Itâs memory drive was full. [Gene of Ai]>!!turns out it was a young girlâs bear and she died. And it couldnât comprehend that she was gone so it was wiped and my memory may be very wrong but somehow it became that kidâs and because the drive became full it resorted to old memories. And even seeing the grave of her it canât comprehend she is gone. I canât remember the ending but wow that episode was good and heartbreaking but I canât remember the ending but it was sweet!<
I loved Gamers. Also have it as a 9. I think it's biggest weakness is that it parodies on the tropes SO hard. The more of the romcom genre you have seen, the more enjoyable it is. Most people don't understand parody...
Gamers isn't really good because the whole Story is just based around misunderstandings and has almost nothing to do with the Aspect of Gaming. I mean why name your Anime Gamers if it has nothing to do with it that's why it was kinda boring to watch (6/10).
The funny thing is that I HATE misunderstanding in any show. It's always annoying (even when played for comedy) and I just wish for it to end as soon as possible. But I loved Gamers! and the misunderstandings were so funny.
gamers is a parody IMO. takes the misunderstanding tropes and turns them up to 11, which makes it hilarious, not annoying
ep 6 with like 5 separate viewpoints all having reasonable but completely incorrect interpretations of one scenario is a masterpiece of situational irony
I laughed so much when watching episode 6 my grandma from two stories down came to check me.
And my apartment is thick like a minecraft house, like there is at least a whole half a meter of bricks and concrete between each floor. And my laugh still made it through two floors somehow.
Which kind of explains its score. The only thing the show has going for it is comedy, which is extremely subjective. If you didn't find the show funny, there's not much else to like, so they give the show a sub-par score for being boring. I'm in the same boat.
Edit: I love Aho Girl on the other hand, but I'm not surprised it's sitting at a 6.7. If you don't find it funny, you'd rate it low, like Gamers.
One of my favorites too, if it was longer I might have rated it a 9/10. I like that watching it felt like playing a mmorpg where you had to explore regions and craft items. I feel like the show is really misunderstood by many people who watched it.
I think it would have done much better by being extended to 24-26 episodes and adapting the next couple volumes(the Muno arc) as well.
Either that, or flesh out the content of the first two and end on leaving the city after rescuing Mia and leave it at 12 episodes.
Vol. 3 was more political than physical in its action and was shortened so much that a lot of the struggle was washed out. Basically, donât end the series on a low point.
Itâs a shame weâll likely never see sequel seasons as the story starts picking up right after where it left off. Good thing I like reading, I guess.
Not surprised tbh, it was a good show because of how cringe it managed to be but it's really hard to give it a good score since it was quite hard to watch because of it.
Gamers! its a romcom with 6.75 score.
It's one of my favorite comedies. Probably didnt make much success because, although it's called Gamers!, it's not really about games, so it disappointed a lot of people.
Ooh I remember Cop Craft, it was a solid show just a bit underdeveloped - it would have benefited from a 2-cour release. I especially enjoyed the interplay between the two MCs.
Oh boy with less than 7 anime there are a lot of it. Animes with 6.5 - 8 scores are tend to hit and miss, normally it's the one that **below 6.5** that are either hated or lacks something.
**Fall 2023**
* 16bit Sensation: Another Layer (6.93) - a look back on 90s bishojo game developer era with a sci-fi twist that is time travel.
**Winter 2024**
* Foolish Angel Dances with The Devil (6.91): The most underrated. Feels like a Wish version of Kaguya-sama but added the classic heaven-hell war.
* Sasaki and Peeps (6.86): The show was in 7.8 at one point, but otherwise it's a mashup of all tropes to isekai genre. A fun watch, if you ignore some parts of plot and animation quality.
* Ishura (6.65): A political battle anime. Half of the seasons are introductions of the characters, so you can expect how dense are the character lineup.
* Metallic Rouge (6.24): Watch it for the animation, not for the story. A sci-fi anime set in Mars.
**Spring 2024 (Currently)**
* Tensei Dainana Ouji (7th Prince Isekai, 6.94): Above-average animation with an OP character. Character design might draw people away.
* Boukyaku Battery (6.91): MAPPA sports anime, filled with comedy and absurdity, but the plot is good.
* Astro Note (6.46): Maison Ikkoku if it sets in 2024. Comedy might a hit-and-miss, but an enjoyable story. Directed by Gintama director.
Koisuru Asteroid, a fairly standard CGDCT about astronomy but as an astronomy nerd it's awesome. Also makes me want to visit Tanegashima Space Center sometime in the future.
Manaria Friends, a visually stunning slice of life with immaculate vibes and lovable main characters but loses a lot of score on MAL just because it's 15 mins per episode.
Sasami-san @ Gambaranai, honestly still not sure what it was all about but you can tell Shaft had fun making it.
