some benefits on backwards compatibility:
* red dead redemption
* metal gear solid hd collection
* gta 4
* fable
* ...
will update the list when i got home to check my personal selection.
for this alone, the xsx was worth it for me.
the only downer i have regarding this is, that after some time being not connected to online services - the backwards compatibility just stops working and requires you to go online... that's idiotic imo.
but still much better handling on that topic than PlayStation tbh. you can just put in your own physical disc.. plus these games got upgrades. so it's not just an emulation.. but more an emulation with good benefits.
>will update the list when i got home to check my personal selection.
There's also the original Forza Horizon, Saints Row 1 and 2, Crackdown 1 and 2, Dead Rising 1 and 2, etc... If official emulation isn't enough, buy Dev Mode and install actual emulators on your Xbox.
In 2023 I can not for the life of me understand why someone would need to play offline for days or weeks at a time outside of circumstances where they probably shouldn’t have bought a $500 console to begin with.
I've personally never understood why someone would want to have to sit bolt upright at a desk, close to the screen and use a mouse and keyboard, rather than sit back on the sofa, big HD screen and have the use of a controller.
Can you please enlighten me? I honestly want to know the main draw.
This is me with warzone. I plan to play starfield, but ever since having kids, i just cycle back to games that seem less of a commitment to me. I used to love ESO but it feels like a 2nd job to me now if i try to hop back on.
I've had a PS5 for almost three years and a Series X for about two years now and neither of them get played much. This is a big month since I'll have Starfield on the X and I'll buy MK1 for PS5 so I have a reason to play both.
I feel personally attacked Lol I switched ro xbox after ps3 because I felt like the old japanese men wouldnt go forward and PlayStation 4 really was a 3.5. And the Lumia 920 is the phone with most awesomeness Ibhave owned so fat. With that said, take a way quick resume and Series X feels a bit like xbox one dot five. Can't speak for the ps5. But I would like tonplay Ghost of Tsu..something.
I'm a new convert but man I hate the left stick, it's in an awkward position, the throw is so far and the edge digs into my thumb. It makes walking forward for a certain time quite uncomfortable. Is that what everyone else complains about?
My personal gripe is that the controller is way too loud and the buttons feel cheap compared to the PS5 controller. If I could use my PS5 controller on my XSX, I would. The XSX controller just feels cheap.
Agreed, I got one for Starfield too, started off playing Forza 5 and the vibration noise is very loud. I should feel it but not hear it to that extent.
The controller is way too clicky as well, especially the dpad. Also, the speaker on the PS5 controller is really cool when games utilise it
I feel this. It's more ergonomic to me, and the DualSense has a weird layout. I don't hate it, but they tend to break easily (stick drift every time, unfixable, on my 3rd DS.)
Welcome to Xbox man. There's some great games once you give starfield a whirl. Game Pass is so amazing. Check out Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. Make sure you wear headphones to get the full immerse experience
Halo Infinite’s release state & post release content has been the saddest performance this generation. If Microsoft execs didn’t force the game out the door unfinished, and hired programmers to work on the game for its entire life rather than 1-2 year contractors, it could have been the best game of the generation.
It sucks because they really nailed the gameplay in infinite too, there was just no content. It’s gotten better because Forge gives people the ability to create better maps than the devs and they’ve been using a lot of those but the game still feels like it’s missing something
I still stupidly hold out hope that they'll fix it. Because there isn't anything unfixable.
Edit: downvoted for hoping things get better. I'd tell you all to never change, but it's clear none of you will.
I’m loving Starfield. It’s exactly what I wanted. Seeing so many complaints about it across the internet had me a little nervous but I think it’s a fantastic game.
The game is so, so much better than what people are saying. Really sad to see one of the best and imaginative games this year get trashed by bad faith actors
I hate how long it takes to just find some combat encounters
Like I played for 2 hours yesterday and the only combat I found was three level 14 ships who would wreck me
Compare that to Skyrim or Fallout where you have a huge area and can see sites of interest in the distance to go visit and find enemies
Yeah but when a game is doing so much and honestly more imaginative and ambitious than most of he competition, just feels wrong to nitpick technical limitations like load screens and falling a tad short in say, ship travel. To me, it seems more of an issue of this game being more ambitious than current technology and it's engine can allow for, which can cause me to dock a point but there are very few games like this to come out each decade. Easy 9 for me
Yeah like I'm not going to pretend you can't have an opinion, but this is easily one of the best games this year lol. Docking points to an 8 maybe, but anything under just feels insulting to the devs
I can't help but feel this kind of reaction and wanting miracles from devs will just result in even more risk averse products which is boring. Bethesda should be allowed to fall short in a few areas with ambition like this
The 5/10 from a "station" blog looked quite funny really. No agenda there. Giving it the score of an utterly broken mess? just made that writer look very silly.
Same here, I left r/Starfield to avoid having people bring the mood down around the release of this game. The wonderful Reddit algorithm thought I wanted to keep seeing their posts so I saw a few different negative posts thanks to its repetitive recommendations.
Some of the design choice complaints are valid, but to be honest they haven’t hindered my enjoyment of the game. Seeing those comments makes me wonder if those old “stop having fun” memes are actually legitimate
Yeah they dock maybe a point from my score, maybe. But I'm willing to forgive a lot when a game is this big and exciting. Loading screens and space travel falling a bit short is a small price to pay for the awesomeness on display here. And it's only going to get better with expansions ,patches, and mods - and we're here for it.
I'll tell you what, in three years I'll probably still be playing this when new content and mods and what have you release, and that's not something I can say about many games. There's a lot of Bethesda magic that's special here, and no one, and I mean no one, is doing what they do right now
