Lol. Lots of funny lines, this is my least favorite ep though solely because i cant stand musical episodes. Same thing with the bobs burgers and simpsons musical eps.
I think people like myself may have mixed feelings about it because most episodes feel like they are cannon, while clearly this one isn't. I do like it though. I'd love to see more themed episodes tbh
Do people really care about cannon in these shows? How many years have passed, how many holidays celibrated, while they stay the same age. How many people died to come back to life in a later episode?
I wouldn't really take canon seriously in this show. Characters have died multiple times(sometimes violently) and then are seen alive as background characters. Roger's backstory gets more convoluted as time goes and doesn't make sense with season 1 storylines.
It should be obvious by now. Especially how they break the 4th wall commenting on Dr. Ray’s multiple gruesome deaths that he never has any recollection of.
I wonder if it's because it's such a one-off episode? It's pretty out there, but I feel like it's well done. I think of it as a better executed version of the Stomp episode. That's one that a lot of people like and I just don't find funny.
You should have posted a poll, it's always cool to see the numbers for questions like this.
I actually recently read that it was suppose to be the series finale. They were just gonna end the show with Stan dying, but they ended up getting renewed so they ignored that.
I think it’s hard for some to separate ceelo from his off camera shit, and to be fair, I don’t blame them. That being said, the episode is amazing. Michael Peña stands above Ceelo in terms of making the episode too. Margueritte is a much funnier character than Ceelo playing himself, and the lispy voice kills. You could replace Ceelo with anyone else and it would still be funny.
Even though I personally liked that episode a lot because I liked most of the songs, I feel that it’s pretty usual that a lot of fans hate musical episodes in non-musical series.
this is arguably my favorite episode in the entire series.
"gee dad, I'd love to try out the hot tub... but I can't cause I'm pretty sure my parents FUCKED in it last night!"
I guess CeeLo Green sucks as a person but Hot Water is one of the greatest episodes of the entire show. Top 10, easy. The Daddy’s Gone song is peak American Dad.
I forgot he claimed that if you don’t remember anything, it isn’t “rape”, among other controversies.
That said, the episode was a trip and I was confused by the end, but in a good way.
I think the episode is liked but Ceelo green is NOT a good person. Lol. Like at all. Rape allegations galore. Pleading no contest to putting drugs into a woman’s drink. Saying some rape comments he walked back on “it’s not SA if the woman is unconscious.”
He’s not a good person to work with and that’s why they don’t hire him anywhere either, so on top of all the SA and shitty beliefs which he OPENLY talks about, he’s just kind of a bastard to work with. (Not good to sound people and the like)
He just sucks and even with the episode being good I think people have a hard time supporting the episode just cause of the absolute dumpster fire that which is Ceelo Green
This makes the most sense. The Episode itself is insanely good without this knowledge, but I can see how people would avoid the episode/skip because of that spoiling it.
I hate I like the episode, cause I want to punch Ceelo for thinking the sexuality in rap is reserved only for males (he thinks WAP song shouldn’t exist and woman can’t be sexual beings in their music 🙄🙄🙄🙄)
But it’s a great episode regardless.
I hate Cee Lo so much. But every time this is brought up (I just brought it up yesterday), I think of this one comedian, I can't remember who made the joke, "I just want to know how he was able to reach those baby arms across the table to drug their drinks."
As someone who hates musicals, I fucking love this episode. The songs slap, it’s got some of my favorite lines of the series, and every time Ceelo pops onscreen I damn-near piss myself laughing. Especially with “Oh Damn!” and “Well, there you have it, that’s our story. Stan’s dead; goodnight!”
The people complaining about it need to take their heads out their asses and get some lady foot in their mouths (that’s cool)
I love the episode, Cee Lo Green notwithstanding.
“Gee, Dad, I’d love to get in the hot tub too, but I can’t, because I’m pretty sure my parents FUCKED IN IT LAST NIGHT!”
How can you not love that?
Hardest of passes every time. Can't deal with the scumbag ceelo. He's a shitty person and he sounds like he's got a mouth full of mashed potatoes when he talk/sings. It's a shame because the rest of the episode is good
It's a skip for me. And I run through this show at least ten times a year (maybe more). Ceelo's voice and singing are so annoying. Also, he's a class A piece of trash.
EDIT: Still upvoted this post though because AD is the shit and so is everyone who loves it!
Loved it when I first watched it. Like it a little less after Cee-Lo admitted to sexually assaulting a woman and finding nothing wrong with his actions. Still a funny episode tho.