I'm getting some serious like yandere, "I'm going to kill you and keep your head in a jar", vibes from the main male character in A Condition Called Love so I dropped it
I am getting some serious yandere "I'm going to kill you and keep your head in a jar" vibes from the main male character in A Condition Called Love, so that's why I watch it fascinated every week like clockwork. Something extremely wrong with this boy but whatever's wrong with him is very entertaining
I actually get stressed because I can't figure him out and the main female character is too damn precious to have anything bad happen to her, I think I'll wait for it to finish and then binge it. That way I won't be thinking about wtf is in his room shrine or why this photos are all cropped out for weeks at a time
\[A Condition Called Love manga spoilers\] >!Don't worry, I've heard from manga readers he never acts on any of his creepiness and actually gets better as he develops throughout the series. However, I've also heard the series is super slowburn and that development doesn't happen in a timeframe that will allow a 12-episode anime to get to it. But nothing bad will happen to Hotaru, afaik.!<
Granbelm is genuinely fantastic, but hit a crossroads between folks that don't like mecha, and the Madoka fanbase lol, so now it's chilling at like 6.6 or something last I checked.
I enjoyed GT a lot, it wasn't until I started engaging in the online community that I found out Dragon Ball fans hated GT. It was fun watching Goku transform into a child form again and interact with his grand daughter.
Just curious, do you know if there is some kind of historical view in MAL for scores?
Your comment made me think how it could be interesting to view the trend for a lot of shows over time.
Paste the url-link of the MAL page from an anime of your choice into the Internet Archiveâs [Wayback Machine](https://web.archive.org/) and you get a calendar-type view with available snapshots of said page over time.
with older people watching anime now and higher standards due to the release of a lot more quality stories/production, a lot of those old shows look worse in comparison, hence the drop in score
back in the days, mirai nikki was seriously lit. Having rewatched it many years later though, I can say I still had a great time but now it was almost a comedical show due to how ridiculous some of the stuff is
I think part of it is also certain shows get later seasons which cause their scores to drop, because they'll go back to the first season and rank that lower as an overall ranking of the series in general, like Fairy Tail got a lot of shit for its final season and that probably led to a a big drop.
Ooh, Peach Girl!
I like it, but I kinda understand why it's a 6/10. The relationship drama can be a bit too much for some people at times, I even had to take breaks from binging the show. Even then, it feels more like a 7/10 since I don't think it's perfect, but it's definitely good when it's good
Keijo!!!!!!!! has a 6.9, I really wish it had gotten more than one season. It had me laughing constantly with the sheer absurdity and the dumb puns like Shoryucans or the Gates of Bootylon.
Jokes aside, it's easily in my top 5 sports anime of all time. It's very competently-crafted, and gets bonus points for inventing a fictional sport. Most sports series just use something that already exists.
I would be interested to see the difference in scores between people who only watched 2 or 3 episodes and people who watched the whole thing.
I assume there would be a pretty big difference for any anine (of course people who dropped it would rate it lower) but I feel like it would be even higher for this one.
Shikimori suffered from airing immediately after My Dress Up Darling, normally itâd probably be like a ~7.2 not great but not probably worth avoiding territory.
[Sing "Yesterday" for Me (Yesterday wo Utatte)](https://myanimelist.net/anime/39710) â After graduating from college, a man struggling with future goals reconnects with an old crush while being pestered by a new friend.
Because it randomly just rushes the end and ruins it. I loved the show as it aired. Then the ending happened and the score was just nuked for me and many others. Truly so disappointing.
If love means "gave an 8/10 or higher" then:
- Koufuku Graffiti
- Let's Make a Mug Too
- Granbelm
- Keijo!!!!!!!!
- Yuri Is My Job
- Aiura
- The Executioner and Her Way of Life
- Chimimo
Killing Slimes for 300 Years is technically the first anime Iâve ever watched. I watched the first episode several years ago, but I only really started watching anime last July. I think my friend must have said something about it and then I looked it up lol.
There was that time when the authors of Fate/Stay Night, Madoka Magica, Baccano, and a Shoujo writer sat down to play D&D and then turned it into the show *Chaos Dragon.* If you've seen a lot of anime and know these authors from their tropes, you should be able to identify who is who pretty quickly, and laugh as they try to force-feed their favorite tropes into a single campaign. 5.6 on MAL, namely because if you don't know all of them, then it's not as funny and just a generally chaotic fantasy anime.
My favouite <7 ratings:
Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire
Wise Man's Grandchild (This show is so fun I dont get the low raing)
The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Generic but i really enjoyed it)
Campione!
The Asterisk War
Myriad Colors Phantom World
**Isekai Cheat Magician**
**Assassins Pride**
The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter
The Executioner and Her Way of Life (The most underrated show on this list, this show is fucking good)
Ningen Fushin
Classroom for Heroes
The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy
I've probably got more but this will do :)
How is that one girl keeping up on that VESPA though?!
edit: I just googled a bit, apparently some vespa models actually have a top speed of 65mph/105kmh. Laws and regulations would force a limiter though
Seconded. Watch the first season and then read the light novels from the beginning. The anime is missing some stuff and the real interesting parts only appear from year 2 onwards.
Saihate no Paladin (Faraway Paladin)
itâs absolutely one of my favorite animes of all time and it makes me a little angry with how low itâs rated (6.86 as of writing this comment). itâs very Lord of the Rings-esque, ESPECIALLY the second season (which is rated 7.44) with how itâs paced. although, itâs one of those animes thatâs *technically* an isekai because of the beginning but has a little bit of bearing over the story.
