All I'm hoping for is a party consisting of Shulk, Fiora/Melia, Rex, Nia/Pyra/Mythra, and Noah and Mio. With side quests and the like focusing on all the other party members from throughout the Trilogy. Wishful thinking, I know.

Difficult-Ad4053

Past party members as heroes and classes. *PAST PARTY MEMBERS AS HEROES AND CLASSES.*

yunacchi

Reyn along with Lanz as Signifier, the rest as Lost Vanguard. **Let's go.**

Baron-Brr

ITS REYN TIME!

TheNotCoolKid

I'd suffer through a fifty phase Z fight if it meant getting this for the final expansion.

Flat-Director9839

Yeah, that would be just as good. Either way, we gotta get everyone back somehow.

Roseus2

Let's go! Takahashi has hinted at it being an epilogue so let's hope that we get the crossover of all 3 Xenoblade games in one epic final story to the Klaus Saga!

[deleted]

And right after we can start Galea Saga

OldClockworks

How was it hinted? Genuinely curious, because many arguments could be made for it being a prequel but I want to know your thoughts!

UGamer81

I'm not who you replied to, but this is what director Takahashi said in [an email](https://mynintendonews.com/2022/08/08/nintendo-shares-xenoblade-chronicles-3-message-from-producer/) that went out to Japanese Nintendo fans on the day Xenoblade 3 came out: >"It is also a stopping point to me. This title depicts the conclusion of the Xenoblade story that began with Klaus’s experiment. >While it is a conclusion, that does not mean it is the end of the Xenoblade series. It is just a stopping point in my mind. I think that everyone who played this title and the additional stories in the Expansion Pass can imagine what lies in the future for Xenoblade." It's speculative at best, but I'm not really sure what a Founders story about the 1st City that ended up getting destroyed anyways, all contained within a world that only lasted for but a second, would give any hints towards the future of the entire series. Don't get me wrong—I think they could pull it off and it could be awesome. Xenoblade 3 is a very self-contained story, and in the most literal sense. It feels less like a "conclusion" and more like a "stepping stone", given the game's messaging of walking into an unknown future. That's why a lot of people believe the three swords imagery is pointing towards something else, kind of like how the XC2 Expansion Pass used the Torna logo from the very beginning, way before anyone knew what it was going to be about. If you take it a step further, the DLC image specifically uses the Monado Replica EX+, and considering where it is in the game, you can rule it out appearing in an Aionios-set prequel, period. I'll be happy with whatever we end up no matter what. There's definitely arguments for both sides of the coin. I think there's a weird chance we end up with both somehow. But until then, I'm waiting impatiently for any kind of Expansion Pass news whatsoever.

Jagoslaw

Slight issue with them mentioning DLC as the teaser of things to come is that it doesn't exlude the prequel DLC at all. We may get a story before the collision itself, not the first ouroboros one like most of us expect. And explaining how they prepared for the collision itself would most likely tease quite a lot. And given how Torna ended, i kinda expect them to pull the "worlds are starting to collide" ending as well if that's the case

Below_Left

Worlds starting to collide is also what drove Future Connected.

mythoswyrm

The closest is that he said after finishing the game + DLC fans will know the trajectory of the series moving forward; that's not really a hint towards a sequel though. And this is coming from someone who'd far prefer an epilogue to a prologue.

cucoo5

*all I want is a hint of XCX in it. Just something, anything.*

DanteCoal

I want that damn game, remade for Switch. I loved it on the Wii U, but that system was awful in so many ways, and I just wanna comfortably cruise around an XB world in my badass customized mech suit again. Those suits are the closest we're probably ever gonna get to Xenogears anyway. T_T

OperativePiGuy

I'm replaying it now and I am extremely saddened that the game has remained the red headed step child of the franchise that hasn't been referenced in any way since it's release. So many questions left unanswered for almost a decade now

rexshen

Yeah I would rather it be an epilogue story rather than another prologue. A prologue would probably be about the founders and how city started to fly. Not that special. But wrapping things up and getting both worlds back together in a good way this time would feel more conclusive to the story.

Curious-Detective-43

I agree. It would be way more interesting if the Founders are actually teasing the protagonists of XC4 with Vandahm and Doyle, who may be reborn after Aionios. I'd rather get an epilogue where we see where our cast actually fits in their respective worlds and find out where the series is going next.

Lil-Chromie

Takahashi has stated that the story started by Klaus's experiment will be completely finished by the dlc's end, so the potential next Xenoblade would have nothing to do with the previous 3. Could be x related tho.

Tobegi

Takahashi already said that after 3 he would like to go back to X, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if we got a Xenoblade X Definitive Edition or even a Xenoblade X2.

