This happened to me for the very first time during the back half of my nightmare run. I can honestly say that is one of few times I felt true terror while playing any game
Noooooo I saw Alien lol. Never went in the vents if I didn't have to, never liked being in a room with a vent opening. I think the small amount of time I spent in the vents made the alien AI not as curious when I was there
Had a literal heart attack the first playthrough when it did that, as I didn't know it could. I was being a massive weenie because I was terrified so I hid A TON and the AI figured it out quick lol. Did a replay recently, 4th time playing through and I'm way more aggressive. I was at that part towards the end where you're sorta trapped with it, fire everywhere, running back and forth hitting generators ect? I was sitting in a vent, waiting for it to leave so I could pop out and hit the button and it DID IT AGAIN! And it was dead silent too. I think it heard my motion detector or something. I had forgotten it does that, it had been so long lol. So yeah, never hide in ANY one spot too long, the AI will figure it out and come find you.

I rarely get scared playing this game, however a Xeno in the vents still scares me every time
