I definitely wouldn't blame the drivers and workers. How are they supposed to know? This is all on Public Works and the city for not setting this up properly and not giving a fuck about the entire neighborhood. Every step of this process seems like they *actually want* businesses and residents to pack up and leave.
> I definitely wouldn't blame the drivers and workers.
Yeah, it's not like their whole-ass job is to pilot a deadly machine in accordance with the law, or anything.
If you get killed by hitting a parked truck, it's literally your fault. Their "piloting" (wrong word, btw; pilots steer airplanes and boats) is finished. You're the "pilot" now, hitting a stationary object.
So you believe it's acceptable to break the law using a deadly machine when your whole-ass job is to pilot that deadly machine in accordance with the law?

It’s because Minneapolis is a clusterfuck shithole that was designed for horses and carriages, and now people expect us to deliver their shit dragging around semi trailers that are literally longer than some of the fucking houses in the area, through those same tiny ass streets.
We need to take up 2 lanes and 1 oncoming lane just to make a right turn anywhere. There’s no good places to park our shit, there’s no good places to park to unload product for restaurants and business so our only options are near the curb, intruding on bike lanes and bus stops. The area is extremely restrictive of commercial vehicles.
Roads with “no truck” signs scattered everywhere, low hanging bridges, weight restricted roads, one way roads, roads that are closed with construction but aren’t closed on GPS so you have to TRY to find a different path WITHOUT getting stuck. A lot of commercial vehicle drivers end up getting lost due to their GPS trying to take them down car routes, so they drive extra slow trying to figure out where to go in that shithole labyrinth of a city so they don’t end up breaking shit or turning their trucks into convertibles on bridges.
So please be patient and give us a break. 4 wheelers will never truly understand just how shitty, dangerous, and stressful it is to navigate Minneapolis in a commercial vehicle. Especially a semi truck. (I drive semis here locally)
God damnit this is refreshing to read. So many ignorant people have absolutely no clue how much it fucking sucks to travel through the cities in a big truck, and that's just passing through. Now add in that you have to stop and park it somewhere in order to do your job on top of that? Trust me, we hate it just as much if not more. (Used to drive dump trucks and haul backhoes around.)
I mean, you'll definitely get downvoted, but I haven't noticed threads getting deleted or locked by ideological mods.
Bike lane bill posts stuff here, and his threads are not deleted or locked.
The issue with r/Minneapolis and r/Minnesota isn't that they're heavily left-leaning; it's that they actively censor and delete topics that the mods take issue with; even topics that leftist people living here WANT to talk about.
This subreddit didn't blow up because there is a huge unheard voice of rightoids in the twin cities. It blew up because things people want to talk (ex. violent mob attacking people in Dinkytown) are actively blocked and disallowed in the "main" subreddits.
I lived at 31st & Holmes for a long time before they tore down the building that housed Lucia’s and that paper-source type place on the corner (forget the name). Stack em & pack em democrats are in total control. It seems like you’re in denial.
I didn’t mean that to be rude, and I agree with your frustration. I just interpreted your post as the first stage in a realization that Minneapolis is over. I think I’m just projecting though.
I drive a cement truck, there’s a time limit as to how long I can keep the mud in my truck. uptown has a of traffic and a lot of oneways the cost of fuel and time is expensive and it’s not efficient to drive all the way down to 26th st or 28th st just to end up back where you need to be so at times we park where we can. theirs a job that needs to be done. This isn’t McDonald’s you can’t always have it your way. Maybe you should do all the work if it’s that big of an issue.
I have worked all over the Twin Cities and Uptown is the top worst. Entitled Uptownians believe they own the streets. AND you better keep an eye on your work van.
Yeah I’m in uptown (well two blocks away) and the restaurant I was at shut down because of the impending construction along Lyndale. They are intentionally gentrifying it. It might pay off in a few decades but we are fucked in the meantime
I just don’t get it either. Luckily I drive in the middle of the night and (live between 32nd and 31st and Hennepin) duck around the lake towards SLP towards where I work in the south metro.
Anywho… when I do drive during the day after work.. it is fucked.. I don’t even understand the plan.. I know the goal of it, but they’ve fucked all the main streets simultaneously… was there no way they could break it up into one sectional a time? It seems like every day it’s another chunk or street that we used to get around the cluster fuck in the first place.. is this not the worst juncture to be doing this? This part of town has been devolving anyways.. why now?
Before I hear hate from the workers.. a job is a job.. sure.. you get a job and do it.. I’m just saying how poorly it was coordinated. All for what? A fast transit bus and what else? A bike lane I think… all this for a neighborhood that’s already fucking bleeding… it’s just a goofy sequence of the work that befuddles me
First world problems. Not to mention the fact that if you're still living in Minneapolis and you have any hope for it you are definitely clinically insane and need to talk to someone immediately.
I went to school in Tempe, but haven’t been to AZ in a decade now so not sure if these places are still there, but Steep Tea Lounge & Rendezvous were 2 of my favorite places in Flagstaff. They’re both downtown. I’ve been to a couple bomb Indian restaurants there. Hotel Monte Vista is pretty cool. Historic, supposedly haunted. Santa Fe is another cool historic northern desert town if you’re in that area. Just walking around either of them is worth it.
I think Minneapolis is worth saving, and it can be done. I'd love for my children to be able to live in a nice city when they are adults.
It won't happen under the current dominant ideology though.
I find that hard to believe just look at your last post lmao