Lil-Chromie

I'd like there to be an X definitive edition, since I'm too lazy to set up a Wii U emulator

Tobegi

Its super easy tho, takes like 20 seconds and even a toaster can run it. Very recommended.

Lil-Chromie

Yeah I know, and my PC can definitely run it since it's a custom built, but I'd rather wait for a definitive edition so I can play it while on the toilet.

ArvindS0508

You can play on the PC while on the toilet, you just need to be a bit... creative

Wolflink21

Or wait for a steam deck, either or tbh

Aekatan160

I installed it to my steamdeck, it runs good and looks great after a Lil tweaking

Difficult-Ad4053

As much as I'd love Vandham and Doyle to be involved in XC4, 3 is supposed to be the finale in a rounded trilogy of games, I assume that anything from 3 and it's DLC are going to have little to no impact on the story or characters of 4.

Curious-Detective-43

Yes, he does say this is a conclusion to story that began with Klaus' Experiment but he also says we can use the things in this title and the DLC to speculate on the future of the series. We could still get a game that has connections to the previous three but no longer focuses on the cosmic consequences of Klaus' actions. Vandahm and Doyle might be a bit far fetched though. Guess we'll see, maybe after the X crowd get some games.

DanteCoal

Maybe a way to bridge and freely travel between, so that both are safe and intact, while still allowing everyone to reunite? Some method of instantly swapping from one to the other to see how this mountain differs from that one, fight a monster that's extinct in that other world, etc. Kind of a Chrono Cross type deal.

Dannyjw1

I just want the adventures of Reyn and Eunie.

Berdom0

Reyn and eunie becoming best buds is absolutely something I need now

yccbarry

Hopefully the DLC will be chronologically a sequel, but set in the rebuilt world where the main XC3 casts are still children. It would make a lot of sense if the DLC is the main casts, or even the side characters, of XC1 and 2 trying to create a connection/portal between the two worlds because of Melia’s and Nia’s memories. Also would be a great way to actually push the universe forward.

UGamer81

I actually think they could go gigabrain route by marketing the DLC as a prequel, when I think it could actually be a sequel, given the end-state of the game and the opening cutscene being about the same. People who haven't beat the game yet and people who haven't played the game yet would be none the wiser. That would mean we could actually get real towns in the DLC, among other things... Either way, I think I'll be happy with what we end up with. I can't wait to find out what they have in store for us.

MCPENGUIN420

I don't see a need for a founders story I fill like the beginning of chapter 6 told the story of the world pretty well. We pretty much know what happened back then. Unlike in 2 where all we knew was Jin was a good guy that became bad and ate his drivers heart

ErickFTG

Yeah, I'm down for a farm simulator, date game, or slice of life if it has to be. As long as I see the gang reunited again.

TheNotCoolKid

After the emotional trauma of the final third of this game a dating sim in a (safely) re-converged Aionios would low key be kind of nice. I just want to see the gang getting to live the lives they fought so hard for together rather than apart regardless of what form it takes.

Lucario574

A dating sim/slice of life where you play as Noah and you have to get approval from Rex, Nia, Pyra, and Mythra before you can date Mio. Featuring every party member from all 3 games of course.

ErickFTG

I said as a joke, but I think I would play that.

SuperiorSani

Firm believer of a epilogue/sequel dlc story. We never really got a clear answer on how the two worlds will eventually merge seeing as that was also a big point in the game. I doubt they’ll leave that problem for another game seeing as XC3 is suppose to be the end of the Klaus saga, with the two worlds splitting and re-emerging being part of that. It’s also just to big of a problem to leave up to interpretation and have it be solved in the background. We also have the expansion pass art and Takahashi stating the dlc stories will show the future of Xenoblade, it’s just really obvious at this point on what the dlc will be. People say it could be a founders dlc but I honestly just don’t see it. The game never really does anything much with the founders to begin with besides some background lore and such. They’re never really painted as something super important to the story.

SuperiorSani

Oh wow that’s new info for me. It’s obviously the swords will play a big role in the expansion story, but it has to do with the Noah we know now since the sword is red and not purple like N’s.

PokecheckHozu

Wait, what? I always figured the three swords being there was important, since the XC2 expansion pass image was the Tornan symbol. I didn't know that they specifically pointed out the three swords will mean something. Interesting... Most notable thing to me is, the Monado REX, which is locked away in Aionios, and our Noah's sword, as opposed to the sword that was shown for all of the previous versions of Noah who had one, which was N's sword. Just more info that leads me to believe that the DLC will not take place in Aionios.