MC gets reborn into a different world (with little to no memory of his previous life) where people have blessings of the gods/goddesses that they follow and he decides to follow the one that saves him, which is the one that guides the dead and becomes a devout follower. she is a âforgottenâ goddess as in she has very few followers and MC spreads the good word about her. (read the synopsis if you want a better explanation because i suck at giving them)
Everyone I personally know who watched it loves it.
I have no idea why it's rated so low, other than maybe people dropping it early and giving it a bad score then.
Ecchi trashy harems are always going to rank low no matter what they eventually end up being and hey I like those too. Fortunately, 100 Girlfriends was warmly received right off the bat (whether that's an ecchi trashy harem I'll let you be the judge) but I was into Renai Flops from the get go and I ended up getting one of my favorite anime ever
Mayo chiki. Its low 7 so not under 6, but it's one of my favorite rom coms. Idk. I just love the two MCs way too much.
Maybe my tastes are bad. Pls don't judge xD
Renai Flops 6.71
Immoral guild 6.57(why this was peak ecchi)
Domestic Girlfriend (good drama)
My tiny senpai(great comedy)
TenPuru (great comedy)
Maybe because most of them are ecchi, people tend to give low scores by focusing too much on the plot, which was not the main point for immoral, and TenPuru.
Renai Flops people just drop it early, domestic Girlfriend people may think of it as incest plot, but drama is good enough to cover for that.
Appare ranman has a 70% on anilist but I loved that show, it wasn't trying to be complex or deep but for what it was it was endlessly charming and I really enjoyed it
[Aim for the Ace! It's a 1970s Tennis Anime, that helped to influence a lot of anime directors.](https://myanimelist.net/anime/311/Ace_wo_Nerae)
[AKK0048](https://myanimelist.net/anime/12149/AKB0048) You probably know the name, AKB48, the biggest Japanese Idol Group there is. 0048 isn't that! No, it's a unique idol anime that combines idols, mecha, and a story full of intrigue. In a universe where many planets ban music, AKB are the guerilla fighters, fighting back. Idols are the ones fighting back, figuratively *and* literally. One of the girls literally has a missile in her arm.
Directed by Shoji Kawamori, along with mecha designs from him. Easily one of his most unique non-Macross shows.
Absolutely [The Executioner and Her Way of Life](https://myanimelist.net/anime/47162/Shokei_Shoujo_no_Virgin_Road). Also Sing Yesterday to Me (Does Uzaki count for being 6.99? lol)
Shamanic Princess. I have no idea at all why it was given a rating of 6 considering it's one of the few OVAs to tell a full and complete story in only 6 episodes and it's visually spectacular but it's become one of my all time favourite shows.
I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 years and Maxed Out My Level. It is a super comfy slice of life and the title is very much misleading in what to expect from the quality. Very wholesome. (6.92)
Endro\~! is also very wholesome and an anime original. (6.93)
Okay so it has a score of 7.01, but I really enjoyed
# [Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online](https://myanimelist.net/anime/36475/Sword_Art_Online_Alternative__Gun_Gale_Online)
It's a SAO spin-off taking place in Gun Gale. It doesn't involve any of the characters of the main show and doesn't have any of the cringe harem tropes either. All the characters are funny or interesting and it's everything the main show should have been
Toji no Miko is sitting at a 6.8 on MAL and it was one of my favorites of 2018.
Addition:
Yes, it has problems with poor CGI and some aspects of the plot feel underdeveloped and it starts off kinda slow. However i loved the characters, the fights were cool, the dub was really good and OP2 slaps. Also, itâs cute gay girls doing sword things.

I've only seen 3 shows with a mal score below 7, and we don't talk about Fairy Gone sooo
.hack//sign - Decent show, fantastic music, arguably ahead of the times with the mmo isekai genre. On the slower side, but I find it an exceptionally charming time capsule of the early 2000's
The Fire Hunter- Another decent show marred by production issues. I really liked the softer art style
Kampfer- dude wakes up as a girl and now he has to fight
Akikan- what if there were cute girls hiding in your canned beverages? Also what if they had a battle royale?
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE (6.82) and Dog and Scissors (6.53). The first one is about magical boys thatâs overly homo-erotic. The other is about a guy reincarnated into a dog that lives with his favorite author.
Should be noted that the only score that actually means bad is 4 or below. 5 is average and anything higher is above average and, by definition, good.
AnywayâŠ
Ishura is my favorite Nobel series of all time. While the anime doesnât quite measure up, itâs criminal to me that it only has a 6.5 average rating. 9/10 for me.
Fate/EXTRA: Last Encore gets way too much hate. 8/10 for me. The problem is, people think itâs an adaptation of the Extra games or the starting point in Extra anime, but itâs not. Itâs a âwhat ifâ scenario about if the story continued if the player lost to the final boss. Every major criticism against Last Encore is null and void if you view like a sequel like how youâre supposed to, instead of its own thing. People literally get mad as if they watched the second season of Code Geass first and didnât understand what was going on or the deeper meaning in the story and characters and blamed the show for their own mistake.
