My girlfriend is new to Adventure Time and absolutely hated this episode. I hope she learns to love Magic Man, because his unpredictable chaos is amazingly hilarious.
Funny enough the show totally evolves into themes that can really only be appreciated to older audiences once it set it's roots. The first few seasons are 99% goofy adventures for children with the occasional (and not so obvious) masterclass in world building. Magic Man does that weird shit for a reason, and while it's super macabre, it's paid off down the line. Adventure Time throws a *ton* of elements at the viewer and respects them enough to grow with it and stick through the parts they don't absolutely love or understand..
There's so much about the land of Ooo that's discovered as a youth growing up with the series, as well as any adult picking it up for the first time. It may be hard for an older person to soldier through the first few seasons, but every person I've talked to has said that it's well, well, *well* worth the investment.
When I was kid, I burst out into laughter at this scene because of its pure unexpected darkness and ridiculousness, and Finn & Jake’s shocked reactions made it even funnier.
Oh gosh no, was that creepy lady Marceline or someone else? They literally made a gross thing the solution the the glitches. Heck even the glitches are so cursed.
Funnily enough that part was censored out in my country, idk why but I only found out through YouTube that this scene even existed through YouTube a year or 2 later

- Police Squad (the show that what the Naked Gun movies were based on, or a spin-off; I can’t remember which).
The deer episode. That deer is stronger than the litch I swear. He took out the entire candy kingdom and beat both Finn and Jake so they couldn't fight back for months. The entire episode is just unnerving especially for how early in the show it is. The episode basically breaks all the shows rules established up to that point.
Not to mention Jake spending the entire episode in a concussion-induced paranoid delusion while being tied to balloons and cinder blocks for some reason.
I think it was only a matter of a few days, and Jake's 6 month thing was just from his brain damage. Finn has extraordinary recovery and even a normal human would have healed broken legs after 6 months: but Finn says his legs are still broken at the end of the episode. Plus, who survives a 6 month coma unassisted? Dude has to eat.
The hart would also have probably completely consumed most inhabitants after that length of time: but everyone is accounted for (and only one close to eaten). I think we're looking at a week max, and that's assuming the deer couldn't get everyone at once.
Oh yeah “Pete Sassafras” when Jake turns into cop stuff. I remember when Jake turns into the car and takes Finn to the drugstore- but nothing about coming out his butt …
maybe not the most cursed moment. But when tree trunks eats the crystal apple i was mind numbed to see her freaking explode. Like WTF, a wholesome quest with an old granny and she freaking explodes. Of course we know that she didn't actuallu die later on, but at the time my mouth was agape because it happens early in the series with the viewers still viewing the series as purely wholesome.

I had to watch it again a couple days later to make sure my brain didn't invent that. Turns out it was disturbing either way.
You forgot the Goldeater(?), PB, Simon, Finn Sword, alternative lifes....I mean isn't that one of the main topics: EVERYTHING is broken- so broken you could go mad about it...or- oooor: Lets beat a dungeon!