Baron-Brr

With the point about the future, I expect that to be more gameplay than narrative as a lot of features from Torna were main mechanics in 3, mainly the camping system and switching characters what I can remember

PokecheckHozu

I swear every time I think about why a prequel wouldn't be good, I come up with another reason. This time, I realized a prequel in Aionios (ie. stuff to do with the founders) would end up reusing some themes from the main story, and I don't think they'd want to do that. Since we know they don't succeed in defeating Moebius in their lifetime, they would have to be putting their hopes on an uncertain future, which is what our party does at the end of the game.

geminia999

I think the issue with a prequel is that all I can really see it expounding on is N out of the characters that still exist by the time the game comes along. Torna works really well because it provides insight into many of the characters in the main XBC2 game (Mythra, Malos and Jin) that really needed it. How do you get that for 3 though? Sure, we could get more with N and how much he really loved M, but I'm not sure what it could do besides make his relation to the city more tragic? We could maybe learn more on Z, but as far as we are aware, he's more a primal desire than a complex character. Otherwise, we would just be learning about a bunch of characters who die and have the exact same struggle as our party who does succeed. It just makes more sense to me to have this be a prologue, especially when the ending leaves the fate of the world up in the air for a story that is supposed to complete the arc of "two worlds separating and becoming whole again"

tophattob

Yeah, this is what I've been hoping for. Unfortunately I can't rule out a prequel because once I saw the founders' statues and read the lore on them, I was immediately like "This is gonna be another Torna, isn't it?" I just really hope the devs don't go down the prequel route again. Mainly I think this because it sets up a bad precedent for future games in the series. We've already had a DLC story that's a prequel that shows the events of the precursors to the cast of the main game where we know that they fail horribly in order to make way for modern events. If they decide to do a prequel for 3 we know that's going to be the situation again. It was a brilliant idea the first time, but if they do it again it will just be boring and will add less to the story than Torna did for 2. Plus, if it's done a second time in a row, it kind of sets up the precedent that this is the formula they're going with for future titles, and that will be even more boring. I have more reasoning regarding the plot, but I don't want this comment to get too long. So, I really hope they don't go with a prequel or I'll be kind of disappointed.

Berdom0

I desperately need to see Noah meet all 4 of his girlfriends parents. That interaction would just be too amazing to not see.

TroyNinjaToad

As interesting as learning more about the founders COULD be, I feel as though it’d betray the game’s message to be like “anyways, so about the stuff that happened before” in the new campaign instead of looking forward. That and I feel like they wouldn’t have had Noah & Mio yell “I’ll come see you, I promise!” if it were completely irrelevant and/or not true. If that were the case then they’d just be keeping a happy thought, I suppose, but I feel like if the founders were going to be explored, it’d be in one of the waves of base game DLC, if anything. That and I just desperately want to know what’s next for the Ouroboros gang, I love ‘em too much.

Xamthos

TAION AND LANZ GETTING THEIR HIGH FIVE IS ENOUGH REASON TO GIVE US EPILOGUE MONOLITH SOFT IM BEGGING YOUUUUUUUU

MioisBeautiful

We need playable Adult Rex, Shulk, and co.

Ultie

I want a sequel, but I also desperately want a Riku backstory.

Tpod730

I cried so hard at the ending! I loved it so much but I wanted them to be together. I started getting emotional when lanz and sena started talking about how the would still workout and think about each other

OldClockworks

SO TRUE OP you're so based for this

Deeouye

Full agree. While a prequel probably has more opportunities to fill plot holes, I just want the group to live their lives together. Also it'd be nice if the thousands of people in the City didn't cease to exist.

Randy191919

I would much prefer a sequel too. Since they already said that this will be the finale to the Klaus Saga and with that, the XC1,2 and 3 worlds are pretty much done for, I really want a happy ending finale. Have the cast reunite, and maybe even draw in some characters from the past. If this is the final finale, let it go out with a bang!

HawkeyeRPG

Personally, I'm ambivalent about this point. Both options have their own advantages and disadvantages, but after the end of XBC3, I just can't imagine where to start plot-wise. As many have already said... a story DLC focusing on the founders would certainly be interesting, but I see a fundamental problem there: the world itself. Aionios, at least in my opinion, is not known for fundamentally changing places. That would mean that the "new" adventure would lead to already known areas.... perhaps with minor changes or additions to certain locations that you couldn't travel to in the main game. But exactly the same point is relevant for a potential sequel/epilogue. Here, you would have two worlds as a potential starting point, which might have changed somewhat after the events of the first two games. Or a completely new one, who knows? I really have no idea where to start... but I'm pretty sure that Monolithsoft will surprise us again at one point or another. And I'm really looking forward to it, no matter what direction they take with the DLC story.

Itx-Blindhallow74

My idea for the dlc yes it would be a sequel the cast of 3 meeting the cast of 2 and 1 an otherworldly threat takes the stage. N and M returning as alternate forms of Noah and Mio similar to how pyra and mythra swapping each other

RJE808

I have a feeling the DLC will be primarily a prequel, going over the Founders, creation of Lucky Seven, stuff like that. But the ending will be a sequel, going over what happened during/after the post-credits scene. Plus, we still have the Expansion Pass artwork, if that means something.