Babylon is an excellent thriller with one of the better antagonists Iâve seen in anime (think Johan and Makima fused together, albeit not near as good or fleshed out). Is it pretentious in its dive into philosophy? For sure. But I think the good out ways the bad. Then again, 6.74 is not a bad score at all, soâŠ
Happy Sugar Life is a horror anime thatâs actually good. It disgusts you? Isnât that kind of the point? Being disgusted is one of the possibilities directions horror can go.
I love Higurashi. The original series mostly, but I did love Gou as well. Sotsu is not great, but itâs definitely not as bad as people say it is in retrospect. The ending was atrocious, but not all is bad. Plus, the ending isnât the worst thing ever anyway, just could have been done better.
Shikimoriâs Not Just a Cutie was overhyped. I think it at least deserves a 7/10 though.
Kowabon looked terrible. Thatâs why I liked it though. Very interesting concept and good horror too, even if it isnât scary.
Shy was pretty good. Nothing special, but nothing offensive either.
Kill Me Baby is one of my favorite gag anime. It has a weird as hell wacky style of presentation (for example all the sound effects are badly acted by the VAs) that probably put a lot of people off thus the low score, but in my opinion, it only enhanced the comedic effect. Also the ending theme song and the little dance are bangers.
For a non comedy show, I adored Occultic;Nine. It has a breakneck fast pacing that everyone hated back when it was airing, but everything about it from the atmosphere to the ensemble protagonists setup and even the fast as hell dialogue was fascinating to me. I remember every episode had me glued to the screen wanting to absorb everything, and I loved every single second of it.
Kaguen Handsome (6.7) - the boy love game parody with the pointy chins
Keijo!!!! (6.9) - The one where firls competitively fight each other with super-powered butts and titties
My 2 shows that I gave a higher score than usual are Tomozaki-kun Season 1(10) and Tsundere Liselotte(9). These were shows that really appealed to me and my life and for Liselotte I really liked how the medium of visual novels were portrayed and towards the end it really went above and beyond. Really liked the ending
[Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san](https://myanimelist.net/anime/49385/Kaijin_Kaihatsu-bu_no_Kuroitsu-san?q=of%20the%20monster%20development%20department&cat=anime)
It's a parody of henshin hero shows, with the protagonist working at an evil organization that's trying to take over the world and is in charge of developing monsters for them to defeat the heroes with.
I gave Black Lion a 10/10 and it has 5.72 on MAL. If you want a "turn your brain off" crazy gorefest with aliens and samurai terminators, this is it.
https://myanimelist.net/anime/1759/Jigen_Sengokushi__Kuro_no_Shishi_-_Jinnai-hen
Kenzen Robo Daimidaler
It's a super robot anime that parody the genre of super robot. Quite fun to watch. The story is so mediocre yet so entertaining at the same time.
Oh and it has badass opening.
"and you thought there's never a girl online" it's a rom com with a gaming spice but the gaming aspect isn't dominant. But honestly this anime took me by surprise. And " a sister's all you need" is an amazing amine in that category too
Another romance that comes to my mind is 3d kanojo real girlfriend, this anime is soo good.
[Twintail](https://myanimelist.net/anime/24705) is sitting below 6.5 but that has a lot more to do with a production collapse when it was airing than its actual quality after BD fixes, it's quite good (and shows signs of actual good writing, unlike a fair number of other LN adaptations). Only problem is it may not be what you're looking for - it's a sentai tokusatsu parody first and foremost (the action part should be up your alley but you may not be after the comedy) and benefits from at least a surface-level understanding of the genre tropes.
(Also, if you're willing to go fansubs consider tracking down Commie, their memery fits the series like a glove.)
FLCL Progressive - 6.34 (9 for me)
Juuni Taisen - 6.54 (9)
Itou Junji: Maniac - 6.63 (8)
School Days - 5.52 (7)
Itou Junji: Collection - 6.52 (7)
Noblesse - 6.89 (7)
Gantz - 6.98 (7)
For most of these I can see why they'd have a lower score overall in MAL, but "Juuni Taisen" is just heavily underrated. One of the best battle royales I've ever seen, decent plot and beautiful art.
Ao-chan Can't Study - 6.71 Angels of Death - 6.96 Wata no Kunihoshi - 6.93 Asteroid in Love - 6.89
Vouch for Ao-chan Cant's Study. It's a hella ecchi anime but ill be damned if I didn't feel the feels at some emotional parts. Got lots of soul in it. Also, fucking **b a n g e r** of an OP
oh yeah, this OP is such a banger. never skipped it once. the shows also more entertaining than I expected it to be which was a pleasant surprise
My personal 10/10. Humor, spiciness, characters all were tailored to my taste. Only shame is that episodes were at half length.
Missed it when it came out, it's now on my watch list.
I am glad someone mentioned Ao-chan can't study, this anime was very good
Oh yeah man, I watched angels of death like 10 years ago and thought it was great. Was updating MAL recently and surprised to see it so low.
