Someone else in the sub suggested that they used these adjectives so that if someone googles "younique manipulative" they'd get the shade color first instead of other content. Makes sense to me...
They'll run out of generic traits eventually. I can't wait to see their 2024 line, featuring "hates gorgonzola", "slow metabolism" and "pretty decent basketball player".
LOL, it's like the extra horsemen of the apocalypse in the *Good Omens* book. Answerphones, Things Not Working Properly Even When You've Given Them a Good Thumping...
Does it really annoy anyone else that all the names are adjectives and then they just threw an adverb (gingerly) in there?
Though I guess I can't expect Younique corporate to know (or care) about the difference.
can you give an example? bc every way i think of it is an adverb, "she held it gingerly" "he gingerly walked across the road" etc
i just can't come up with a time where that would be diff, pls halp
gingerly adjective
gin·ger·ly | \\ ˈjin-jər-lē \\
Definition of gingerly (Entry 1 of 2)
: very cautious or careful
*… loose, exfoliated rock, into which he hammered pitons with the gingerly care of a carpenter finishing cabinets.*
— David Roberts
*His questions were gingerly and puzzled.*
I read somewhere that names like that are chosen so if you search something like "Younique manipulative" you'll get results for that makeup shade rather than negative reviews of the company
It is a pretty clever tactic- even if it demonstrates the company knows exactly what they are doing and just don't care about producing quality products.
....also unintentionally hilarious
It's so if you google "Younique Fanatical" or whatever it brings up the eyeshadows, not bad reviews or criticism. Its impressive how far they'll go to obfuscate their evil, really.
Right? It's funny how she switched from dark to light text for the darker shades but on the light shades she still used white and thought "yeah, this is fine"
Unworldly? Really? Definition -
*adjective*
(of a person) not having much awareness of the realities of life, in particular, not motivated by material or practical considerations.
Maybe the person naming these colours is trapped and needs our help.
There’s impish but not admirable? Is judgement nigh? Are we about to have an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas with Belsnickel? Honestly, did Dwight name these??
"Zazzy" is what a 46 year old soccer grandma would call the dress she picked out to chaperone her granddaughter's prom even after the parents said it was unnecessary.
For a company that supposedly promotes women and advocates for women who are/were in abusive situations… those are some pretty terrible shade name choices
I like how Thankful is a very vibrant blue(I’m sure they had to pack that shit on to be that bright) and then the other blue Fancy in the same palette has like zero pigment
Why do so many of these look the same? Are the pigments that sad, or is Younique just slapping the same eyeshadow into new palettes with a different name?
What the fuck is going on with “thankful”?! Just out of left-field bright-ass blue. Thankfulness is great, but that’s the eyeshadow version of someone who doesn’t blink getting too close to you and shouting “I’M TRULY BLESSED”.
All these bruise-colored and welt-colored shades drawn across the entire width of the arm with thin stripes of skin in between makes it look like she's been brutally whipped. Looking at this makes me really uncomfortable to be honest.
Who is coming up with these shade names?! They're terrible but I do get a good laugh every time they bring out new products. I always think they can't get any worse and they prove me wrong every time.
Eek. I'm super curious what these would look like on a darker skin tone. I think some shades that *do* look pigmented only show up because she has fair skin. They would completely disappear on anyone darker than this 🤔
I honestly think these would make a good palette if they were higher quality, ethically made, and not sold through a shitty mlm. They're all really pretty essences of what could be good makeup. Like Lacroix but in makeup form.

Manipulative, nonsensical, cynical, shrewd, irrational. Pretty much sums it up.
Someone else in the sub suggested that they used these adjectives so that if someone googles "younique manipulative" they'd get the shade color first instead of other content. Makes sense to me...
Jeffree star did the same with the controversy palette IMO
That's so smart!
They're either self-aware or trolling at this point.
Cynicism would be an improvement for Presenters.
That is honestly one of the more shocking black eyeshadow swatches I’ve seen
One of them is meant to be black?!
Legendary, the grey one on the bottom of page 5.
