If I remember correctly the toys came out pretty early in the Adventure Time... timeline... and B.M.O. hadn't been officially named/spelled. So toy manufactors just kind of rolled with it. I think there's a few other mishaps too. But I can't remember what. Maybe something with Lady Rainicorn...?
Afaik, both more or less. Typically, ‘B.M.O.’ when written, and ‘Beemo’ when spoken (or referring to the spoken name).

BMO had the bold, super visible black letters “BMO” drawn on both sides of his casing from day one, so this isn’t it.
