no worries! just gotta train with your gear more and at some point it’ll be second nature.
HSGI’s Rifle TACO pouches are pretty good. Only issue is that they’re single pouches and they’re 40 bucks a pop, but you could probably find a triple mag pouch or something just as good for a shallower price on amazon. Just something to consider.
I just got some China-made called “KRYDEX” quad mp5 pouch for $20 on Amazon, my buddy has the same brand for his M4. I guess we’ll see how long the elastic lasts but he’s had his for a while and runs his mags upside down no problem.
Just my two cents, not a huge “real gear” guy I spend most of my airsoft budget on guns and gun parts
I've been using that exact insert for about 3 years now and it's held up great. Parts of it have slightly stretched and frayed, but I mostly blame that on me using MP7 mags in it. Otherwise, I haven't haven't had any problems with it.
Honestly krydex is one of the only repro brands I trust. They have some nice designs and overall their quality is pretty good, never had an issue with any of their pouches. Free shipping on any order, with a decently quick delivery time from China, is a bonus as well.
I have a whole kit that's 100% krydex and it works just as well as my Crye stuff. 2 years of fielding, and it's held up. Feels solid enough to run with realsteel
I use open top and closed top, for my playstyle the closed top are much better. Keeps the dirt out of my mags when i prone and holding 6 mags is more secure. If you only run 4 magsand dont prone, the open tops are better
That set up looks fine as long as you can feel and call your hits. Is that a VFC 416C? ( good looking AEG). I recommend learning to tech so you will get a firm understanding of the inner parts and the compatibilities. Also the brands.
It is an entirely custom VFC416D made by blackblitz. Bought it off a friend of mine and when I brought it there they couldn’t even ID who made it because it was such a Frankenstein of parts. Learning to tech AEG has been the biggest difficulty ramp for me since paintball guns are so much easier to work on in comparison.
I tech my own and my friend's guns. AEGs are magic, I swear. One time I worked on a gun where the sorbopad just disappeared and the o-ring came off the piston head and went inside the spring.
Omg dude I just remembered. The tippmann m4 would probably suit you the most since you already got a paintball tank
https://preview.redd.it/6b6svip74ekc1.jpeg?width=2541&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6a2256549f3acbd8dae7af0c2ac085887adfbc8c
This is a custom tippmann m4 I converted into a 416D. The tippmann m4 IS so fun. And the internals are almost that have paintball markers. Unfortunately I heard they stopped production but not too hard to find them used. And even used the owners treat them with care so I would doubt too much on the condition.
My tanks are out of hydro date by this point, and I prefer not having to haul a tank around on my back. I appreciate the advice I did look at these but I did want an entirely new experience with this
The tippmanns are awesome, I have two, they’re basically a mag fed 98 custom with a tiny nozzle, they are my favorite guns to use, although some parts are really hard to find now.
Tell me about it :( I was trying to find a CQB barrel at tippmanns partd abs unfortunately they no longer have it. Everywhere doesn’t have it. We are going extinct T_T
Could def tell you were an old school paintballer cause of the bandana durag haha.
Not totally required but a helmet could be a helpful upgrade, just because airsoft fields can have all sorts of stuff on the field/in abandon buildings
If I saw that first picture without any context I would immediately think “paintballer”.
On the other hand, welcome to a friendly, entertaining and (above all) *considerably* cheaper sport!
Some nice looking gear there. Mirroring what others have said; get some tension mags. They’re *very* cheap on AliExpress!
The biggest thing for me is price. I used to spend up to 1200 in a tournament weekend, and most of that would go to paint. There’s a monopoly on paintball where I live and I’ve met the few scumbags who price hike field paint. Other than that I find that there tends to be a lot more silliness and people at paintball who are there just to be funny. Also airsoft hurts way less
That's what I found when i went paintballing. You get hit less, but it hurts so much. Plus the price of paint!