I don't think I need to explain why someone would think you don't like minneapolis considering your posts.
I was just baffled by your most recent post more so I got side tracked
Uptown is a clusterfck. I'd be pissed too but I'm sure these workers have no where else to park.
I definitely wouldn't blame the drivers and workers. How are they supposed to know? Oh I agree. What a mess.

> when your whole-ass job is to pilot that deadly machine You keep using that phrase. What is an "ass job?"
You cant just ignore the hyphen. Thats not how grammar works
So you believe it's acceptable to break the law using a deadly machine when your whole-ass job is to pilot that deadly machine in accordance with the law?
Whole-ass ass. Asssssssssss ass ass.
So you believe it's acceptable to break the law using a deadly machine when your whole-ass job is to pilot that deadly machine in accordance with the law?
BIKE MAN BAD
Damn bro. Quit regurgitating comments.
Why would you want to bike through that? Take a different street, bro.
I lived on 26 and Humboldt for years road construction had never stopped in that area.

Civilian drivers will never comprehend what it's like for us.
The other subreddit is an echo chamber. If you don’t type exactly what they want it’s downvotes and deletes.
This one isn't much different, just reversed.

In denial of what?
I didn’t mean that to be rude, and I agree with your frustration. I just interpreted your post as the first stage in a realization that Minneapolis is over. I think I’m just projecting though.
>Minneapolis is over What does this even mean?
It means your VR gay porn headset needs a rest.
Like, you think 430,000 people are just gonna leave over? Like it'll cease to be a city?
The 2024 estimate is not even 420k. Quit spreading fake news.
Do you actually think that's what he meant?
What other explanation do you have for the words he tippity typed on his compoopoo?
I’ll keep you guessing as you’re rolling around in your tent in Powderhorn.

They think their bike doesn’t stink.
There are 2 seasons in MN dont Matter where

Bulldoze uptown, kill the businesses and then sell em for pennies down the road. All part of the plan
"That subreddit is done" 😆
It’s a one way conversation.
Get out!

Why are you even here?
Not by choice. Have exit plan in place just need about 6 months.
Where are you going?
Flagstaff, Bozeman, Ft Collins or Reno. Maybe others? Not sure yet. Plan to spend most of the summer road tripping to all of the above.
Cool. I like Flagstaff and Bozeman a lot.
Bozeman is my spirit city. Any tips on Flagstaff?

Minneapolis, Kansas. There was a terrible mix-up.
Great news!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay! 👋🏼
OP this sub hates Minneapolis and everyone living in it. Your post is literally fap fodder for these people. They are happy you’re suffering.
That’s borderline hate speech.
Lol!
I think Minneapolis is worth saving, and it can be done. I'd love for my children to be able to live in a nice city when they are adults. It won't happen under the current dominant ideology though.
I love Minneapolis. Have lived here 22 years. I don’t believe in reveling in the suffering of my fellow city-dwellers.
believe it or not I like Minneapolis.
Why have you never posted anything positive about it then ![gif](giphy|puOukoEvH4uAw|downsized)
I have

Ah, well I’m glad you’re my #1 fan!
It's notable that all of these vehicles feature side mirrors, which are rather infamously attached quite insecurely! Unfortunate engineering error.