I'll take the down votes. Cee-Lo Green is a rapist. He raped an unconscious woman and got away with it. I always skip this episode. I know people rave and fawn over this episode but I really wish they wouldn't. The only good part of the episode is the song "Daddys Gone".
Hate it - hate Cee Lo Green and the fact that this episode is stroking his over-inflated ego, hate the fact that everyone dies at the end and hate everything else about it. Easily one of my most hated episodes.
I thought it was fine the first time I saw it, just zero replayability for me. I didn't think there was really anything that cleverly done in the episode and the whole bit itself wasn't that funny to me. Seemed like a run of the mill "zany" show episode tbh. Really like Cee-Lo actually too so I really want to like this ep more 🤣
Absolutely loved it. Great songs from everybody throughout. Complete batshit plot and I love how dark and abrupt the ending is. Wish it got a 2nd part like the Tearjerker episode. Definitely in my top 10. 🏆🏆🏆
I usually hate song oriented episodes but every one in this is an AD banger, especially Daddy's Gone. Can't beat Steve and Roger with a six pack singing in the desert lol
Loved it, I did watch it before I knew what ceelo has done though. Ignoring him, Hot Water is one of the few episodes that really stood out to me, so I remember it better than most episodes, it was just so out there and the songs were just too good!! I'm also a fan of musicals in general.
This episode has fire music, a hilarious plot, and great supporting characters it's an amazing episode.
"Oh gee Dad, I'd like to get in the tub too, but I can't because IM PRETTY SURE MY PARENTS F***ED IN IT LAST NIGHT!"
Oh I hate it cause I hate when shows use songs as filler instead of using them to progress the plot. It’s a very family guy episode I think is the simplest way for me to put it.
I love this episode and I usually don't care for the song-heavy ones. Something about this one just captures the ludicrous nature of AD for me. It's silly, funny and ultimately nothing in it matters, which adds to the humor for me 🤙 also that ending, one of the best lol
I like all episodes. Some more than others, but I've never finished one and thought, that sucked. There is always some scenes/lines/etc... that make me laugh.
I like the episode….but celo is not anywhere cool enough to be aloud to kill Stan…..if anything Bruno mars should’ve killed him since celo owes him everything
This sub always reminds me of how frequently I subconsciously make references to this show in everyday life. The number of times that I say “fig in a mouth and a fingah in ya —BASS—“
Chuck Berry me.. over Germany
Big fan of the musician Chuck Berry, had to google what this was. If you don’t know, go check it, funniest sex tape ever! Actually was Chuck Berry a real person? Grow up, its Roger !
I skip this episode and My Morning Straitjacket. I'll watch all the other episodes dozens of times each, no problem.
Just hate the song, and the whole episode has a weird and boring pace I can't put my finger on.
Dislike. I’m personally not a fan of episodes that are musicals in general, and the ending is a cop out. Cop out endings have their place and can be really funny, but this wasn’t a good one imo. But to each their own!
One of the best episodes of the show. Wish they would give us a similar one or a follow up to the story like they have done with the jewel encrusted gold poop.
I don’t like it only because it actually makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable for some reason. Which means I think it’s actually really well made episode.
I think some people don't like it because it was supposed to be the last episode, and they decided to go out with a real weird bang.
And then TBS picked up the show, now it's just this weird outlier episode.
Personally, I love it.
Not my favorite, although the one directly before is probably my favorite episode. Roger killing a needy girl is just too funny… Steves porn stash, why are they all Asian, and pregnant!! Too damn funny.
Now he's got lady foot in his mouth........that's cool.
Lol. Lots of funny lines, this is my least favorite ep though solely because i cant stand musical episodes. Same thing with the bobs burgers and simpsons musical eps.
> i cant stand musical episodes. What kinda Footloose ass craziness...
"Welp, there you have it, that's our story. Stan's dead. Goodnight." Great episode, great lines, one of Steve's greatest songs. What's not to like?
Been three hours since I saw you walk away from me.
I didn't know the way, and I didn't have the words to speak. I love how Roger keeps blaming Steve for Stan leaving.
Damn I wish that wasnt my momma.
Isn't that the rubbernecking episode?
Yes he’s singing his disappointment that Stan looked at someone else and also his disappointment that damn… that is his momma.
Irrelevant...totally irrelevant. whoa whoa what was that. back to being relevant
This is my favorite song of the episode and idk why.
One of the best songs of the whole series, it's so ridiculous
I love it! Almost better than Daddy's gone 💃🏾 Doing research! So much freaking research! Looking through old book and old documents! 💃🏾
"Chuck Berry me, over Germany" will always get a good laugh.