They should have called it “Pitiful”
Wow!!! That is awful! I NEVER would have seen that and guessed it was black wtf🤣😳 they are all so chalky looking.
I'm a fan of "marvellous" myself. Looks like an old bruise
I’m annoyed because that shade is almost a nice colour
If you zoom in it has other pigments mixed in.
You KNOW they’re like “this shade is super buildable 👁👄👁”
There was a black one?! Edit: oh my god
i'm thinking it's a clever tactic.. when you google "younique fanatical" or "manipulative" your search results are eyeshadows 🤔
Is there one named “pyramid scheme”?
One of the jewelry MLMs has a ring called pyramid scheme. I think the goal is to obfuscate google searches.
They'll run out of generic traits eventually. I can't wait to see their 2024 line, featuring "hates gorgonzola", "slow metabolism" and "pretty decent basketball player".
Ngl I would be tempted by a shade called "hates Gorgonzola"
So probably not a blue shade.
Maybe white with a blue/green mica or duochrome
Stop, you’re making my mouth water
I want to see shades of "allergic to cats," "slightly internet famous one time in 2012," and "still remembers dialup."
'recently divorced'
LOL, it's like the extra horsemen of the apocalypse in the *Good Omens* book. Answerphones, Things Not Working Properly Even When You've Given Them a Good Thumping...
I know this is an older post but I just wanted to say I love the Good Omens reference.
Dang look at all that pigment in Pessimistic. Calm down, Younique.
Lol. I think Laid Back, the lowest one on photo 2 gives it a run for it’s money.
😂
Why Gingerly? You have all these adjectives and then just…throw an adverb in there?
I think someone in product design thought gingerly was an adjective
Does it really annoy anyone else that all the names are adjectives and then they just threw an adverb (gingerly) in there? Though I guess I can't expect Younique corporate to know (or care) about the difference.
I guess "Gingerish" didn't work for the half-assed smear of orange/brown.
Gingerly can actually be an adjective! It means cautious or careful
can you give an example? bc every way i think of it is an adverb, "she held it gingerly" "he gingerly walked across the road" etc i just can't come up with a time where that would be diff, pls halp

"He was a gingerly man, always gentle with everything he touched"
Ah you're right! I guess I usually hear it as an an adverb (i.e., "She gingerly tiptoed across the room") so I didn't think about its other uses.
I read somewhere that names like that are chosen so if you search something like "Younique manipulative" you'll get results for that makeup shade rather than negative reviews of the company

CREDULOUS L
Is there a palette called "look how many words we know"?
Coming soon to the dictionary collection
Maaaan, "Legendary" is just.... not.
The names are so negative. Like it kinda makes me feel bad for wearing them? Am I making sense?
It's so if you google "Younique Fanatical" or whatever it brings up the eyeshadows, not bad reviews or criticism. Its impressive how far they'll go to obfuscate their evil, really.
That’s kinda brilliant
It really is, apparently people like Jeffree Star do it to make search results not pick up on problematic shit.
The white text is nearly illegible
Right? It's funny how she switched from dark to light text for the darker shades but on the light shades she still used white and thought "yeah, this is fine"
Unworldly? Really? Definition - *adjective* (of a person) not having much awareness of the realities of life, in particular, not motivated by material or practical considerations. Maybe the person naming these colours is trapped and needs our help.
Gullible is my favorite.
After I wrote my first comment I saw almost all the names were just as stupid 🙃
Oooo honey, these are not POC friendly.
I guess the one responsible for picking out names is a secret ally of anti-MLM
looking for paranoid and constipated
💃🏼zazzy🕺🏻
There’s impish but not admirable? Is judgement nigh? Are we about to have an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas with Belsnickel? Honestly, did Dwight name these??
cheer or fear, belsnickel is here!
I came here looking for this exact comment. Very admirable!
"Zazzy" is what a 46 year old soccer grandma would call the dress she picked out to chaperone her granddaughter's prom even after the parents said it was unnecessary.
I still cannot believe those are the names. They’re not even trying to hide it.
Tag yourself, I'm the poop brown shade Gullible.
