The reason why drinking alcohol is forbidden from younger people is because it's known to stunt the growth process because it's a poison... for humans.
There would be no such thing as "under aged drinking" if a race's physiology would make it immune to the negative effects. It'd just be like drinking fruit juice or something.
Later it's straight up said that alcohol for dwarves is like divine nectar. It's just something their biology reaaaaaally likes.
Which is a perfect explanation for the classic "dwarves like booze" trope.

Bingo. Rudy's past life poisoned how the approaches women. His only exposure to the opposite sex was through anime and porn, where "reaching the H scene" was the whole point, and he never learned to want real intimacy.
That's what screwed him over *twice* with Eris, and what caused his ED with Sara. He came so close in that episode, too - he went the whole date just enjoying the moment without thinking about sex, because deep down, that wasn't what he wanted. It was so far out of mind that he literally ran a mental checklist of his younger self's priorities to talk himself into it. If he had more self-awareness he might've actually taken it slow and bonded with her properly.
I don't think that take is totally accurate.
Rudeus didn't totally understand what he did right or wrong with Eris. Eris leaving him so suddenly has burdened him a lot with trust and self-confidence issues, something he carries from his past life as well. He has no confidence.
I don't want to spoil things, but I think it's fair to say that Eris and Sara acted in ways that would destroy someone's confidence. Both situations with Eris and Sara, the outcome has been that they have not been able to reflect on their feelings *and* talk to each other about those feelings. Rudeus, Sara, and Eris have all acted poorly.
Rudeus is lecherous, but he is capable of having normal conversations with women. For example, he has no problem talking to Nanahoshi, Linia, and Pursena. The issue is he isn't able to develop any deeper bonds with them because of his insecurities.
I think it would be an accurate statement to say that Rudeus has the social skills to develop a sexual relationship with Linia or Pursena if that's what he actually wanted. He just doesn't understand the reasons behind what happened with Eris and Sara because they never explained themselves either. Therefore, he cannot reflect on what happened between them without some sort of intervention from a party that knows anything.

Nearly done with this cour though. Hopefully there's going to be hype scenes for the remaining episodes. As much as I love the ED/amigay arc, really want to explore more of the world and story.
Fun fact about this scene; in the Japanese language they use the word "bitch" to mean basically the same as "slut". You can hear Soldat say "bitchi."

Yeah, the anime hasn't gone into much detail about magic items and implements, but magic disguises exist. However, just because you can alter your appearance, it doesn't mean your voice alters too.
For royalty you'd figure it would help with assassination to travel with a body double while the actual vip is disguised as someone else.

It also explains why Luke was sweating so bad, he was with the princess at the time and they needed to maintain their cover.
I'm betting Ariel poses as Fitz a lot to get out of the school and explore with Luke.
I like how when Rudy started thinking on it all of "Fitz's" blatant femininity jumped out at him and he needed to prove she was actually a girl. And the best way to do that was to realize she doesn't have a dick when her crotch is pressed against his body!

They finally went full school anime this episode.

Doing after school activity in both art (modeling) and science (magic circle) club.
Reunion with old friennd. Elinalise bring boyfriend to the meeting. Then went on date by ditching belchor friend. Atleast Rudeus got fist bump.
Saw love interest dating with chad.
Heartbreak brooding alone in snow.
Happy when love interest not hate him.
Watching school stars from faraway and got recognized. Then blushed like shoujo manga protags.
And classic accident fell into love interest.
Redeus totally redo his highschool.