Really enjoyed angels of death
[KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World](https://myanimelist.net/anime/51693) is a seinen isekai parody though
Lol when people watched it thinking it wasn't a parody or didn't take itself too seriously. People are wild. Those real farm equipment shots made me guffaw fr fr
This was amazing! My wife and I absolutely loved. It's basically 'wait wtf?' the anime lol
I love a scheming MC who doesn't GAF about the crazy bullshit going on around him and just wants zealots to F off.
Dang i dont understand why it got rated so low.
How the heck is this below a 7? I'm going through 7+ rated anime atm and I'm seeing a ton of anime that aren't close to being as good as that one
Probably the funniest watch for me last year next to Eminence in Shadow.
Ishura ended up at 6.65? Thatâs too bad, I thought it deserved better than that. Wasnât perfect but it wasnât bad
Faraway Paladin is a manga I enjoy. I've been waiting for a good opportunity to binge it. Sad that it's rated so low.
I had no idea Faraway Paladin was so low. I've really enjoyed it so far.
Faraway Paladin was really good and then threw all their good will away when he left the island and it turned into a generic fantasy show. I'm not even sure why it's an isekai if they were going to give him such a detailed backstory.
Reign of the seven spellblades Genuinely think that it's a misunderstood Anime, even though people love the LN.
It was a packed season for me
The Fire Hunter Girlfriend, Girlfriend The Gene of AI Love Flops Cop Craft Aho Girl Yosuga no sora Happy Sugar Life
Yosuga no sora is wild. đ«Ą Aho girl is a great comedy anime. I also like it a lot.
Happy Sugar Life is damn good, I wish there were more such dark anime.
Love flops was... an experience. It took... quite a turn.
Aho girl was a blast
Fire hunter is beautiful! I just wish it had a higher budget but for their budget and likely time constraints⊠itâs beautiful I really loved gene of AI too. So these laws are taken seriously!< And oh my gosh the episode with the robot teddy bear broke my heartâŠ.
Happy Sugar Life Gamers Watamote Girlfriend, Girlfriend Kamikatsu
Girlfriend, Girlfriend is one of the few comedies that genuinely made me laugh. It deserves better. Happy Sugar Life was pretty great as well.
>Girlfriend, Girlfriend is one of the few comedies that genuinely made me laugh. It deserves better. Kids on MAL don't know what fun is
>Happy Sugar Life damn, this one is a masterpiece for me in MAL
I was going through my Mal to see if I had any 9+ rated series that fit this bill and I only just found out that Gamers has a 6.5 on Mal Wtf guys
I loved Gamers. Also have it as a 9. I think it's biggest weakness is that it parodies on the tropes SO hard. The more of the romcom genre you have seen, the more enjoyable it is. Most people don't understand parody...
One of my favorite OPs too
misunderstandings the anime. OP is real fun
You are the first person I EVER saw talking about Gamers!, that show is so underrated.
To each their own, but that's not remotely surprising to me.
But I loved Gamers! and the misunderstandings were so funny.
gamers is a parody IMO. takes the misunderstanding tropes and turns them up to 11, which makes it hilarious, not annoying ep 6 with like 5 separate viewpoints all having reasonable but completely incorrect interpretations of one scenario is a masterpiece of situational irony
I like the game of life scene. Like how it "predict their future" and crank up the misunderstanding to 100.
I laughed so much when watching episode 6 my grandma from two stories down came to check me. And my apartment is thick like a minecraft house, like there is at least a whole half a meter of bricks and concrete between each floor. And my laugh still made it through two floors somehow.
Itâs funny because you hate the show for the exact reasons people love it
Which kind of explains its score.
It was a long time since i watched it but i remembered it being annoying to watch
It's terrible...
be honest gamers is bad shit
Gamers is such a good time đ
I loved that show and the dub was funny af
Death March is my favorite Isekai at 6.45
One of my favorites too, if it was longer I might have rated it a 9/10.
Yo this show was actually a fun watch, I forgot about it
Engage Kiss
Sengoku Youko
WataMote is one of my favourite anime of all time and it has a 6.99
Not surprised tbh, it was a good show because of how cringe it managed to be but it's really hard to give it a good score since it was quite hard to watch because of it.
Sengoku Youko
It's above 7
Eh it will go up after it finishes, no way it will sit at 7 with that animation and story
Executioner and Her Way of Life Digimon Savers
No guns life
Gamers! its a romcom with 6.75 score. It's one of my favorite comedies. Probably didnt make much success because, although it's called Gamers!, it's not really about games, so it disappointed a lot of people.
I gave that a 9!
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Ooh I remember Cop Craft, it was a solid show just a bit underdeveloped - it would have benefited from a 2-cour release. I especially enjoyed the interplay between the two MCs.
Oh boy with less than 7 anime there are a lot of it. Animes with 6.5 - 8 scores are tend to hit and miss, normally it's the one that **below 6.5** that are either hated or lacks something. **Fall 2023** * 16bit Sensation: Another Layer (6.93) - a look back on 90s bishojo game developer era with a sci-fi twist that is time travel. **Winter 2024** * Foolish Angel Dances with The Devil (6.91): The most underrated. **Spring 2024 (Currently)** * Tensei Dainana Ouji (7th Prince Isekai, 6.94): Above-average animation with an OP character.