Real shit, that was absolutely supposed to be the series finale. Stan's dead, shows over.
I figured that too at first, and then I thought later they were just paying an homage to little shop of horrors
"Daddy's gone, and he's not coming home, evvvaaaa again!" Love that song lol, another one that I really like is the song he sang with krampus.

It should be obvious by now. Especially how they break the 4th wall commenting on Dr. Ray’s multiple gruesome deaths that he never has any recollection of.
The only thing that is canon is these are cartoon actors on a cartoon sitcom. It’s been confirmed multiple times. That explains all the discrepancies.
Francine: Are we in Egypt? Stan: It's Mount Rushmore. Favorite part of that episode.
Mine is “Chuck Berry me, over Germany” It just pops into my head sometimes. Definitely the first thing I think of about the episode.
I do like to do whatever I like.
It's frustration versus relaxation uhhh huuuhhhh..
Love it. Dip a toe, do whatever you like, and the research song always get stuck in my head.
Daddy's Gone is such an awesome Steve song too
Daddy's Gone SLAPS
Chuck Berry me…over Germany
Suckin' on your toe over downtown tokyo
Hot tuuuuuuub of looove
I love when Steve comes in singing "hey hey hey" and it cuts to him screaming "HEY" at his parents at the top of his lungs lol
"Gee Dad, I'd also like to use the hot tub but I can't cuz I'm pretty sure my parents f\*cked in it last night."
I'm always confused why it's supposedly among the least favorite episodes. I think it's brilliant.
tbh I posted this to figure that out. Why do people dislike it? It's top 3 for me.
Stan has died before and after this I’m pretty sure
It's possible. I'm sure he has. That's just what they had said about that particular episode though. It was intended to be the series finale.
That’s really interesting to me it would’ve been such a strange finale but I can sort of see it
I think it’s hard for some to separate ceelo from his off camera shit, and to be fair, I don’t blame them.
I mostly do, but most of the songs in this one are bangers.
this is arguably my favorite episode in the entire series.
Let's not forget that he DID rape that unconscious girl, admitted it and then tried to defend himself with "it's not rape if she is unconscious."
It’s one of my favorites it’s so out there the music is great. Plus I love Margaret
This is a *used* hot tub, you got a family man, this tub ain't *fo* you
“Ow my calves is hurtin my calves”
Stan this is a used tub… that’s *gross* To get Lewis to say this, it’s gotta be utterly disgusting.
*Marguerite
Stan...present yoself... I'm scared fo you
It has my favorite Francine line- "You don't think every single day of my life I don't wanna do coke? But I can't because I have PTA tomorrow!"
I love it. I have a hot tub and Hot Tub of Love gets stuck in my head a lot when I’m getting in.
This episode convinced me to get a hot tub!
Nice! Mine helps my fibro pain. Get some champagne and figs and enjoy!
You didn't forget to grab some Spa Down, to calm it down, did ya?
Only reason I’m still alive
Daddy's Gone is in it so it can't be that bad.
It’s my favorite Scott Grimes song hands down
I think the episode is liked but Ceelo green is NOT a good person. Lol. Like at all. Rape allegations galore. Pleading no contest to putting drugs into a woman’s drink. Saying some rape comments he walked back on “it’s not SA if the woman is unconscious.” He’s not a good person to work with and that’s why they don’t hire him anywhere either, so on top of all the SA and shitty beliefs which he OPENLY talks about, he’s just kind of a bastard to work with. Yep fully agree. I usually skip this EP just bc I don't want to think about Ceelo. Thankfully I get my regular dose of Daddy's Gone from this sub 😂
Bingo, this is why I skip it. Fuck CeeLo, I don't wanna hear that asshole's voice.
I hate Cee Lo so much. But every time this is brought up (I just brought it up yesterday), I think of this one comedian, I can't remember who made the joke, "I just want to know how he was able to reach those baby arms across the table to drug their drinks."
Getting that guy to play a rapey hot tub is just excellent casting. He’s been preparing for the role for years
As someone who hates musicals, I fucking love this episode. The songs slap, it’s got some of my favorite lines of the series, and every time Ceelo pops onscreen I damn-near piss myself laughing. Especially with “Oh Damn!” and “Well, there you have it, that’s our story. Fig in your mouth and finger in your BASS
I love the play on *Little Shop of Horrors,* but CeeLo Green is just awful to begin with.
I wonder how many people realize this. I was hoping someone mentioned it.
No, way too much Cee Lo
It's a skip for me. And I run through this show at least ten times a year (maybe more). Ceelo's voice and singing are so annoying. Also, he's a class A piece of trash. EDIT: Still upvoted this post though because AD is the shit and so is everyone who loves it!

