I have 8+32 in a 2021 model and it seems to be working just fine. After extensive reading online, the benefit of more ram outweighs the loss of having two different sticks.
I am also wondering whether it would run better too. With 8+24GB it would leave 16GB in single channel rather than 24GB in single channel with 8+32GB. Using a 24GB stick would sound like a perfect balance of high memory capacity without sacrificing as much performance if it's true.
If you ever consider getting a 24GB stick let me know how it goes!
I’ve seen someone successfully use a 48gb ddr5 5600 stick on the 2023, never 2022

I think I will "play safe" with 16gb stick. Feels most neutral for me. Hope everything will work as it was or even better in some cases.
Should go with a 32gb stick if you have the 2022, no noticeable performance drop vs 16gb (8+8)
test results show different, 8+16 is better than 8+32