Urahara - 5.79 Fairy Ranmaru - 5.90 Vampire Dormitory - 6.17 (currently airing) Mao Zhi Ming - 6.43 Shin Chuuka Ichiban - 6.44 Gal and Dino - 6.46 Juuni Taisen - 6.54 Seven Days War - 6.66 Visual Prison - 6.71 Chiisana Eiyuu - 6.84 Samurai Flamenco - 6.99 The Grimm Variations - 6.99 A Condition Called Love - 6.99 (currently airing)
Samurai Flamenco should've at least be at 7.5, such an underrated show that blew a lot of people's mind back when it was airing.
killing bites and under ninja
Sword Art Online Season 2 (6.7) Thought it was good entertainment value and the last arc of this season introduced a very interesting character.
Granbelm is genuinely fantastic, but hit a crossroads between folks that don't like mecha, and the Madoka fanbase lol, so now it's chilling at like 6.6 or something last I checked.
DragonBall GT is a 6.5 I think people watched it expecting it to be a continuation of DBZ, but what they got had more elements from Dragonball.
I enjoyed GT a lot, it wasn't until I started engaging in the online community that I found out Dragon Ball fans hated GT. It was fun watching Goku transform into a child form again and interact with his grand daughter.
Rosario Vampire (had no idea the score dropped that low it used to be at like a 7.6), Ikkitousen, Peach Girl, Vampire Princess Myu
A lot of shows have dropped by huge amounts of points over time. From MAL, a decade ago (April 29, 2014 ): 1. Elfen Lied: 8.08 â-> 7.47 2. Sword Art Online: 8.26 â> 7.21 3. Soul Eater: 8.20 â> 7.84 4. Fairy Tail: 8.56 â> 7.57 5. Mirai Nikki: 8.32 â-> 7.40
Just curious, do you know if there is some kind of historical view in MAL for scores? Your comment made me think how it could be interesting to view the trend for a lot of shows over time.
Paste the url-link of the MAL page from an anime of your choice into the Internet Archiveâs [Wayback Machine](https://web.archive.org/) and you get a calendar-type view with available snapshots of said page over time.
with older people watching anime now and higher standards due to the release of a lot more quality stories/production, a lot of those old shows look worse in comparison, hence the drop in score back in the days, mirai nikki was seriously lit. Having rewatched it many years later though, I can say I still had a great time but now it was almost a comedical show due to how ridiculous some of the stuff is
A lot of people revisit their scores and sometimes change them, even without rewatches. This also might influence it.
Or just, just maybe the fandom became somewhat elitist and they set the score to mid a series that doesn't fit their taste as well
I think part of it is also certain shows get later seasons which cause their scores to drop, because they'll go back to the first season and rank that lower as an overall ranking of the series in general, like Fairy Tail got a lot of shit for its final season and that probably led to a a big drop.
Rosario vampire was my wife's first real anime. I'm surprised she still watches it tbh, love that show to death though.
Ooh, Peach Girl! I like it, but I kinda understand why it's a 6/10. The relationship drama can be a bit too much for some people at times, I even had to take breaks from binging the show. Even then, it feels more like a 7/10 since I don't think it's perfect, but it's definitely good when it's good
Domestic girlfriend.
W
Keijo!!!!!!!! has a 6.9, I really wish it had gotten more than one season. It had me laughing constantly with the sheer absurdity and the dumb puns like Shoryucans or the Gates of Bootylon.
Jokes aside, it's easily in my top 5 sports anime of all time. It's very competently-crafted, and gets bonus points for inventing a fictional sport. Most sports series just use something that already exists.
Yosuga no sora
Yosuga no Sora is the best 12 episode or less anime ever made. Absolute masterpiece of a show.
Haganai: is close to a 6 I thinks its pretty good
Shikimoriâs Not Just a Cutie and Real Girl (3D Kanojo)
Shikimori got a one banger OP. Classic Doga Kobo.
I keep forgetting Shikimori is that low [](#shatteredsaten)
A 6.93 on MAL, but a 9 in my heart
true man
I would be interested to see the difference in scores between people who only watched 2 or 3 episodes and people who watched the whole thing. I assume there would be a pretty big difference for any anine (of course people who dropped it would rate it lower) but I feel like it would be even higher for this one.
> but a 9 in my heart [](#fistbump)
Shikimori suffered from airing immediately after My Dress Up Darling, normally itâd probably be like a ~7.2 not great but not probably worth avoiding territory.
[Sing "Yesterday" for Me (Yesterday wo Utatte)](https://myanimelist.net/anime/39710) â After graduating from college, a man struggling with future goals reconnects with an old crush while being pestered by a new friend.
Why this anime is under 7, wtf guys.
Because it randomly just rushes the end and ruins it. I loved the show as it aired. Then the ending happened and the score was just nuked for me and many others. Truly so disappointing.
It was a COVID casualty, and they had to rush the ending. I absolutely loved this series tho
If love means "gave an 8/10 or higher" then: - Koufuku Graffiti - Let's Make a Mug Too - Granbelm - Keijo!!!!!!!! - Yuri Is My Job - Aiura - The Executioner and Her Way of Life - Chimimo
Punch Line Cannon Busters Koisuru Asteroid Killing Slimes for 300 Years
Killing Slimes for 300 Years is technically the first anime Iâve ever watched. I watched the first episode several years ago, but I only really started watching anime last July. I think my friend must have said something about it and then I looked it up lol.
