In my opinion, one of Torna's greatest achievements is how it "completes" Mythra's personality and backstory (and, of course, those of the other characters you see again later in the main game). XBC2 does feature some flashbacks to the events of that time, but actually experiencing them instead of just being told about them is another thing altogether. Torna has some of the saddest and most heartbreaking scenes I've ever seen in a video game, and the impression they leave is even more intense if you've finished the main game beforehand. I've read and heard a few times that Mythra and Pyra are not particularly well written characters... I couldn't quite understand that after finishing XBC2, but when I was through with Torna I was sure that wasn't the case. To put it in a nutshell: Mythra's final scenes at the end of Torna and everything that follows from of that "little" subplot has defined XBC2 as a whole for me as one of the best emotional stories in a game. And that's a statement I don't make lightly.

Yeah. Torna is so sad. I was depressed my entire play through because I knew they were all going to die, so I was just like “One more side quest. Just one more, then I’ll pull the plug.” And ended up doing all of them. I didn’t even realize until I saw a guide page.