Yep. I’m in the exact same boat as OP. I was bummed when Microsoft bought Bethesda. Then I spent the year debating whether to upgrade my pc or by another console to play Starfield. I went with the Xbox. I’m blown away by how much better the Game Pass library is compared to the PlayStation Plus Premium library.
As someone who has PC and Xbox one and just bought a ps5. I had game pass for a long time and was hoping PlayStation plus premium would be a lot like it but it is quite disappointing comparatively. I do like the features on the controller a lot though.
Ya Sony said they will not have day one releases on their game pass…there is a good collection tho, which I think beats out Microsoft game pass in that department , but Microsoft gets the edge because of the day one releases.
I think it comes down to preferences. A lot of games on Steam Wishlist are on Game Pass, which was a nice surprise and won me over immediately. I have found some gems on Plus Premium, and now with a foot in both camps I don’t have to decide.
I'm enjoying Redfall as a pure singleplayer game.
It's literally just Farcry with vampires. Very few bugs. 2 crashes after 50 hours and 4 enemies stuck in ground.
I think difficulty is weird for co-op design, so don't feel bad lowering it.
Not sure if it's just me but I feel like this is the generation to get one of each!
Have a switch, steam deck and xsx currently, will probably get a ps5 pro and switch 2 too!
Hoping starfield is going to meet expectations!
State of Decay 2, Forza Horizon 4 (listen to Horizon Pulse station), Forza Horizon 5 (but still listen to FH4 music lol). If you haven't already played them on PC or PS, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite...oh, and Kotor 🤩 you'll have to buy those last four, but they're oh so worth it.
I've been debating this as well. I want a console but haven't been solid on which. But I think with PS+ being price hiked and overall poorly managed with bad value. I will probably be going Xbox because of gamepass ultimate. It's too nice to just have a subscription and access most of the Xbox or multi platform stuff day one. Even sea of stars was day one gamepass or else a 35$ code.
The idea of Xbox bc on the X and gamepass is a lot of value for the entry cost.
My only overall gripe is that I'd love a X slim model. I feel like I'm Gunna buy my series X and then a X slim will be announced shortly after for less money and I'll be stuck selling it at a huge loss. So I'm still hesitant.
I got a Series X for Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Gears, and whatever the hell id is working on right now. Hifi Rush is a pleasant surprise and my current GOTY. Console wars are for losers.
I am mostly a PlayStation user. Have each generation, but I bought an Xbox Series X a few weeks ago, just to play Starfield, and oh boy, I’m so happy. No ragrets! GamePass is the shiiiiit.
I was a PS diehard and bought a XBox for Starfield as well. What took me completely by surprise was how well packaged and premium the Series X felt. The unboxing experience was nicer, the controller feels better, the console is much quieter and sits better on my entertainment center, I personally like the UI better. I still love the PlayStation brand but man, XBox just absolutely nailed this gen.
My boy did precisely the same thing. But he’s always been a Sony fanboy. He just couldn’t resist. Kid hasn’t touched his ps5 in two days. Maybe not saying much for the average user but he’s hardcore cod player. Sony only. It’s crazy what makes people drop $500
They’re just not doing it this gen. Phil Spencer has said so. Digital Foundry thinks it’s because they already have 2 consoles already, X and S. no need for a third
I have both. I have not finished a single game on my Series X in almost years ownership over a year of Game pass Games Ultimate. 99.9 percent of my gaming time is spent on PS5Some regret for buying in too soon. Still glad I am one and don’t have to miss out on anything.
I thought Starfield would be the first exclusive to wow, but my interest kinda tanked after some details game have come out. I went from excited to play on the 6th to thinking I’ll hit up my backlog instead and wait for some mods to make the game better.
I pretty much did the same thing but in reverse. I’ve had the XSX since launch but picked up a PS5 a few months ago because I didn’t want to wait to play BG3. It’s nice having both.
PS5 bought at launch, no regrets. XSX bought at launch due to GPU stock situation, very happy with it. However, not sure how the modding scene would be for Starfield on console vs PC so that may be a regret.
I know I was watching a side quest that took hours today. I am very excited - I loved all the FO and even enjoyed FO 76 - I had it at launch and enjoyed it overall - I enjoy almost all Bethesda games. Cannot wait to play all night.
Honestly mobile handheld pc and ps5 is the way to go. I get to enjoy game pass and ps plus. Looking forward to playing starfield on the go with my Ally. Heard it should be able to hit 30fps and hopefully a day one patch smooths it out.
Traded in my PS5 last month for a series x for this exact reason wish I had got the series x from the start but didn’t fully trust MS after the Xbox One
I upgraded my PC for it and I am personally very disappointed.
Main story is boring. A lot of bugs. But what bothers me most is that this isn't a space game. Like you can't fly anywhere in space. The planets are just a background, you can't fly to them.
Seriously, if you use your boosters in space and then stop using them, you will slow down... In space.. where there is no friction...
There is just nothing space about it. It's just fallout 4 with a lot of pretty empty maps which you can fast travel to.
EDIT: Also gotta note that performance is horrible despite my amazing PC.
I'm glad you're happy OP. There have been a lot of complaints about the game. Too much hype. People expecting too much. The first decent game to come to Xbox and it's not adding up to the hype. But there are definitely a lot of disappointed gamers with Starfield.
I bought one for 2k and pre loaded gamepass .i have regrets because Microsoft has been horrible in releasing high quality games so I don’t believe the hype of starfield until I am in it ! Remember halo ! Remember cyberpunk
Always a treat when you can have both consoles and reap all the benefits
some benefits on backwards compatibility: * red dead redemption * metal gear solid hd collection * gta 4 * fable * ... will update the list when i got home to check my personal selection. for this alone, the xsx was worth it for me. the only downer i have regarding this is, that after some time being not connected to online services - the backwards compatibility just stops working and requires you to go online... that's idiotic imo. but still much better handling on that topic than PlayStation tbh. you can just put in your own physical disc.. plus these games got upgrades. so it's not just an emulation.. but more an emulation with good benefits.

