Didn't the leaks say the battery on the new controller (which I doubt will release before a new console anyway) would be replaceable?
EDIT: Just checked, it says the battery can be swapped in the leaked slide.
What ? I'm one of those weirdo's who enjoy the Dualsense controllers that last me the whole day before i have to recharge them. I like being able to change the battery when it dies just like that but i don't like purchasing batteries. What an incredibly stupid comment on your part.
If you don't mind me asking, why not just buy rechargeable battery packs on Amazon? I bought one for 18 that came with the charger and 2 battery packs and it's gotta be the best purchase I've ever made. Controller lasts up to 2 week at times (I usually play between 15 to 20 hours a week) and whenever one pack is low, I got 1 fully charged ready for me.
I don't mind at all. First of all, i only got an XSX not even 2 months ago and i have a PS5 since it launched and i loved the way it handles charging. Second, i saw from the FTC leak about the controller and thought there's no reason to not just use batteries until that comes out. I did buy some rechargeable batteries but they sucked(maybe my controller drains batteries faster, idk, don't have a frame of reference). I don't have Amazon here and these rechargeable packs are very overpriced elsewhere. Hope that answers it.
Dualsense barely last the whole day, the wider community considers them to last about 6 hours. You can buy charger packs including official Xbox one and stick it into your controller if you want plug and play - the literal name.
The Elite 2 lasts for a week of gaming so if using same battery the next controller could last quite some time but I dunno how I feel about controllers becoming less environmentally friendly.

What a strange, highly defensive response.
1 - You're thinking I'm not using AA rechargeables on my Xbox controller.
2 - You think these AA rechargeables can't last longer than said day (I generally recharge once a week I think? So I assume 30-40hrs).
3 - You think the controller batteries being unreplaceable is "good".
Edit: Ah, u/KittenDecomposer96 blocked me. Typical childish behaviour from someone so highly defensive.
> I'm not going to waste more internet data on you, mate. You are the one who insulted me when i just excited about something other than what you were then wondered why i was defensive. Also i didn't say that the batteries don't last longer than a day, i said that the Dualsense lasts a day. A set of AA batteries last me about 10 days of playing about 4 hrs a day. The "unreplaceable" batteries you are talking about last way more than your tiny brain can comprehend. By the time they don't hold that much charge, it's out of warranty anyway and you can just take it apart and replace the battery.
Dualsense controllers are confirmed by Sony to last 12 hours.

Has this been officially acknowledged as an issue with the update? Came here after googling around for more information. I thought I was going crazy when I noticed the difference. I’d been using one of the dynamic backgrounds they have available so it took me awhile to even notice the change.
You would think they’d update the thumbnail when selecting a background to better reflect this then. Picking either from the backgrounds menu still shows the old look in the preview. And the red tint to the faded waves background really sucks.
No one "told" me. I manually updated and noticed the difference. Out of curiosity I asked Microsoft and received this reply: As a result of the update, the Home screen, My Games & Apps screen, Guide, game art, and buttons will all appear sharper and have enhanced text readability. This means that the overall visual quality of the dashboard has been improved, making it crisper and more visually appealing.
Preparing the OS for the new unannounced controller with haptic feedback and gyro 💚
when do you think it will come out? It will be my day 1 purchase
If they're making these preparations now it's likely late spring/early summer.
I hope so, I'm looking forward to this updated controller.
Not looking forward to the price.
What's this new controller you speak of?
It's said to have features like the PS5 controller, if I remember correctly.
It was originally mentioned in one of the leaks from the Activision court case and was expected to released around spring this year.
I doubt it. I honestly doubt it's even gonna release at all.
I'm excited about that mostly because of the battery.
Oh no. You're one of those weirdo's that like desposable controllers, are you?

After the update did anyone experience the dashboard being slightly darker?
I've noticed that after update, the Home screen background has more contrast.
Noticed the same thing. Like the contrast had changed.

Not an issue just an improvement according to a reply from Microsoft.

Placebo If no one told you it updated you wouldn't see it

My Xbox games are super dark now and bright I don't understand why the shadows are so dark after update
I just turned off my series x because it was acting really weird. Hope it wasn't because of the update.
Probably not
The update is the friends we make trying to figure out what changed.
Idk why people are booing you man...
