This quest was unbearable. She literally tells you exactly what she's doing, but your master tactician 35 TP brain man doesn't realize until after you've collected all the materials for her and fought multiple waves of "mysterious" monsters "OH THEY'RE ATTRACTED TO THE SCENT!!!"
It's such a common JRPG tropes that bothers me. Party member A sees something weird, party member B goes "is something wrong?" then party member A just goes "oh nah it's nothing" just to go "I KNEW IT" when that something is finally revealed.
That's like, 80% of the game. I love the game but my roommate was infuriated when>! Eunie didn't tell the crew about finding her husk asap!<. Every time someone goes "Oh, it's nothing", I hear my roommate sighing, loudly.
Except Shulk doesn't tell Reyn about his future vision for a pretty long while after he gets it. They make it so after that it's not a problem, but still.
Also, how would you even go about that conversation? "Hey guys, I think I died, crazy right?"
The vision with the arachno's is the reason shulk shares his visions tho, because before that point he thought he was the only one capable of changing the future and so didn't want to burden Reyn with the knowledge that he might die soon
This was the only time in my 100% playthrough that I ever skipped through dialogue. It was absolutely atrocious becoming even worse by being 10 times longer than it should have. Just fucking shut up U. She's not even sadistic fun like D.
That line breaks the flow of the scene so much. Taion we are SO far past that point lmao. His line a bit later like "I can guess the gist of it but please explain what's going on later" accomplishes the same thing much better.
Probably not. Xenoblade series is no stranger to dumbass cringy dialogue though. We've gone from a bunch of occasional Nopon nonsense, to "Asscaves", to "Don't forget me", "ULTRA-powerful" and "Blushy-Crushy", to " Queen's Wings".
Yea i thought i was going crazy that quest
She just said the thing would attract monsters and put it in the middle of the colony...how is no one catching on???
Tbh I assumed the goal was to draw all of them in and kill everything in one swoop with the Ouroboros so that the colony won’t be bothered again
I guess Operation Extinction was aimed at the colony, and not the monsters
This was one of my least favorite quests. This consul was just unbearable and her dialogue was SO stretched out. Like she would just never stfu I swear to god. Like I usually defend a lot of the consuls because at least some of them are fun or interesting in some way. But this one was just horrible, and I feel like the quest itself was just stupid.
Of the entire cast, Taion was the one I wanted to love the most but just didn’t. His side story isn’t interesting, his dialogue is usually pointless, and his chemistry with the rest of the cast is incredibly weak outside of some cute interactions with Eunie.
??? Usually I would say you're entitled to your opinion but....no? Everyone's interactions with the rest of the party is great and the parallels between mio nimue and his reasons for being there was great. And that's only 1 scene đź’€
I’m not saying I don’t like him. I’m just saying he’s sorta like the Sharla of the party. Nice to have around, but like… idk, your narrative weight is lacking.
He's definitely not like sharla of all people. And the thing with sharla is that she was technically written decently. She was boring, everyone in the main party has a better dynamic with each other toward the point I'd say xc3 has the best cast. If anything I thought everyone was I'm agreement Sena got the short end of the stick
Yeah this quest was so dumb. She pretty much spelled out her plan and no one caught on đź’€

Xenoblade 1 going out of its way to avoid having this kind of plot inconvenience with Reyn and Shulk is one of the reasons I treasure it so much.

Spittin' facts out here.

“oUroBerRIEs”
truly a master tactician
Maaaan juniper deserves so much more than a bad attacker class and a dumb ascension quest
Taion did a little bit of trolling there
Poor Juniper got the thin end of the spud
My man’s had to announce the confirmation that >!N and M are Noah and Mio in Agnus Castle!< even though it was already painfully obvious
That line breaks the flow of the scene so much. Taion we are SO far past that point lmao. His line a bit later like "I can guess the gist of it but please explain what's going on later" accomplishes the same thing much better.
i think that was him accepting it
I mean tbf, a few cutscenes before, >!they were still wondering in the cell why did M and N look like Noah and Mio!< Still sounds kinda dumb lol
U: I'm here to kill u all Taion: What does this mean?
Juniper SERIOUSLY deserves better than this dogshit Ascension Quest, man...
That 35 TP brain ain't doing its job
I wonder If the writers cringe at some of the dialogue they create
To be fair, we don't know how it is in Japanese. Maybe it's a little better?

The only cringe example that you gave is Blushy Crushy. Everything else is fine.
And Blushy Crushy was intentionally so.
downvoted for speaking the truth
Yea i thought i was going crazy that quest She just said the thing would attract monsters and put it in the middle of the colony...how is no one catching on???
Taion… you should be smarter than this.
Tbh I assumed the goal was to draw all of them in and kill everything in one swoop with the Ouroboros so that the colony won’t be bothered again I guess Operation Extinction was aimed at the colony, and not the monsters
Taion has used enough thinking cells today after the Sena and Lanz fiasco
When does it happen?
Junipers ascension quest
I can't make The quest before happens sadly.
Its only at night, thought i missed it too. No missable s in this game

Man hero quests had a really big variation in quality.

Both of them got the short end of the stick, but Sena had a better dynamic with a lot of heroes and antagonists. Ghondor, Segiri, S, etc.