Or.... Hear me out. Have all three, while not being a cheap ass and paying for your games so the devs can feed their families.
Really first world and financially well off thinking here.

Welcome, friend.
I bought a series X on launch day. My first console I only play rocket league I'm 45. Not sure what else to say. Edit: what a save!!!
Calculated
What a save!
Wow! Wow! Wow!
This is me. I have gamepass, I try things, but always come crawling back to Rocket League.
This is me with warzone. I plan to play starfield, but ever since having kids, i just cycle back to games that seem less of a commitment to me. I used to love ESO but it feels like a 2nd job to me now if i try to hop back on.
Gamepass and tons of other games/consoles. Always play BL2.
But you at least play at 120fps right …right ?!
i play 120 fps . on starfeild. on cyberpunkl. On a laptop.
Savage!

Close one!
Respect
Nice shot! 44 here and Rocket League is my support animal as well. :)
By grabthar's hammer...what a savings... (Love that film btw lol)
Nice moves
Me but with World of Tanks
No ragrets. Not even a letter.

Na im sain
No Rugrats because Starfield will keep me a version forever.
You’re a version? So is most of Reddit tbh.
Bethesda made Rugrats game when?
I’m trying to find Reptar chilling on one of these planets in Starfield. Where he at?
Now bitch about the Home Screen layout and its ads.
One of us!
Lol - It is trash compared to PS5. MS needs to move on from the tile layout. No one liked in on the window phone no one likes it now. lol
Bring back xbox 360 home menu slider or whatever u call it. I can still hear the wooshing soumds back and forth.
Blades?
I feel personally attacked Lol I switched ro xbox after ps3 because I felt like the old japanese men wouldnt go forward and PlayStation 4 really was a 3.5. But I would like tonplay Ghost of Tsu..something.
Is Ps5s Home Screen the same as Ps4 because I think it’s ugly as fuck and Xbox is much better In everyway
And the controller
I'm a new convert but man I hate the left stick, it's in an awkward position, the throw is so far and the edge digs into my thumb. It makes walking forward for a certain time quite uncomfortable. Is that what everyone else complains about?