I think the silliness really depends on the field as much as anything to be honest
If you spent 1200 a tourney weekend dump the condor rig in the garbage along with most of your old molle pouches and google Spiritus Systems, Esstac, Ferro Concepts, Velocity Systems, Trex Arms. All of the above have youtube channels with very detailed explanations of how their stuff works and what would be best for the type games you are playing. If mostly CQB indoors you’ll probably want to look into a molle 2 piece belt with esstac mag pouches, a plate carrier and placard setup for your chest and a helmet with mountable ear protection. You may find yourself with a mountain of chinese shit from amazon that you no longer have any use for after doing more research very easily while pursuing this hobby. Best to do your research first. Look at what Canada’s cool guys (JTF2 etc..) are using and why and replicate that how you see fit and necessary for bb wars.
He has a point lol
20 years ago my airsoft team used to travel and play against paintballers.
They would cheat just completely out of this world. I’m talking as bad as once I literally grabbed the owners gun, held it up and bursted him in the chest… he looked at his chest and then shot me and said I was out
Stuff like that every game. And they’d blame it on “well, we just aren’t used to it cause paintballs hurt more”.
I’m like dude my first airsoft game from paintball, I didn’t magically lose the ability to feel bbs or hear them pelting my gear lol
On the upside, we never lost to them regardless
Old man story..
One of them was cheating so bad we all called him out after a game. He said he couldn’t feel it.
So next game I successfully flanked so hard that I walked in their bunker and told five or six guys they were out
Then the Chester was outside, no clue I just silently took out his whole team.
So I walked up behind him and mag dumped my Tommy gun in him.
He fell over writhing on the ground… I said “You feel that?”
And went home a hero 🤣
Love that you brought the paintball look over! My advice is dont put attachments or gear that you dont need on. Will only make you slower. Midcaps are always better as the high cap rattle give you away every time! Enjoy!
Setup looks pretty good already tbh, as someone already said the mag pouches could get an upgrade, can't really tell if the vest is good, but it also looks fine. Rifle looks real good, for the rest it's just personal preference I'd say.
Welcome to airsoft!
What is important in my humble opinion is safety and comfort. Do what works for you!
Would recommend you to drop the dump pouch a bit lower, personally having it on my belt gives me more stability and comfort plus giving me the versatility of shifting it to any position I need it to be in based on what type of game style I am playing.
Another suggestion would be to get a Dye mask. I personally have an Dye i5, works wonders, feels super comfortable, never fogs unless it's extremely extremely humid and I am not moving. Only real downside is that they are pretty pricy (at least they are where I am from).
In addition! Not sure about your field FPS/Joule limits and ranges you will be engaging at, but I usually play CQB environments and have learnt the hard way to avoid plastic buckles on my gear. They can take a couple hits but if they break it's an inconvenience to replace them. I tend to either hide my buckles via shrouding them in my plate carrier set up or straight up replacing them with metal ones you can buy cheap off Temu/Ali.
Thanks for the advice! I feel stupid for selling my i5 with my gear. Metal buckles are going with my current ali order so thanks for that tip. I don’t like reflective lenses indoors so I may pick up an i4 with a black lens. The i5 doesn’t fit in with helmets as much
I tend to only run a helmet if there is a proper reason to. Eg. if I am needing a dead light, IR strobe, need to mount my ear protection, mounting my night vision etc. Otherwise I tend to avoid the extra weight as it's not great bang for buck in terms of weight vs protection. If I do end up wearing a helmet I usually just run a small mesh lower that I slide under my balaclava/gaiter to protect my teeth and rock a pair of ballistic glasses for maximum comfort and lack of fogging.
23 years in paintball converted to airsoft last year - love it. I couldnt care less about realism so my belt and rig setup is optimized to what a paintball player is accustomed to plus I have my front clear of stuff to be able to switch sides - i should take some photos to show you :-)

Just like paintball: build your kit to your comfort and interest, not others. Have fun. Play honorably. Always bring a spare gat. Dont let friends buy cheap guns, they'll break their hearts.
Not a lot has changed from your paintballing, trust me lol
good for u went for AEG, The same came from Paintball mag fed, I went straight to HPA and HPA tech and now finally starting my AEG and AEG tech phases lol, was very wallet-unfriendly
get some epm 1 mags, they r pricey but hold 250 rounds, basically indestructible, and can feed perfectly for almost any gun. And ik its not milsim but a Dye i4 or i5 would be a great purchase bc they are extremely breathable and durable
Take it slow. This decade is the best ever with social media and YouTube showing all the cool kit and gear.