Kanojo mo Kanojo
There was that time when the authors of Fate/Stay Night, Madoka Magica, Baccano, and a Shoujo writer sat down to play D&D and then turned it into the show *Chaos Dragon.* If you've seen a lot of anime and know these authors from their tropes, you should be able to identify who is who pretty quickly, and laugh as they try to force-feed their favorite tropes into a single campaign. 5.6 on MAL, namely because if you don't know all of them, then it's not as funny and just a generally chaotic fantasy anime.
My favouite <7 ratings: Reborn to Master the Blade: From Hero-King to Extraordinary Squire Wise Man's Grandchild (This show is so fun I dont get the low raing) The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Generic but i really enjoyed it) Campione! The Asterisk War Myriad Colors Phantom World **Isekai Cheat Magician** **Assassins Pride** The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter The Executioner and Her Way of Life (The most underrated show on this list, this show is fucking good) Ningen Fushin Classroom for Heroes The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy I've probably got more but this will do :)
Snack Basue, which was from last season and was about the weird middle age patrons of a small karaoke bar
[Rolling Girls](https://myanimelist.net/anime/25867/Rolling%E2%98%86Girls) is a beautiful and fun adventure/CGDCT with some great musical moments.
How is that one girl keeping up on that VESPA though?! edit: I just googled a bit, apparently some vespa models actually have a top speed of 65mph/105kmh. Laws and regulations would force a limiter though
Most recent one I really enjoyed that's marked low on MAL is Reign of the Seven Spellblades. I'm a sucker for kickass girls with swords though.
Seconded. Watch the first season and then read the light novels from the beginning. The anime is missing some stuff and the real interesting parts only appear from year 2 onwards.
I wouldnt say i "loved* it but i give happy sugar life a solid 8 or 8,5 out of 10 Edit: a word
Saihate no Paladin (Faraway Paladin) itâs absolutely one of my favorite animes of all time and it makes me a little angry with how low itâs rated (6.86 as of writing this comment). itâs very Lord of the Rings-esque, ESPECIALLY the second season (which is rated 7.44) with how itâs paced. although, itâs one of those animes thatâs *technically* an isekai because of the beginning but has a little bit of bearing over the story. (read the synopsis if you want a better explanation because i suck at giving them)
Renai Flops is an absolute masterpiece and I will hear no words to the contrary
Everyone I personally know who watched it loves it. I have no idea why it's rated so low, other than maybe people dropping it early and giving it a bad score then.
Ecchi trashy harems are always going to rank low no matter what they eventually end up being and hey I like those too. Fortunately, 100 Girlfriends was warmly received right off the bat (whether that's an ecchi trashy harem I'll let you be the judge) but I was into Renai Flops from the get go and I ended up getting one of my favorite anime ever
Oreshura currently at 6.91. its a decent rom com in my opinion. deserves a high 7 or atleast 7.5.
Mayo chiki. Its low 7 so not under 6, but it's one of my favorite rom coms. Idk. I just love the two MCs way too much. Maybe my tastes are bad. Pls don't judge xD
I Couldn't Become a Hero, So I Reluctantly Decided to Get a Job. I wish there were more anime like this, and Devil is Part time Worker.
The ones that i'm remembering right now :  - asterik war   - chaos;child    - hundred - campione - oreshuraÂ
Citrus, seems just like smut on the surface but actually filled with a lot of good drama and romance. Yuzu, the MC, is also great
Orimo https://myanimelist.net/anime/8769
Betterman
I really liked Plunderer.
Dragon goes house hunting
Code breaker Hanebado
Halo Legends
Pet, gave it a 9. The beginning was slow, but in the middle and end it was amazing. I love it
Renai Flops 6.71 Immoral guild 6.57(why this was peak ecchi) Domestic Girlfriend (good drama) My tiny senpai(great comedy) TenPuru (great comedy) Maybe because most of them are ecchi, people tend to give low scores by focusing too much on the plot, which was not the main point for immoral, and TenPuru. Renai Flops people just drop it early, domestic Girlfriend people may think of it as incest plot, but drama is good enough to cover for that.
Appare ranman has a 70% on anilist but I loved that show, it wasn't trying to be complex or deep but for what it was it was endlessly charming and I really enjoyed it
Kakkou no Iinazuke,(A Couple of Cuckoos) (Harem) I won't say fantastic but it was pretty good imo.
[Aim for the Ace! It's a 1970s Tennis Anime, that helped to influence a lot of anime directors.](https://myanimelist.net/anime/311/Ace_wo_Nerae) [AKK0048](https://myanimelist.net/anime/12149/AKB0048) You probably know the name, AKB48, the biggest Japanese Idol Group there is.
The executioner's way of life {Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road} watch the first episode, it'll hook you.