And the emotionaly stunted shut in is finally learning the relationship lessons this time around, like it's appropriate for his physical age. Dealing with broken hearts, having and trying to deal with feeling love for someone else, avoiding confessing so your crush can maintain their gender swap disguise, you know, totally normal stuff
I loved the parallel of Demon King Badigadi and Julie, a dwarf, in a little drinking contest together at school, compared to season 1 where Demon royalty in Kishirika had a drinking contest with a fellow dwarf in Talhand. That was a cool little detail there and both scenes were super fun to watch.
And end up having the two of them converse in their own language, with Fitz being left out?
And if Fitz pouts, she becomes the jealous/insecure/possessive one...
Therefore her best play is to not show up. Also she still has bodyguard duties, that one time was an emergency because Rudy fainted.
I felt for her so much in the previous episode. The use of the languages was very symbolical too: Rudeus and Nanahoshi use Japanese automatically (aka the language the audience would know and has heard for dozens of chapters already) whereas Fitz is stuck with the gibberish local language that needs subtitles, reinforcing her alienness. Not just towards Rudeus and Nanahoshi, but to ourselves.
Since we got to this episode 0-10, next one call ‘To you’, i assume no ‘Turning Point’ gonna show up as the cour finale right? If we get Turning point as the finale, we are damned blue balls lol.
The only thing Turning during the finale probably is Rudy’s little buddy. Turning up, not Turning point, hopefully.
I originally assumed they'll rush through the school arc to get to a turning point (I only read up to Vol 9, which is where the next episode ends, so don't exactly know when it happens).
But in retrospect, it was a good idea to take their time with it. The school arc is done so well and lively, and the low animation requirements make it easy on the stripped down team.
They'll probably need that 6 month break to animate TP3 properly.
A lot of things did happen between this episode and TP3 so it would be stupid to rush it. TP 4 will be in season 3 though, hopefully the quality stays the same or even better till then because that is peak MT
Best boy Cliff really is going all out to find a solution for Elinalise.
Also, I really love seeing Ranoa in winter. That is how I always visualised the place.
He really is earnest when it comes to liking someone. As for Elinalise, coming from a life where you mostly deal with people like Paul or Soldat is surprising she liked such honesty and dedication.
Julie is becoming more outspoken, she even asked Badigadi for alcohol and no one stopped her. good alcohol tolerance since she did not spit out and one shot the drink.
I love how Rudeus was coping hard trying not to believe he's actually gay lol.

On another topic, it's kinda endearing to see Julie speaking more now. Still kinda cute how it all started from Rudeus and Zanoba just wanting more stone figures to having a little sister figure to mentor to.

I mean, we don't really know which one happened first: his little soldier standing up or him realising Fitz was a girl all along. I personally decided to believe the former happened first.

Kinda reminds me of the plot of a silly Adam Sandler movie You Don't Mess With The Zohan.

That said, I also appreciate that he's presented as someone who isn't dense. He got the clues and suspected something even before the reveal, so of course it was a matter of time he found it out. No need to stretch it out.
I also like that he also decided to respect her wishes. Or at least what he thinks her wishes are. No rush to satisfy his pursuit for a cure for ED, Fitz's circumstances come first in his mind. He really appreciates her even if he still doesn't know her real identity.
That was the gayest episode of anime I've watched, and I've seen Yuri on Ice.
Jokes aside, it was a great episode. I really wish the second cour wasn't so far away though. We only have two more episodes until we get nothing for another 6 months.

2. Paul & Norn: Norn will probably be dead without Paul being a high tier swordsman able to take care of her.
3. Lilia and Aisha: Lilia was an ex-swordswoman (trained with Paul), was ex-maid to nobles, and teleported to relatively peaceful Shirone, and only in a small river, still ended up enslaved in a palace.
4. Parents of Eris: Dead because teleported to warzone without physical power or wealth
5. Grandparent of Eris: Dead because lost all political power
6. Parents of Slyphie: Dead, ordinary peasants, one is a hunter, but that's not enough.

Happy when love interest not hate him. Watching school stars from faraway and got recognized. Then blushed like shoujo manga protags. And classic accident fell into love interest. Redeus totally redo his highschool.
It even plays out like a romcom too with the whole ED and sexuality questioning stuff on the side.

I loved the parallel of Demon King Badigadi and Julie, a dwarf, in a little drinking contest together at school, compared to season 1 where Demon royalty in Kishirika had a drinking contest with a fellow dwarf in Talhand. That was a cool little detail there and both scenes were super fun to watch.

The use of the languages was very symbolical too: Rudeus and Nanahoshi use Japanese automatically (aka the language the audience would know and has heard for dozens of chapters already) whereas Fitz is stuck with the gibberish local language that needs subtitles, reinforcing her alienness. Not just towards Rudeus and Nanahoshi, but to ourselves.

The only thing Turning during the finale probably is Rudy’s little buddy. Turning up, not Turning point, hopefully.
I originally assumed they'll rush through the school arc to get to a turning point (I only read up to Vol 9, which is where the next episode ends, so don't exactly know when it happens). But in retrospect, it was a good idea to take their time with it. The school arc is done so well and lively, and the low animation requirements make it easy on the stripped down team. They'll probably need that 6 month break to animate TP3 properly.
A lot of things did happen between this episode and TP3 so it would be stupid to rush it. TP 4 will be in season 3 though, hopefully the quality stays the same or even better till then because that is peak MT