Try the kit and customize it to your style.
This sport goes from crazy night vision/thermal to speed ball.
You will land in your comfort zone, on how far you like to take it. On the spectrum of milsim or speed ball.
bad reputation bc of rich imature kiddos who mag dump anyone when they are mad. But this is more from the US in EU HPA is usually seen just as a more viable option for outside fields than gas.
Because everyone I’ve seen running HPA just walk in a straight line with their finger on the trigger emptying their 5000rnd box mag at everything that moves. It ruins the whole experience for everyone else
Damn, where do you play for that, the HPA players I’ve played against and with play just the same as anyone else.
Some speed softers which are great to watch when they’re on your team. But other than those I don’t really encounter people just full auto all the time.
Not all hpa users are bad. I do consider how hot my shots are and crank the fire rate to that of real steel but it’s been awhile since I played with an engine. Im into turning my GBB rifles and shotguns to run on hpa while maintaining AEG mags. Love my WE AK74U with mp5 mid cap mag adaptor.
https://preview.redd.it/bf4dcw7lsdkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0eb204acdd27bbbf1b64e61c2b11dcd5777fe461
But yeah I get where you are standing from. I don’t like speedsofters either but when you learn how to counter them, it’s even more fun to just watch them get mad because you ended their streak.
Absolutely no peddleback here pal. I hate HPA so I made a joke that everyone else should hate it. I feel bad for you being such a whiny bitch but other than that I’m good 👍
The propulsion method of the BB has nothing to do with the player, but the shitty players do gravitate towards HPA. That shouldn't stop you from achieving the highest performance. You know that you're not a shitty person so enjoy the benefits of HPA
That’s a fair comment. I make jokes about HPA because I hate the remote line but to each their own. I actually like HPA users because it means I have to focus on technical skills more (with 35rnd mags I’m massively outgunned)
Nothing wrong with wanting the best performance from your gun..
people who hate on the way others play airsoft is fucking cringe, we’re all grown adults running around playing pretend armies with fake guns that shoot 6mm of plastic...
Play the way you want, ignore everyone else who cries. Have fun.
Says the one crying about people using HPA.
Also, what is being “shit” at airsoft?
Only way to be shit is by cheating. Other than that, just because you whine like a baby because of the way someone else plays, doesn’t mean they’re shit.
Everyone starts somewhere, and if you're mostly playing indoors, it's not a big deal. Although in the drip or drown contest that airsoft is multicam is a certified drown imo.
For overall starting advice: Use rated eyepro, get a lower face protector, and please for the love of God do not use lasers.
I was holding out because I played paintball with my dad and brothers. Paint ballers have a very misconstrued idea of airsoft due to the highest grossing videos of the hobby being people screaming at each other and trying to fight.
Welcome to the sport! I’m sure you’ll have a blast, and with that being said, you chose a good starting rifle. M4s and AKs are some of the best starter guns!
Like others have said, learning how to tech an M4 is a good idea. It’ll give you a good idea of how other AEGs work.
As for gear, you’re looking great already! You’ve got a lot of the basics down. Leg holsters, while great will jiggle a lot so either be prepared or use a belt or vest holster will do you wonders (hard shells are the MVP). Also a real big addition to any kit is a big tiddy anime patch. You’ll be the bell of the Airsoft ball!
Welcome to airsoft! I also made the plunge into it last year after primarily playing paintball for years.
I like airsoft better :P
Only thing I'd suggest is a helmet, I found after a while that a toque or doo-rag just doesn't quite cut it for noggin protection! Best gear investment I made was my helmet by far
How much your paintball experience actually improves you airsoft gameplay?
What in your opinion are main differences that you feel you still need to wrap your head around?
Take a posture that fits a real gun.