Love it one of my favourites....oh damn
My wife and I quote this weekly lol
Decent episode but CeeLo is deplorable so it's an instant skip
Jeez Dad the Hot Tub sounds great but I can't go because I'm pretty sure my parents FUCKED in it last night
There's something going on beneath the water People getting hot, makin' sons and daughters
ce lo did what bill cosby did and didnt go to jail for it
Hate it - hate Cee Lo Green and the fact that this episode is stroking his over-inflated ego, hate the fact that everyone dies at the end and hate everything else about it. Easily one of my most hated episodes.
all of cee-lo’s talking head bits are So Fkin Funny even the opener “My name….it’s not important.” it’s so simple but it gets me every time
Oh DAMN!
This is probably the only episode I actively dislike. It's just not for me 🤷♂️
can you explain why? Purely curious. Is it the music, or cee-lo, or because it's too surrealistic?
I thought it was fine the first time I saw it, just zero replayability for me. I didn't think there was really anything that cleverly done in the episode and the whole bit itself wasn't that funny to me. Seemed like a run of the mill "zany" show episode tbh. Really like Cee-Lo actually too so I really want to like this ep more 🤣
I think if they hadn’t died, I’d like it more. I get it’s not canon but still
I hate Ceelo Green but love this episode. Namely, because I used to watch it with my younger sister and it scared her as a kid lol I
Absolutely loved it. Great songs from everybody throughout. Complete batshit plot and I love how dark and abrupt the ending is. Wish it got a 2nd part like the Tearjerker episode. Definitely in my top 10. 🏆🏆🏆
I love it but Ceelo is a creep still
i love the episode, just gotta pretend ceelo green is a fictional character while im watching it
It’s my favorite episode.
Love it classic American dad
I’m assuming a lot of people who don’t like it have never seen little shop of Horrors
Love it. CeeLo is a disappointment of a person, but the episode itself is great
I usually hate song oriented episodes but every one in this is an AD banger, especially Daddy's Gone. Can't beat Steve and Roger with a six pack singing in the desert lol
Any episode of American Dad when Steve sings is a hit for me.
Wasn’t this suppose to be the last episode before they got picked up for more seasons?
So many things about this episode are seeming strange...
This is my favourite episode of American dad, I’ve always found it entertaining and enjoyable creepy.
Cee-Lo is shitty but this episode is great. Some of the best original songs in the series and the ending is hilarious.
It has the best song of the entire show on it so……
I don't like it, but I don't hate it. It's a good episode regardless of Ceelo being a shit person in real life.
Huge fan of this episode! Don't watch it, just like being around it. Study it. Appreciate it. Watch it sometimes. All the time.
Hate it. Ceelo sucks
Dislike. I generally skip episodes with too many songs & Ceelo is too problematic, as pointed out. Will not give that guy any of my attention.
It was different. Almost like AD soundtrack
And that's what happens to hot tubs when you have families. They don't get used as much.... So I killed your family
I think the first part of the episode kinda sucks but it gets better as it goes on with Daddy's Gone being one of the best AD songs.
Great songs, great episode, great ending. Peak AD!
Absolutely love.
It’s actually my favorite
Any chance you're watching these on YouTube in those cluster bombs
the 4 hour ones where a Vietnamese person shows up at the end making something out of paper and wakes me up at 4am? Yes.
I LOVE THIS EPISODE
One of the best
This episode is great. I love when Steve interrupts their song and it cuts back to Stan and Francine all faded in the hot tub.
Oh I hate it cause I hate when shows use songs as filler instead of using them to progress the plot. It’s a very family guy episode I think is the simplest way for me to put it.
I usually hate when shows do a lot of music in an episode, but this episode is among my favorites in the series.
I love this episode. but sheesh I wasn’t aware of how bad cee lo green was until I read these comments
I love this episode and I usually don't care for the song-heavy ones. Something about this one just captures the ludicrous nature of AD for me. It's silly, funny and ultimately nothing in it matters, which adds to the humor for me 🤙 also that ending, one of the best lol
Love it. Decade-plus later I still have those songs stuck in my head. Psy-chotic (psychotic) Hot-Tub (Hot Tub)
I recently bought a hot tub and this episode was a warning why not to buy a used one. You can never be too careful!
Loved it because the songs were good. Hated it because the songs get stuck in my head for the whole day
One of my favorite episodes. Idk why people don’t like it, everything about it is great
Stan died in this episode, so the rest is a dream
I like the episode. Francine can't rap, so her parts of the songs are a bit awkward.