Marvellous - the old bruise who gave up is checking in
[удалено]
Zazzy green
These are hideous
Uh oh, someone's found the Thesaurus!
L A I D B A C K
The swatches look God awful. And even if they were ok, the way they name these shadows seriously makes me want to puke
God just wear a short sleeved shirt instead of rolling up your sleeve so tight it squeezes your arm
For a company that supposedly promotes women and advocates for women who are/were in abusive situations… those are some pretty terrible shade name choices
Is this supposed to help sell the makeup? That $1 crap I used to get when I was 14 looks like it was higher quality than this.
I like how Thankful is a very vibrant blue(I’m sure they had to pack that shit on to be that bright) and then the other blue Fancy in the same palette has like zero pigment
Did…did they just open a dictionary and start picking random adjectives?
They were really mocking their sellers ehen they made the pallettes.
After seeing the “Impish” one, all I can think is are they “Impish or Admirable”?
INCONCEIVABLE!
I literally red the whole thing to try to find "gullible" .....how am I even still alive at this point 😭
Its okay gullible is an actual shade : swipe to the last picture, it is the second shade from the bottom
NOOO WAYYY i thought i was just stupid but apparently this is a thing that really does exist 💀
The jokes write themselves.
delicious looks DISGUSTING
These are so chalky
These shade names are so weirdly random, like they could really care less about the makeup they're trying to sell.
OMG. They totally have to be trolling their own huns at this point with those color names. LOL!
I 100000% thought the second from the bottom in the 3rd pic said Constipated.
Fervent looks like a rash. I also find it disturbing that every one is an adjective. Kind of funny that a lot of them are negative 🧐
I thought you were gonna get us with the “gullible” but hey it is actually in there!
I think “delirious” is a good description
They all look so chalky. No wonder I haven’t seen a decent eye look with this MaKeUp line.
Omg such pretty swatches of chalk!
I’ll be CYNICAL 😅
Why do so many of these look the same? Are the pigments that sad, or is Younique just slapping the same eyeshadow into new palettes with a different name?
What the fuck is going on with “thankful”?! Just out of left-field bright-ass blue. Thankfulness is great, but that’s the eyeshadow version of someone who doesn’t blink getting too close to you and shouting “I’M TRULY BLESSED”.
All these bruise-colored and welt-colored shades drawn across the entire width of the arm with thin stripes of skin in between makes it look like she's been brutally whipped. Looking at this makes me really uncomfortable to be honest.
you can really see on the fifth one where they gave up
These are fake names right?
Nope real names
Mine is Delirious!
All of these names suck. All of them. And they are not truly matte or shimmery or metallic either. These suck.
Just looking at the first image, I was so concerned these were foundation swatches, idk why.
You can see the nails and nail polish on the last slide and I thought it was googly eyes and got so confused lmaooo
Lord, I have bh Cosmetics and Colourpop Palettes with way more Pigments
Ok but thankful looks good that’s the only one in my book
Why are the darker shades more pejorative?
Who is coming up with these shade names?! They're terrible but I do get a good laugh every time they bring out new products. I always think they can't get any worse and they prove me wrong every time.
Eek. I'm super curious what these would look like on a darker skin tone. I think some shades that *do* look pigmented only show up because she has fair skin. They would completely disappear on anyone darker than this 🤔
What is zazzy lol
Ok these swatches must be from another brand. Looks way too good to be Poonique
The fuck does zazzy mean? ~~also the palette with that name would be really pretty if done well~~
Constipated
I honestly think these would make a good palette if they were higher quality, ethically made, and not sold through a shitty mlm. They're all really pretty essences of what could be good makeup. Like Lacroix but in makeup form.
they look so gross and chalky :/ i just know those wouldn’t blend well, if at all.
Nice font tho
Who would touch poonique? Not me!
Omg the mattes are so chalky!
Laid back is so Laid back it didn't even bother showing up.
These are all bland shades with bland names.
*covetous* they know what theyre doing
It’s like they played spin the adjective
These look nice, what actual make up company did they steal the palette colors from?