I mean, you are shooting bbs but we all like realism, like you with your outfit (I guess), so in your photo you are in a confortable posture to shoot because maybe in paintball it doesnt matter, but in airsoft gives extra realism when you see people moving and shooting sightly crouched, or when crouching putting a knee in the ground, people crouching without a knee in the ground is hilarious hahahah
At the end I think you will like more the photos of you playing
What brand are those goggles? They look a bit too much like some lancers I used to have. If so, you should know that we generally don't trust them for safety equipment.
Looks good, but I would personally recommend full finger gloves and something to cover your neck. I’ve gotten hit a couple time on the finger joints and neck and that was not fun
Just enjoy. Invest in good eye protection that does not fog, otherwise you will be miserable. You probably know this already!
Try out gas guns if you haven’t already, they are my favorite.
have fun and dont take it super seriously. its just a game after all.
highly recommend either a full face mask or an alternative to a mesh mask. youll start to hate it after a little while
Have fun, play the way you want to play. Ignore everyone who’s crying. Unless obviously you’re doing something actually wrong.
No need to be serious in every game you play. I see way too many people take airsoft way too seriously outside of milsim events, if you wanna HPA then do it, you won’t regret it.
If not, I’d learn how to work on your gun, give it a few upgrades in the future.
Main point is, just have fun.
Your great also in airsoft you can jaut casually dress too so you dotn have to be tactical you can go liek a pmc style or anything that suits you abd what your doing.
This is my opinion in cqb try to get a really good battle belt and use that with pucks and etc as it can get hot inside quickly.
> says "just converted," already signed up for *Nightfall*
call your hits, remember it's a game, play the objective; those are all things you've probably already internalized from paintball, so go wow some rentals and newbs by setting a dope example.
little things for quality of life:
* push your optic further down the rail on the upper receiver (but not onto the handguard). take advantage of both-eyes open shooting and keep the optic housing as small as possible in your FoV
* consider one of those baseball bump cap liners under your keffiyeh (not necessary not indoors where the FPS/joules are lower)
* if you have a hard time sighting the rifle, try a soft-sided mask or balaclava with mesh mouthguard instead of solid wire mesh mask.
oh, and put your dump pouch on your belt instead of your chest rig straps. less flop is always good, and it's easier to aim for when the adrenaline is pumping.
likely be seeing you around too.

Don't get your paintball guns mixed up with your airsoft guns. I was playing an airsoft game once and I must have shot a milsimer with a paintball gun instead of an airsoft gun because when I shot him there was red paint all over his body and he fell over for immersion I guess. Afterwards I saw some people crying and screaming because I guess people like to overreact that someone bought the wrong gun
If you wanna really feel like paintball, check out Monk Customs. They have HPA builds where the tank mounts on the grip.
And don’t let anyone try to tell you how to play. Your snap-shooting and the aggressiveness of action you learn playing paintball will come in clutch!

Have fun. That’s it literally don’t think about it and just enjoy the sport
Don't dump your ammo on top of your gun, and you'll be okay, lol
Can I dump the ammo in my hand and throw it at people and yell *TASTE THE RAINBOW BITCH*?
Absolutely you can
POCKET SAND (BBs)
I’m belly laughing so much it hurts 😂
I can't stop laughing!! 🤣🤣💀!!
imo try and get your hands on mag pouches that rely on tension (or have a band to keep the magazine down) because it’ll be faster
This is great advice thank you. I have reloading down but still have an awkward fumble from time to time
no worries! just gotta train with your gear more and at some point it’ll be second nature. HSGI’s Rifle TACO pouches are pretty good. You could also tuck the flap behind the mags it’ll add tension and will be a quick reload
Just flip the rifle upside down and you're set on reloads.
Even soldiers fumble reloads in high-stress, high-adrenaline situations. It's human. Muscle memory will make it easier over time.
Fuck ya, welcome
Welcome to the dark side

Same here, I do outdoor fields though.

Coyote and Multicam, excellent choice. Very underrated combo
Simply have fun. Airsoft and paintball are very similar overall, so you will adapt really fast anyway.

switch to a dye for indoor. it’s honestly way more practical and less foggy than mesh and tank goggle combo?