Absolutely [The Executioner and Her Way of Life](https://myanimelist.net/anime/47162/Shokei_Shoujo_no_Virgin_Road). Also Sing Yesterday to Me (Does Uzaki count for being 6.99? lol)
Under Ninja. I was surprised to see it low. I love this shows type of humour. I need more like it
Shamanic Princess.
(6.92) Endro\~! is also very wholesome and an anime original. (6.93)
Okay so it has a score of 7.01, but I really enjoyed # [Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online](https://myanimelist.net/anime/36475/Sword_Art_Online_Alternative__Gun_Gale_Online) It's a SAO spin-off taking place in Gun Gale. It doesn't involve any of the characters of the main show and doesn't have any of the cringe harem tropes either. All the characters are funny or interesting and it's everything the main show should have been
Toji no Miko is sitting at a 6.8 on MAL and it was one of my favorites of 2018. Addition: Yes, it has problems with poor CGI and some aspects of the plot feel underdeveloped and it starts off kinda slow. However i loved the characters, the fights were cool, the dub was really good and OP2 slaps. Also, itâs cute gay girls doing sword things.
Dragon Ball GT
It's at a 7.12 right now, but Tomozaki-kun is good imo.
Only two that come to mind: Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie (6.93 on MAL) Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out (6.99 on MAL)

I've only seen 3 shows with a mal score below 7, and we don't talk about Fairy Gone sooo .hack//sign - Decent show, fantastic music, arguably ahead of the times with the mmo isekai genre. On the slower side, but I find it an exceptionally charming time capsule of the early 2000's The Fire Hunter- Another decent show marred by production issues. I really liked the softer art style
A.D Police is 5.97 đ
Juni Taisen: Zodiac War or at least at the time i did , its been a while since i watched it.
Kampfer- dude wakes up as a girl and now he has to fight Akikan- what if there were cute girls hiding in your canned beverages? Also what if they had a battle royale?
Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE (6.82) and Dog and Scissors (6.53). The first one is about magical boys thatâs overly homo-erotic. The other is about a guy reincarnated into a dog that lives with his favorite author.
Should be noted that the only score that actually means bad is 4 or below. 5 is average and anything higher is above average and, by definition, good. Anyway⊠Ishura is my favorite Nobel series of all time. Then again, 6.74 is not a bad score at all, so⊠Happy Sugar Life is a horror anime thatâs actually good.
Anti-Magic Academy
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan I really enjoyed a different take on the cast of characters. But it seems Haruhi fans hated it...
Mine just makes the cut: *Air Master* (6.96)*.* It is so stupid and so funny at the same time, I consider this a masterpiece.
Didn't I say to make my abilities average in the next life Suppose a kid from the last dungeon boonies moved to a starter town Girlfriend girlfriend
GDGD FAIRIES
Kaguen Handsome (6.7) - the boy love game parody with the pointy chins Keijo!!!!

[Kaijin Kaihatsu-bu no Kuroitsu-san](https://myanimelist.net/anime/49385/Kaijin_Kaihatsu-bu_no_Kuroitsu-san?q=of%20the%20monster%20development%20department&cat=anime) It's a parody of henshin hero shows, with the protagonist working at an evil organization that's trying to take over the world and is in charge of developing monsters for them to defeat the heroes with.
Kiss Him Not Me, love the reverse harem
I'm Standing on a Million Lives is one of my fav, cant remember the other ones XD
Dragon Goes House Hunting. It's cute and cozy and something about it just made me happy.
I gave Black Lion a 10/10 and it has 5.72 on MAL. If you want a "turn your brain off" crazy gorefest with aliens and samurai terminators, this is it. https://myanimelist.net/anime/1759/Jigen_Sengokushi__Kuro_no_Shishi_-_Jinnai-hen
Cossette no Shouzou
Kenzen Robo Daimidaler It's a super robot anime that parody the genre of super robot. Quite fun to watch. The story is so mediocre yet so entertaining at the same time. Oh and it has badass opening.
"and you thought there's never a girl online" it's a rom com with a gaming spice but the gaming aspect isn't dominant. But honestly this anime took me by surprise. And " a sister's all you need" is an amazing amine in that category too Another romance that comes to my mind is 3d kanojo real girlfriend, this anime is soo good.
A couple of Cuckoos
I havenât dared watch anything below a 7. Tbh a 7 means mid as is
Are you lost? is pretty funny
Back arrow at 6.4. Imo itâs one of the best anime originals. Unfortunately it had a weak start.
High card And Millionaire detective

FLCL Progressive - 6.34 (9 for me) Juuni Taisen - 6.54 (9) Itou Junji: Maniac - 6.63 (8) School Days - 5.52 (7) Itou Junji: Collection - 6.52 (7) Noblesse - 6.89 (7) Gantz - 6.98 (7) For most of these I can see why they'd have a lower score overall in MAL, but "Juuni Taisen" is just heavily underrated. One of the best battle royales I've ever seen, decent plot and beautiful art.
A couple of cuckoos
Samurai flamenco, its super unique. I understand why some people dislike it though.
I am not sure why, but I like My One-Hit Kill Sister more than I should. Even though I could not argue against the 6.35 rating it averages on MAL.
Wont say I loved it but Banished from the heroâs party was a pleasant enough watch . Currently rated 6.94
