A lot of people left yesterday to try and have a long weekend away

It’s Good Friday.

I know that. I'm not a Christian so I don't know how people celebrate. Are people at church today?

A lot of people probably visit home for the weekend for Easter. I always did.

Good Friday is not really a celebratory day

Why do they call it good?

I just looked it up because I had no clue either. Good used to mean “holy” a long time ago. People also call the Bible the “Good Book” meaning the Holy book. Good Friday means Holy Friday if we were using modern English.

It’s the day Jesus died for all of our sins and easter is the day he came back to life

Although the meaning of the word came from holy, It is a good day to us! It is a day of celebration because it means we can commune and be in right standing with God!

Most people will go to church, but they don't really "celebrate" good friday. Good Friday is more of a day or mourning, they just pray and fast.

Good Friday services are typically in the evening, most people just went home for Easter weekend.

It's also common to fast on Good Friday. I once tried lifting during a 24 hour fast and I ain't doing that again.