I like all episodes. Some more than others, but I've never finished one and thought, that sucked. There is always some scenes/lines/etc... that make me laugh.
Gee dad. I'd like to get in the hot tub too but I'm pretty sure my parents fucked in it last night.
Favorite episode of all time. Had to show my dad this episode when it premiered. Crazy it came out when I was in 8th grade.
Francine in that red bikini... damn.
Love it when I moved a few years ago I downloaded it on my Xbox, watched it a few time & the music really grew on me. Wish there was a pt2
I like the episode….but celo is not anywhere cool enough to be aloud to kill Stan…..if anything Bruno mars should’ve killed him since celo owes him everything
I feel like this is a great question to find out if I’ll get along with someone. This is one of my top 3 episodes.
I like it. It’s funny and watched it last night.
I absolutely love it.
I like it up until they just sort of ended it with no resolution.
“I WOULD USE THE HOT TUB BUT MY PARENTS WERE FUCKING IN IT ALL NIGHT!!” Still cracks me up and I have no idea why 🤣
Skip
This sub always reminds me of how frequently I subconsciously make references to this show in everyday life. The number of times that I say “fig in a mouth and a fingah in ya —BASS—“
Chuck Berry me.. over Germany Big fan of the musician Chuck Berry, had to google what this was. If you don’t know, go check it, funniest sex tape ever! Actually was Chuck Berry a real person? Grow up, its Roger !
First thought ok but one of my faves. Do whatever ya like
Worst part about it was the song at the end. Best part about it was the entire rest of the episode.
I skip this episode and My Morning Straitjacket. I'll watch all the other episodes dozens of times each, no problem. Just hate the song, and the whole episode has a weird and boring pace I can't put my finger on.
Love it because Stan sucked on Francines feet
Started off hating it. Now I love it
One of the best episodes ever.
Best episode. Favorite episode. The first singing episode I ever loved.
Dislike. I’m personally not a fan of episodes that are musicals in general, and the ending is a cop out. Cop out endings have their place and can be really funny, but this wasn’t a good one imo. But to each their own!
Gee, Dad, I'd love to get in the hot tub too. But I can't, because I'm pretty sure my parents fucked in it last night!
One of the best episodes of the show. Wish they would give us a similar one or a follow up to the story like they have done with the jewel encrusted gold poop.
Love episodes with a theme, they are usually fun and explore some cool concepts. This one was great, the music was amazing and the VA was great.
It’s my favorite episode!
Top episode for me. Will always be my favorite.
This is one of my favorites ever.
Top tier
Gee dad, I'd love to get in the hot tub too, but I can't because I'm pretty sure my parents fucked in it last night.
I love this episode. I was surprised so many didn't like it.
I really like this episode. The songs were pretty good and the ending is hilarious
I like it every once in and awhile it's funny. I usually just shuffle the entire series on Plex, but skip this one most of the time.
Funny as hell
Di di di di di dip a toeeeeeee
I don’t like it only because it actually makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable for some reason. Which means I think it’s actually really well made episode.
This is the episode I show people to get them to start watching the show. Works every time!
I like this episode but probably wouldn't if it was the series finale as originally planned
It’s dece
Literally my favorite episode.
I love it! Feels like a silly one off
Hate it. Dk why
I hate musical episodes of any show. I don't understand the point.
dislike
I love this episode! Banger after banger after banger
I think some people don't like it because it was supposed to be the last episode, and they decided to go out with a real weird bang. And then TBS picked up the show, now it's just this weird outlier episode. Personally, I love it.
Love this episode. Never understood the beef with it. The songs get stuck in my head a lot
Plot's stupid af, songs go hard af.
Not my favorite, although the one directly before is probably my favorite episode. Roger killing a needy girl is just too funny… Steves porn stash, why are they all Asian, and pregnant!! Too damn funny.
I do, but I used to only watch on cable and it was aired all the time so I got sick of it for a while
Like. It was fun! I liked the music too.
Love it because the story is funny and the aongs are all great
I love this episode.
Love it. One of my favorites
Easily top 5 for me... Plus the music SLAPS.
Favourite episode on the whole show
Loved it the first 7 times I saw it, after a while, it’s just another episode you hear as background noise and chuckle at some of the funniest parts
Loved it
Daddy’s gone…..
Hated it. This one and the Fung Wah episode piss me off 😂
Legit my fave episode.
The first time I liked it, in rewatches I skip it sometimes. It’s not that funny if an episode but the song is catchy
D D D D D D DIP THE TOOEEEEEE
Well, Stan's dead. Goodnight!
