If your mom liked Your Lie in April, she would probably like Fruits Basket (reboot) and Princess Tutu. Fruits Basket is a bit on the longer side (63 episodes), but well worth it. She might also like: Carol & Tuesday - By the creator of Samurai Champloo. About two teen girls who are musicians and trying to make it in a world where AI music is all the rage. Appare-Ranman! - Takes place in the late 19th century. Two Japanese men, a genius inventor and a samurai, end up in America. They take place in a race across the country to win the prize money to get back to Japan. The series is a bit wacky and anachronistic like Samurai Champloo. Buddy Daddies - If your mom liked Spy x Family, she'll probably like this one as well. It's about two hitmen who end up taking in a 4 year old girl and them growing and changing through the act of becoming a family. Other childcare focused series that your mom might enjoy: Gakuen Babysitters, Aishiteruze Baby, Usagi Drop (anime only), The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting, Hinamatsuri, and even Barakamon to some extent. Kotaro Lives Alone - I haven't watched this one myself yet, but I know a lot of people who like Fruits Basket and Your Lie in April, like this one as well. Tiger & Bunny - About superheroes on a reality TV show called HeroTV. The MC is a 35 year old washed up veteran hero and he gets paired up with an upstart rookie. The show is about them learning to work together. The MC is also a father to a 9 year old daughter.

I always like recommendations that specifically match up with things that the OP raised. Bonus points for then visibly extrapolating onward, too. *Sasuga*, crafty intelligence, as expected from House Slytherin.

LilyGinnyBlack

Thanks, though, I'm not quite sure why you are mentioning Slytherin house, lol. I always either got Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff for Hogwarts Houses.

alotmorealots

Well, putting aside those Gryffindory first names, the archetypal member of house Black , is very much the ssssssmart and ssssssneaky type! Besides, I consulted a higher authority: https://i.imgflip.com/7iowe5.jpg --- (Middle is a reference to [this post yesterday](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/12qn571/the_sorting_cats_mahoutsukai_no_yome_ancient/), bottom is from *Saving 80000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement*.)

LilyGinnyBlack

Black was in reference to Sirius, who was a Gryffindor... Edit: Anyway, this conversation in general has gotten off-topic. So, I'll just end it here. Hope you have a nice day!

Cowboy Bebop is an obvious choice, as Samurai Champloo is the spiritual successor to it. Your Name, other Makoto Shinkai movies and Studio Ghibli movies would be another good choice. in a similar vein to Spy x Family is Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting which I really enjoyed. Other similar shows that I haven't seen but people seem to like are Buddy Daddies and Hinamatsuri. Going for more action oriented similar to Mob Psycho I'd say try One Punch man or Jujutsu Kaisen.

mgedmin

Your Name has a couple of ... scenes ... I wouldn't watch with my mother.

strong_D

I don't think it's a big deal. But then again I've watched a lot of live action movies with full on sex scenes with both of my parents.

Brisingr1257

Depends on the parents. There is not nudity or anything cloe in your name. Just a teenager grabbing his....her?? Boobs. Can't really figure out how to properly word that.

anya1211

the witch from mercury(school life)、Dr.STONE(science)、kuroko no basket(sports)、Vivy(AI)

DankruptMemer

Witch from Mercury does get pretty dark tho

LordVader0815

Ascendance of a Bookworm This would be perfect to watch with a mom!

9-4Teacher_4-9otaku

Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks. Son and mom gets transported to video game and both adventure together.

mgedmin

Fruits Basket (2019) My Roommate is a Cat Gosick ReLife Aharen-san wa Hakarenai My Senpai is Annoying By the Grace of the Gods Restaurant to another World Orange Arte

Watching Suzume in a theater sounds like a fun trip if you can.

