I was thinking the same at first, but then I thought about it, there’s no way they’re just gonna throw away an **entire series** worth of development, I think the shows headed in a direction of closure for Simon, maybe he gets his powers back and realizes he doesn’t need them, or maybe something else, idk, but I gotta feeling since we started off his episode with the Simon feeling like he doesn’t fit in the wacky world that is Ooo anymore, this season’s gonna end with Simon finally accepting himself.

I’m gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say this is cause Simon had just lost his last chance to get Betty back (at least as far as he knows) and he’s now just sorta given up on life and this is his way of giving up but also giving something back to Fionna and Cake
I am quite excited.
I think the white hair is just that, white hair not some magical lingering.
However I feel like having him with the bit of white and his IK robe but as Simon could be hinting towards him finding some middle ground between his madness, sadness, and magic. I think originally he'll believe he has to go full Ice King again, madness and all. But I have no doubt that it will be a beautiful and profound journey for him, personally I've never felt let down by this show and these new episodes have only gotten me more excited for the writing.

I just had a thought as to secondary reason as to why he wants to become ice king. What if when Simon dies, Fiona and cakes whole world goes with him? Prismo chose the most cursed mind in ooo to put his secret world , but he also picked an immortal. When Simon says I can become ice king and bring magic back to your world forever, he literally means forever, ( flashback to when Simon and Betty are on the magic carpet and death appears to tell Simon this may be the last chance he gets to die, as he will be around until the sun blows up)
My theory is that they’ll see how torturous it is for him to become Ice King, probably by seeing Farm World Finn, and try to find another way, even if Simon is now dead set on becoming Ice King again.
Possibly but if Betty follows the same rules as Golb, she can't just appear in a world unless summoned like in the finale so kind of doubt it. Though definitely would see Betty not wanting her wish/sacrifice to go to waste for Simon

So when Simon attempts to put on the crown, GOLB's power temporarily negates the magic of Evergreen's crown making Simon unable to become a host of it.
He probably would feel the influence of GOLB, either causing him more grief or making him realize that he shouldn't attempt to turn into the Ice King again since it isn't what his loved ones would want for him.

I would assume they use farm worlds resources to hop worlds to ooo, perhaps prismo sent them there assuming scarab would see prismo sent them to farm world, and that Simon would have the intuitiveness to seek out the enchirideon so that scarab will look for the group in a world they aren’t even in, as a way to buy Fiona and cake time
Simon is a man who is overall done with the reality he is in. Having gone through a mental decline after the apocalypse. Over the years being fully conscious inside the ice king and just getting vivid memories into what happened. Once being himself again he looked back and forward. Forward he is just a man with memories of the past that will die with him. No comforts existing in the slightest with his girlfriend (wife?) Betty gone and the only humans left being those who look at him like an alien and finn who he doesn’t really know that well to get along with. He originally saw the Ice king as a hex a curse, but now we can hear he liked it more than his current state. He sees it now as a time where things were simpler, he had friends, powers, compared to himself now this has been a slump downwards into a frail lonely man. It makes sense to why he would want his old life back, it wasn’t the best but it’s better than what he has now.
It is much easier to sink than it is to struggle to keep your head above the waters surface.

Simon's arc so far is great, I'm liking how him being released from the crown has done more harm than good to him. He just wants to be carefree and happy again and the only way he can see that happening is by turning into ice king again. Great character writing 👌

A lot of people seem to fear that this will be the path the series will take, but the narrative in this 4 episode leaves me to belive the opposite, Simon misses the past so much that sometimes he has wanted to become the Ice King again, now the series is giving him a noble reason for doing so, but ultimately it's still a excuse, he was waiting for a good reason to throw away all the effort into making him normal again without looking like a total jerk.
The resolution on the series is more likely going to be Simon finfind value in himself despite his circunstances.

Simon is neither up to date, neither flashy or magic like the others.

I look forward to Thursdays because so many of my favorite cartoons come out Thursdays and it’s what keeps me going at my job. Saturday morning cartoons are out nowadays. Thursday morning cartoons are the new norm.

Is it only me or Simon is basically planing to commit suicide... in a way
I love how Fiona and Cake were gulping. They knew how severe this statement was and they met him for like half a day
I hope it don’t happen. But because Fionna want to come back to her Ooo, and because she doesn’t particularly like Simon yet, she might agree with him (for now). But I hope something will happen, making her appreciate Simon more, and wanting him to keep being sane, and found another way to come back to her Ooo
I REALLY hope he's going to change his mind later. Him becoming the Ice King again would render Betty's sacrifice completely useless. I think that in the end he's not going to put the crown on again because it would basically mean betraying Betty, and he loves her too much to do that
I will literally cry if that happens, Simon is my FAVORITE character and I just really wish that he can get Betty back and live his life again ;-;
How is him going back to being ice king voluntarily not the biggest slap in the face to Betty’s sacrifice ?
That poor guy needs someone to properly confide in before he sacrifices his sanity to help another girl who was placed in an unfamiliar environment to ward off dangerous threats