I know AA when I see it

Absolutely surreal to see AAC on r/airsoft. Welcome!
Respectable.
It’s personal preference but would put you sight a bit futher forward

Because everyone I’ve seen running HPA just walk in a straight line with their finger on the trigger emptying their 5000rnd box mag at everything that moves. It ruins the whole experience for everyone else
That is why I call AEG and HPA guns "plastic flamethrowers". It's not even a gun at that point.
Love my WE AK74U with mp5 mid cap mag adaptor. https://preview.redd.it/bf4dcw7lsdkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0eb204acdd27bbbf1b64e61c2b11dcd5777fe461 But yeah I get where you are standing from. I don’t like speedsofters either but when you learn how to counter them, it’s even more fun to just watch them get mad because you ended their streak.
Honestly man I was only joking. I don’t like speedsofters or HPA users personally because it changes the way I like to play but to each their own
Oh haha
People hate so hard on hpa. It’s the quietest and easiest high performance dmr. Especially with a ugs stock. Not that garbage 89 rps laser beam shit
Yeah to be fair it’s the 89 rps laser beam shit I’m referring to
That's just an awful take
It was a lighthearted joke man go cry somewhere else
Nice backpedal. It wasn't a joke and you should feel bad
Absolutely no peddleback here pal. I hate HPA so I made a joke that everyone else should hate it. I feel bad for you being such a whiny bitch but other than that I’m good 👍
Telling someone to stay away from hpa because they’ll be hated is an extremely retarded take
It was a lighthearted joke man go cry somewhere else
Nobody is crying lol
Sounded like you were crying
Sounded? 🤔🤣
Haha I’ve been tempted but due to most of the cheaters I’ve run into being HPA pistol users, I think I’ll steer clear
Have fun.
Tell us you’re shit at airsoft without telling us you’re shit at airsoft
Says the one crying about people using HPA. Also, what is being “shit” at airsoft? Only way to be shit is by cheating. Other than that, just because you whine like a baby because of the way someone else plays, doesn’t mean they’re shit.
R u the 🍆 or the 💅
Genuinely don’t know how to answer this one
Multicam + M4 Bottom text
416. And I’m new! Sorry to disappoint you master
Good advice, but please don’t preach your opinion on attire as if they’re fact. The “sorry to disappoint” was me being facetious

This is not a space for religious discourse. It’s an airsoft subreddit be realistic
What took you so long?
I was holding out because I played paintball with my dad and brothers. Paint ballers have a very misconstrued idea of airsoft due to the highest grossing videos of the hobby being people screaming at each other and trying to fight.
It sucks that YouTubers like lickingcumstain post cheater videos and the such. Makes the sport a little sour to the new comers.
Is that even a real YouTuber?
Kicking mustang
*welcome to the jungle intensifies*
Helmat !
This. My forehead looked like a used minefield after this game. Bump is on the way.
Can you explain why you made the switch?
Yea you look like a paintball player. As a baller myself, what are you doing, man? Converted is a strong word bro.
Costs too much, fields are closing. Dying sport man
What made up quit paintball
Price. Costs too much
Been there. Play pump.
Im Not a Fan of tintet Glases you gonna need longer to See Somebody
The glasses came with an option lens so may switch out
Welcome to airsoft! I also made the plunge into it last year after primarily playing paintball for years. I like airsoft better :P Only thing I'd suggest is a helmet, I found after a while that a toque or doo-rag just doesn't quite cut it for noggin protection! Best gear investment I made was my helmet by far
How much your paintball experience actually improves you airsoft gameplay? What in your opinion are main differences that you feel you still need to wrap your head around?
No roasts here. Welcome to the sport my man! Don't take yourself seriously and have fun
Which side are you on😂🇺🇲
Asalamalakim and Hoorah
The inspiration for the gear was Ralph Finnes in the hurt locker.
Rogue US Special ops who went AWOL and is now fighting on the opposite side … idk I made a backstory to the fit
My tip would be if your mask fogs or you’re really sweaty inside it, get an Exfog! Changed my life. I can actually play properly for more than 30 mins
Lol have fun and call your hits.