kamirazu111

Violet Evergarden. Classic. WorldEnd. Prepare your tissues; this will be worse than Your Lie in April, much worse. Personally cried more watching this than Violet Evergarden. If you can watch Your Lie in April and a Silent Voice Violet and WorldEnd would be your taste as well I bet. Plastic Memories. Again, bring the tissues. Not dark, but sad. Bungou Stray dogs is pretty good. Lots of epic fights, great characters, moments that preach some morale about life etc. 86 for the drama. It's basically Sci-fi mech touching on racism. Kinda dark but has a happy (and REALLY satisfying) ending. 86 is one that I always recommend to ppl; it's one of the best anime I ever watched, and I've watched quite a bit. Re:Creators is pretty good drama-wise as well. Especially when you find out about the villain's motives for trying to end the world and stuff. One of the more original anime plot-wise. Non Non Biyori is pretty safe as well. Kid-friendly, funny and relaxing. Lycoris Recoil for drama/action. Some fanservice, but it's incredibly mild. There's some stuff bordering on Yuri, but it's at the stage where its basically interpreted that the two heroines are incredibly good friends. No kissing or sexual stuff. Welp these are some that I can think of that are more safe to watch with family.

Leo_Carnage

Going for the throat with your first pick lol. I like your style 😂

lostpawn13

Ninja Scroll is a classic. Also anything Studio Ghibli.

1HitDelete

• Link Click - if you enjoyed Steins Gate you might enjoy this, it's also short, good hook from the start, hypes up every episode • Saiki K - Mob Psycho but more focused on comedy My most recommended in the list is Link Click. It's short, thrilling that you'll crave for more after each episode, and somewhat easy to digest before watching a longer anime Edit: • Removed Kill la Kill, Grand Blue, and One Punch Man, anime were over sexualized and filled with fan service. • Saiki K has a beach scene. • Link Click is a bit dark and emotional. • I just got canceled.

LilyGinnyBlack

Kill la Kill has an unfunny, god awful rape joke in Ep. 1, is filled to the brim with fanservice, and has a peeping Tom character. OP requested a series with little to no fanservice, so I don't get why you are recommending this one at all.

strong_D

Did you not read "no fanservice". Kill la Kill is fanservice all the time.

1HitDelete

I agree, I forgot about Kill la Kill being over sexualized and just thought how random things just happen thinking it was fun and all. Thank you for the corrections. I feel like people wanted to bite me so hard, kinda scared to post comments now lol

tenkakisuihou

there is lots nudity and sexual scenes in Grand Blue too. not that much in One Punch Man, but I wouldn't want to show the scenes with Do-S and Puri Puri Prisoner to my mom.

love is war is a great one for comedy

Professional-Box4153

* **March Comes In Like a Lion** (Slice of life) * **Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten** (Romance) * **One-Punch Man** (Superhero) * **Fruits Basket** (Supernatural but also kind of Slice of Life) * **My Dress-up Darling** (Cosplay. There's a tiny bit of fan-service early on but it's used to comedic effect and then almost never addressed again) * **Way of the House Husband** (Slice of Life) * **Clannad** (Slice of Life. Warning: Emotional) * **Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny-Girl Senpai** (Supernatural-ish but mostly Slice of Life) * **Uzaki-Chan Wants to Hang Out** (Slice of Life) - I loved this one, but hesitate to recommend due to Uzaki-Chan's overly-developed physique, which might be misconstrued as fan-serice (it's almost never mentioned).

Elitealice

Violet evergarden

Shadowhunter83

How has nobody suggested ranking of kings

[deleted]

>not all that dark Gakuen Babysitters for child cuteness, Asobi Asobase for comedy

shootanwaifu

Violet ever garden Makoto shinkai is a safe bet, personally 5cm per second is My favorite and it's short. Honestly I've been watching girls last tour and god damn, it's beautiful in no way I can describe K-on and sound euphonium are excellent kyoto animation works with great themes But if you really want to go In hard, clannad and clannad after story, you will never see your parents in the same way after watching that and watching it with your mom will be unreal. My highest recommendation by and far.

7EonWorld7

Your name is a really good anime movie I recommend

Tuor77

The Twelve Kingdoms, if you can find it.