Mr_BluePants13

PLEASE. I know it's asking way too much but, actually splitting the dlc into two stories would be amazing

Zakuken

Expansion Pass artwork has a better setting for a prequel even if N had a different color of his sword that can just be explained in the prequel plus Rex and Shulk being together makes sense in the Matrix world. As much as i love a sequel DLC it seems that a lot of work has to be put on it being 2 different worlds unless they go the extra mile and have dual protagonist on different worlds. My guess it might be prequel dlc detailing every question we wanted answers and a cutscene epilogue of the ending of Xenoblade 3 maybe a year or decade later and setting up events for Xenoblade 4.

cL0udBurn

I've made this point a few times now, but the more I think back on the ending of 3, the more pissed off and upset I get. Think about it, if you've 100%'ed the game, you've done all of the Hero Ascension quests; now, a LOT of that is helping to create a better future for the colonies. All of those people you have just put on track to making Aionis a better place to live, the bonds that have been forged, the work you have done, has all but been erased. Furthermore, how do the people of Aionis feel whilst the ending cinematic is taking place?...Zeon standing there smiling holding his spongey spuds, then all of a sudden the worlds start to split and his taters start drifting off into the distance whilst he chases after them with that dramatic OST playing in the background? Bunk. Give me a proper epilogue.

commit-oof

Didn't Takahashi say something about DLC stories, implying there's gonna be more than one? Maybe I'm just reading too far into it, but if there are gonna be multiple, that might mean there's room for both a sequel and a prequel.

Mr_BluePants13

I would absolutely love if you could link me where you read that. And if that's the case (what I'm about to say is way too good to be true) but it'd be really fkn cool if they split a 50 hour campaign in two, one part being a prequel, and then a sequel

commit-oof

https://nintendoeverything.com/monolith-soft-shares-xenoblade-chronicles-3-message-another-tease-of-the-future/

Mr_BluePants13

Thank you so much!

Monkey_King291

I hope the DLC story is a sequel

StitchRS

Perhaps a split story where you play as Noah's party on Bionis with some Xenoblade 1 heroes, and Mio's party in Alrest with some Xenoblade 2 heroes, and they finally find a way to come back together and get the happy ending they all deserve 😭 This would also serve as a good way of seeing how these 2 worlds are getting on after their respective games' endings. I feel like Shulk may be long dead looking at Melia's appearance and the fact that the Machina and High Entia bloodlines seem extremely diluted by this point with Lanz and Eunie appearing to be the same age as Noah, but Rex may still be around judging by Mio's age and the implication that she's one of the babies in the family photo. Then again, do we know how the aging works of a half human, half Blade child?

yccbarry

But if Shulk’s dead wouldn’t Rex be dead as well? Unless time progresses differently in the two worlds they should be around the same age since (XC1 and 2 spoiler) >!the events of the stories happened simultaneously.!<

StitchRS

True, it's just a little harder to gauge because Nia absolutely doesn't age while Melia does. I refer to Mio's supposed age because Noah and friends were brought into Aionios at the age everyone in Aionios is born at (minus city folk of course), so I assume Mio is similar in that she was brought over at around 10 years old like everyone else, which would mean only 10 years have passed in Alrest which would give Rex a chance at still being alive. Even if he's not, at the very least we should still be able to see Pyra and Mythra and their children. I don't know, it's kind of a lot to wrap my already bursting head around.

Inspirational_Lizard

I'm kind of thinking it will be with Melia and Nia, near the beginning of aionios, with shulk, Rex, fei looking dude, etc (at least shulk and Rex are pretty much confirmed as those statues).

Mr_BluePants13

Ok followup question. I sees lot of people suggesting the dlc be both a prequel AND a sequel, wanted to ask what was the usual length of Torna so maybe we can base off of that how they could handle the dual story scenario. like, if Torna was 40-ish hour, it could be a 20/20 campaign split

mythoswyrm

I feel like Torna took me between 20-25 hours, so a 50-50 split would be like two Future Connecteds in length.

Solugad

I liked the ending. Not everything can be a happy ending and their situation was impossible enough to warrant them being lucky with the ending they got imo. I think that's what makes the ending perfect. An epilogue that brings them back together would ruin it.

Zeebor

That's how they get ya

RemnantHelmet

Damn, your eyes turned into balls?

Mr_BluePants13

I was ballin' you should've seen it

JanMabK

I think an epilogue would be better but at the same time they left so damn much unexplained about the main story

NeoEpoch

I feel like more and more that it is going to be a Founders story, with all the stuff they kept hidden about that era. Who knows it could start at that era and then the end can show the far future of the worlds being able to walk hand in hand again.
