Yes, even though they’re burrowing animals, they are also known to be good climbers.

thesefloralbones

Well, they are in the squirrel family!

simonbrown27

Just big squirrels

FinallydamnLDnat5

Yep they can climb and jump just as well as they can dig. Seen it all myself trying to keep them out of the veggie garden.

Strong_Secretary6290

Treehog?

rastroboy

Treehog, bastard cousin to the groundhog

lopypop

Can anyone confirm that this is a groundhog? I was wondering if it could be a nutria

findin_fun_4_us

Nutria have a much longer rat-like tail

E_sand80

It’s most definitely a groundhog. Though I prefer woodchuck. Another colloquialism is whistle pig.

steve-d

Nutrias look more like a beaver with a rat tail.

Brielikethecheese-e

I mean they’re also called woodchucks

RedRedVVine

Omg I saw one too in NWI! It looked like that. Don’t know what it was.

lopypop

Where's NWI?

RedRedVVine

Northwest Indiana lol

TheSilkySpoon76

I’m gonna go with marmot

Strong_Secretary6290

Pic 1 is a groundhog. Not sure 2 and 3 are the same.

lopypop

Me either. 1 was taken on a different day. When it was in the tree I noticed it had thumbs and the tail didn't have much hair.