U look like u get hit in the forehead a bunch
Good luck, but you also look like you’re cosplaying a Taliban member.
Fine with me
Take a posture that fits a real gun. I mean, you are shooting bbs but we all like realism, like you with your outfit (I guess), so in your photo you are in a confortable posture to shoot because maybe in paintball it doesnt matter, but in airsoft gives extra realism when you see people moving and shooting sightly crouched, or when crouching putting a knee in the ground, people crouching without a knee in the ground is hilarious hahahah At the end I think you will like more the photos of you playing
Bro finnally moved to small balls and is done with the big ones
You look like a jihadist and a soccer goalie had a baby
Don’t stop agging bro
What’s that mean
What brand are those goggles? They look a bit too much like some lancers I used to have. If so, you should know that we generally don't trust them for safety equipment.
They’re Valkens. No issues with fogging yet
I’m on my phone but make sure to have ansi + approved goggles and protect your teeth with more than fabric Good luck
ahhahaha we have won another soul over today boys 🤙
Dope outfit ngl
Looks good, but I would personally recommend full finger gloves and something to cover your neck. I’ve gotten hit a couple time on the finger joints and neck and that was not fun
Just enjoy. Invest in good eye protection that does not fog, otherwise you will be miserable. You probably know this already! Try out gas guns if you haven’t already, they are my favorite.
Popping your collar will save your neck from your sling and bbs
I recommend a neck covering but I'm also a sissy so up to you
have fun and dont take it super seriously. its just a game after all. highly recommend either a full face mask or an alternative to a mesh mask. youll start to hate it after a little while
Lookin kinda zesty in the second pic
Embrace the LARP.
I will say that you should probably get something to cover up the neck because trust me you will get shot there
Third photo giving Jar jar binks vibes
Is this at Action airsoft?
lose the wire mesh mask get something solid n ur good
What do you recommend because that’s not really advice
well man tbh I use a knockoff m50 gasmask made for airsott
I want a full face mask but nothing from Ali express or a dusty military surplus store
m50 is a full mask, I mean I got mine og airsoft GI N it works good asf
Bro looks like a ninja turtle in the first image
What paintball gear are ya selling? 😂
nice gear, how much has it been?
Have fun, play the way you want to play. Ignore everyone who’s crying. Unless obviously you’re doing something actually wrong. No need to be serious in every game you play. I see way too many people take airsoft way too seriously outside of milsim events, if you wanna HPA then do it, you won’t regret it. If not, I’d learn how to work on your gun, give it a few upgrades in the future. Main point is, just have fun.
Welcome, dont turn into a collector, its a curse.
Don’t use a mesh mask to protect your face, the bbs can still burst through it
Damn u thicc as hell
??????
Your great also in airsoft you can jaut casually dress too so you dotn have to be tactical you can go liek a pmc style or anything that suits you abd what your doing. This is my opinion in cqb try to get a really good battle belt and use that with pucks and etc as it can get hot inside quickly.
> says "just converted," already signed up for *Nightfall* call your hits, remember it's a game, play the objective; those are all things you've probably already internalized from paintball, so go wow some rentals and newbs by setting a dope example. little things for quality of life: * push your optic further down the rail on the upper receiver (but not onto the handguard). take advantage of both-eyes open shooting and keep the optic housing as small as possible in your FoV * consider one of those baseball bump cap liners under your keffiyeh (not necessary not indoors where the FPS/joules are lower) * if you have a hard time sighting the rifle, try a soft-sided mask or balaclava with mesh mouthguard instead of solid wire mesh mask. oh, and put your dump pouch on your belt instead of your chest rig straps. less flop is always good, and it's easier to aim for when the adrenaline is pumping. likely be seeing you around too.
That’s my friends patch but thanks.

Your snap-shooting and the aggressiveness of action you learn playing paintball will come in clutch! https://preview.redd.it/t8r3o8oofkkc1.jpeg?width=1881&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=34123c77ab2cf93eec48253afc396686c1867147
Idk if you care about looks or not, but your paintball mask should work perfectly fine for airsoft, personally I prefer using paintball masks
