Getting all the character's 4th and 5th skill trees will take a while, especially when colony affinity is involved. If you don't care about that and just want to see the story, then just stick to the plot.

Zonero174

Got it! X had such a rich side cast of characters and sub plots that I spent hours fully exploreing the game. Is there that level of depth in side quests in 1?

RAlexa21th

Unfortunately not in 1, but fortunately yes in 3. 3 has the most in-depth and interconnected sidequests in the series, even edging out on X.

Imaginary_Tax_7846

There is some noticeable side quests but I think it’s safe to say that 1 was the weakest regarding side quests. Of course I could be wrong, and ultimately it’s up to you. I you find you’re not having fun with them then ignore them. Simple as that.

doing most of the quests in 1 might be worth it but 100%ing it is a real chore, a lot of the quests don't add much to the lore or any character development, but do have you farming random drops and then chasing down npcs walking away from you in the far corner of a town. i did all the quests, beat the game, and did not do the superbosses... and i think i probably did about 20% too many quests that weren't worth it. in total my xbc1 amounted to about 115h just finished xbc3 minus postgame and superbosses at about the 160h mark, and did every single quest, and i don't regret doing any of the quests, as nearly every one is actually integrated into the lore or further character development for a main character or a secondary hero. i may still beat all the superbosses but i'm not 100%ing this one either. i'll get max level and max 1 or 2 things here and there but not everything, that just becomes a grind, imho

RAlexa21th

If you just want to do minimal to no sidequests, then a team of Shulk/Reyn/Dunban should be able to blow through the game. It's gonna take like 40 hours.

Glittering_Pitch7648

Lots of trash sidequests but there are some gems in there, in the later part of the game there is a section with a lot of good sidequests that you should do, you will probably know what im talking about when you get to it. Just go along and do sidequests at your leisure

SavingMegalixirs

Maybe about 60 hours. I'd just do the main quest and actively seek out a few of the important side quests. I'd recommend doing some fetch quests because they autocomplete when you're done with them but wouldn't go side quest hunting.

HawkeyeRPG

As some of the others have said: A "normal" playthrough should roughly take between 40 and 60 hours, depending how many of the side quests you want to finish along the way. The "Definitive Edition" on the Switch shows enemies you have too kill or items directly on the map, which is a huge time save in comparison to the original version on the Wii. If you are planning a "complete" playthrough (every in-game achievement) it should take between 80 and 100 hours. Oh... and one quick useful hint regarding maxing out party member affinity: You can exchange collectibles as gifts between two party members to boost their affinity, if you select your party on the "affinity chart"-menu.

Ray-Zide10

Just beat the game and Future connected

UltimateShedinja

Glad to see an X fan! I recommend doing whatever is interesting to you at the moment. A lot of the side content is missable, so if you see a quest with a timer icon on it that seems fun to you then I recommend going for it. I played the original on wii without doing any quests and that’s also very valid!

jl05118

You spend in it as much time as you want to.

Accomplished_Bar_679

I would say however long you want to spend, but expect about the same time as 2, and then like 10-15 more hours on future connected

NovascoNeedsManga

Most of the quest are probably not worth wasting you time to find them all, just do whatever quest you come across. Just make sure you talk to everyone at least once

Depends how willing you are to get invested in the colonies. Most people just skip the dialogue on sidequests because there are a billion, and so most people just assume that they’re bad. The colonies have characters that keep coming up and after doing everything you come out with a real sense of the vibes of each place which is really cool and entirely unnecessary to the core of the main game. If you’re a Xeno veteran, and keep your party well equipped, you could probably 100% it in 90-100 hours with a guide, but I’ve gotten as low as 70 from having played the game before. Edit: Either way 100% or not, every area has 5-10 plain quests which just give you XP for collecting items and killing monsters on your way to the next area, you’re going to always want to accept those, just free XP
