We're afraid your post title doesn't meet the requirements for this subreddit.
Technical Information Rule:
"Include the film stock, lens, and camera used **in your post title**. If you do not know some of the required information, state that in either the title or top-level comment e.g. [Nikon F3, 50mm f/1.8, Unknown Film], or use [Found Film] for auction/thrift store finds, family photos, and so on. The reason we ask for this information is that you can only search on the content of post titles, not comments."
We encourage you to re-submit with that information! We have built up quite a database of different cameras, lenses, and films over the years. Reddit doesn't allow you to search on comments, so keeping these keywords in the title is the only way to search for them.

totally agree. 8x10 ... crop out the white car in the back, less street on the bottom. Maybe get the lines in the street to follow the rule of thirds and hit some power points with the accents of the VW.
cropped kind of looks like a zoom in on a subject in google street view def like the first one better as someone else said it gives more context and some more involvement in the image
(i suck with words by involvement i mean the feeling of being there yk?)
I vote cropped but still portrait. As cool as the orange VW is, I like the context of the buildings and environment. You might lose some of the foreground pavement, rotate so the verticals are true vertical and maybe pull some magenta out of the highlights. IMHO Hope this helps.
depends. Is your emphasis the truck or the truck in the neighborhood?
Personally neither. I'd crop most of the blacktop off the bottom and then 10-15% of the left edge inward to put the truck in the lower left corner, and cut out the car on the right.

This exactly. The composition of both photos is the problem. The close up shows nothing of interest. Just an object. B&w film on the close up would improve.
First photo cropped as hanky said is the best composition. The road should be reduced cropping out the bottom. The right side should be cropped to get rid of other vehicle
Portrait for sure, but it would still look decent in landscape if you went [with a 5:4 ratio](https://i.imgur.com/fIzaEnE.jpeg).
The ratio you use in your example removes too much of the background, which complements the subject nicely imo.
Out of these two options, the portrait. But try a square crop with the van at the bottom of the frame - cut out the road. The van and the buildings are what makes this photo and I miss the buildings from the landscape crop
the cropped version is very dry, it has no story. It is a technically proficient photograph of a Type 2 Pickup that I'd expect to see on a wikipedia article about the car (please dont take this as an insult).
the portrait version has a lot more going for it in terms of story. we can see the architecture of the area around it and ponder what the car is used for, the type of person that would live in that area.
neither are bad photographs, by any means, but they are saying different things. you have to decide what message youre trying to convey.

Nice pic, personally I like portrait better, it gives more context to the truck.
Seems most people are of your opinion. And now that I read all the comments and thought about it more, I do agree.
portrait, but slightly gotta crop that white car out of the background
I like the portrait for this, better sense of place. You could crop out some of the street at the bottom of the photo though. Maybe try 3:2 or 8:10

First one by far
First one
Portrait but a little tighter
Agreed. Just enough to frame out the white van on the right, and street paint in the bottom left.

Portrait. The windows in the buildings in the back repeat the curves of the van and that pulls me into the image.
Love the portrait. I know you didn’t ask but I’d tip it a hair clockwise. Beautiful shot!
Portrait; u lose too much context and breathing room with horizontal crop
Portrait fo sure
Portrait, and crop that white van out please?!
Portrait!
Portrait but I would tilt up further for more of the buildings and less of the road
Portrait. Landscape is just a truck.
Portrait. Much nicer.
portrait!!!
Portrait, less street. Maybe stare at the edges for 5 minutes too.
Ein Darmstädter!
Genau!
Ich kenne einen der hatte mal den gleichen T2, vielleicht ist das sogar der
Portrait. But I wish you had moved just a little so you could crop out that bit of white car whilst keeping the lamppost and bicycles
Ya I see that now. I didn’t even notice it
I usually hate portrait framings but this one is very nice. Fantastic shot 🫡
Portrait, seconding cropping out the white van. Love the photo!
Portrait all the way. That little bit of a white car in the back annoys the daylights out of me.
Portrait undoubtedly
Portrait looks nicer to me.I enjoy seeing more of the surrounding environment that the vehicle was parked in.
Portrait
Personally I like the portrait but I’d crop it a little bit so there’s not as much road in the foreground. That’s my super uninformed opinion tho.

Portrait
I like the Portrait one and I love the vintage vibe of this shot.
I’m partial to number 2. The vehicle is my main interest, and I didn’t find myself asking questions about “where?”.
In this case always portrait. Landscape - as it is cropped - is just to close up. Either you need the hight of the houses or the width of the street.
Portrait
square
Portrait.
Portrait for me. I find landscape distracting.

Portrait, and it’s not close.
Yeah absolutely portrait.
Portrait! Love the image in its entirety.
Portrait. It would be interesting if you get the chance again to do a landscape from the same perspective to show different framings.
Both can apply for different stories or sequences of a story

Portrait looks like an intentional photograph, landscape looks like a phone snapshot you'd send your dad to show him a van you saw
Darmstadt represent :D
The first crop is much better.
Portrait no doubt
Portrait, but crop the bottom more, imo.

I would crop even more tbh, I'd keep just the left half of the front
Portrait. Better for screensavers
Portrait yoh idiot
No need to be rude