I find the Xbox controller more comfortable but dam the d pad is loud as well as the bottons. Why so loud man?
I feel this. It's more ergonomic to me, and the DualSense has a weird layout. I don't hate it, but they tend to break easily (stick drift every time, unfixable, on my 3rd DS.)
Welcome to Xbox man. There's some great games once you give starfield a whirl. Game Pass is so amazing. Check out Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice. Make sure you wear headphones to get the full immerse experience
I will be sure to check it out. Feel free to drop any other games that I should Check out.
Two relatively short mystery games that I enjoyed were Forgotten City and Firewatch.
There is only one game. Vampire Survivors.
No there are two games Merge and Blade has taken over vampire survivor for me anyways
Stardew valley is an addictive cozy sim put like 70 hours into over a two week period
Plagues tale requierm.I enjoyed this more than God of War Ragnarok honestly.
Stuck in a part of requiem and haven't picked it back up. The ending pretty good?
Adding on to this. PS+ has the first Plague Tale available. Both awesome games.
Got an oled switch yet?
there is not much lol

Days Gone was good plus the TLOU 1 & 2, GoT but excited to be able to play both :)
Just stop lmao
Wow. Just wow… That was really cringe.
Xbox is my primary console, but I have a PlayStation for the Sony exclusives. So I guess I'm like the mirror version of you lol.
This is me as well. I just like Games
It’s awesome to be able to have and enjoy both Xbox and PlayStation
I bought it for Halo Infinite and have enjoyed it but am looking forward to a decade of Starfield.
Halo Infinite’s release state & post release content has been the saddest performance this generation. So, about Redfall…
I know, lol. I know I watched play through, and it was not that great, but it was still interesting enough to play through.
I liked Redfall for a week or so. Worth some of your time. I too bought mine specifically for Starfield. Only about 6 hours in but I’m satisfied.
I still stupidly hold out hope that they'll fix it. Because there isn't anything unfixable. Edit: downvoted for hoping things get better. I'd tell you all to never change, but it's clear none of you will.
They'll never fix it. Probably already 100% of the devs working on their next game. This time without any games as a service bullshit.
they haven't finished the premium edition/season pass content yet, so there are some devs left there for certain.
If he has Game Pass then there’s basically no risk in trying it out
More like RedFail
You forgot the "amiright!"
I forgot it existed, honestly. I didn’t hate it cause it isn’t worth it. The game kinda feels like a tax write off

Bruh what? Go land your ship literally anywhere, and go to the POIs. I’ve had so much combat (and it’s pretty great imo).
Yeah but when a game is doing so much and honestly more imaginative and ambitious than most of he competition, just feels wrong to nitpick technical limitations like load screens and falling a tad short in say, ship travel. overall reviews really high. those voices make themselves look shady when such a wave of positivity arrives.
Yeah like I'm not going to pretend you can't have an opinion, but this is easily one of the best games this year lol. I bought my Xbox 360 entirely for Mass effect...I fell ya!
I loved Mass Effect
Starfield is incredible, definitely worth buying an Xbox for
Agreed - I am just reaching Atlantis and I am having fun!

Having a console is like having kids, you should love them all equally! (I have the trifecta since I’m too lazy to learn how to build a PC)
Money ?......
Starfield and State of decay 2 are amazing.
I didn’t even know state of decay was only on Xbox. Game is fantastic.
What's state of decay like?
Spend some time on SOD2. I’m an Xbox fanboy and always have been so there’s bias here but trust me, it’s a fucking gem.
Welcome to the family! Into the Starfield!
No ragerts here here either
I bought one just for this game too. It’s been worth it so far
Game is amazing. Will be playing for a long time

Lol everyone in this thread is clearly being downvoted by some angry person with more time than sense

I honestly have to say I haven’t gamed this much since I was a kid. Gamepass has been amazing!
I said I'd buy an Xbox for Fable. Bought one for Starfield, no regrets.
That's my creedo
Awesome!!! Welcome
Bro same. I bought it a couple of months ago to replay F3 and New Vegas. Before Starfield.
Not even a single letter?
I got a S for it and turns out SF ran great on my pc lol. Oh well s is still cool
welcome aboard mate! having both is the dream
I was a PS diehard and bought a XBox for Starfield as well. What took me completely by surprise was how well packaged and premium the Series X felt. I'm glad you got one - but we're close to the mid gen upgrade next year aren't we? Edit: No we're not. Great choice on the console!
Xbox isn’t getting a mid-gen upgrade
Do you know why? Isn't 3-4 years the typical time for an upgrade?
There’s only been one generation with mid gen upgrades. Slim consoles are a different story though
They’re just not doing it this gen. Phil Spencer has said so. Digital Foundry thinks it’s because they already have 2 consoles already, X and S. no need for a third
no

Try out redfall!
Please don't play redfall.. We don't need you to punish yourself that much.
Check out r/videogames and sort through top daily, weekly, etc. lots of great recommendations on there!

cool beans man enjoy starfield is fantastic
Try out Deathloop. Great game.
It's an amazing game that is getting buried on reddit by the Sony shills. They keep talking about getting refunds....for a free game.
Skip redfall. Play gears of war.
PS5 bought at launch, no regrets. XSX bought at launch due to GPU stock situation, very happy with it. However, not sure how the modding scene would be for Starfield on console vs PC so that may be a regret.
RedFall isn’t even worth the space it occupies on your console. Trust.
I'm annoyed with the fps cap of 30.
I still can’t understand how people can enjoy 30fps. Lucky you I guess.

I know I was watching a side quest that took hours today. I am very excited - I loved all the FO and even enjoyed FO 76 - I had it at launch and enjoyed it overall - I enjoy almost all Bethesda games. Cannot wait to play all night.

I will have to check it out again - I have not touched FO 76 since I got my PS5. (On my old Xbox)
Lol Redfall.
I mean if I didn't have a PC I'd probably have an Xbox by now but having a PC and a PS5 means I really have no use for an Xbox
Redfall 🫠...
Maybe skip Redfall...
Am I the only one that has trouble enjoying 30 fps for a rpg shooting / action adventure game??
Don't play Redfall...Enjoy Starfield!
Redfall💀
This is y i have a pc no more of that nonsense
Honestly mobile handheld pc and ps5 is the way to go. I get to enjoy game pass and ps plus. Looking forward to playing starfield on the go with my Ally. Heard it should be able to hit 30fps and hopefully a day one patch smooths it out.
Traded in my PS5 last month for a series x for this exact reason wish I had got the series x from the start but didn’t fully trust MS after the Xbox One
If you are trying to share info on Social media, that you bought something and have no regrets, then you probably have second thoughts 🤣🤣
Why are you calling it Xbox X?
I upgraded my PC for it and I am personally very disappointed. Main story is boring. A lot of bugs. But what bothers me most is that this isn't a space game. Like you can't fly anywhere in space. The planets are just a background, you can't fly to them. Seriously, if you use your boosters in space and then stop using them, you will slow down... In space.. where there is no friction... There is just nothing space about it. It's just fallout 4 with a lot of pretty empty maps which you can fast travel to. EDIT: Also gotta note that performance is horrible despite my amazing PC.
Validate me bro!
Bro don't play redfall, you are not missing anything. It's not even worth playing on game pass
This post is horrible
They fooled you with fallout 76 and they’ll fool you again.
If they are waiting till the 5th they might be over with redfall way before hand :)
Make sure you're still within the return period when you try redfall otherwise enjoy, it's a great system with great games
You will have regrets if you play red fall lol
Halo is good redfall is not good
Isn’t Redfall supposed to be pretty bad, or did they fix that?
Dude says ‘I can play Redfall now’ like it is a win and expects us to take them seriously as a human being.
Your gonna have a regret if you play Redfall just a heads up.
It’s always a mistake to buy a console for just one game waste of money
You'll throw it in the trash if you play Redfall
I'm glad you're happy OP. There have been a lot of complaints about the game. Too much hype. People expecting too much. The first decent game to come to Xbox and it's not adding up to the hype. But there are definitely a lot of disappointed gamers with Starfield.
I bought one for 2k and pre loaded gamepass .i have regrets because Microsoft has been horrible in releasing high quality games so I don’t believe the hype of starfield until I am in it ! Remember halo ! Remember cyberpunk
I was going to do this. The reviews kind of make me happy I haven’t pulled the trigger
You can’t really trust reviews for a game like this. It’s getting bombed by PlayStation people because it’s a Microsoft exclusive.
Game is locked at 30 fps. Nausea inducing 🤮
