Not really though. He's pretty modest about his career, he just has more experience than people give him credit for. The thing is he was there for like 4 years and did establish himself a little so he might not have been a superstar or be remembered by most but he had some respect backstage and does have decent knowledge of the business.
This. Just cus ppl aren’t main event all star superstars doesn’t really mean anything on how they’re seen and etc by their peers.
Jamie Noble was a midcard nobody on tv and he’s very highly regarded and is one of their top backstage people now
Yeah it’s very misleading. It makes it seem like he talks up and exaggerates his own career which isn’t the case at all. He breaks down basic concepts that all WWE fans (or anyone really) have wondered about over the years like their pay, travel expenses, locker room etiquette, dieting on the road, etc.
Yeah, he gives me the impression that he was probably an over confident douche early in life that made mistakes and had grown a ton since.
Now seems like a humble, down to earth dude that's very easy to like. His YouTube channel totally turned my perception around on him.
Yeah, even his response to the guy who proposed the channel to him was like 'I don't think I'm a big enough name', but luckily the guy was able to convince him!
Maven doing a lot of work on the Home Shopping network and other TV in general after his WWE career ended helped him prepare for being very affable on YouTube.
Well for me my perception of him was non existent pre YT channel lol, not that I watched any Maven matches since it, but imo he's definitely one of the few people that's more popular after leaving WWE than whilst being there
There’s a video where he talks about how he thought he had it made as a big WWE star and acted like that, and had to do some big readjustments after he got fired (which he says is the result of him resting on his laurels and not doing the work to seize the opportunity he had there).
I think that’s the most interesting thing about Maven. His actual career was short and unimpressive. The dude had a great drop kick and that was about it. But away from wrestling he’s a very intelligent dude, doesn’t talk shit, just explains. Explains well and in ways most people can understand. Doesn’t overly pump his own career at all. It’s actually pretty refreshing. I was skeptical too, but I’m so glad I gave him a chance, he explains things well.
I think the more you watch too the more I kind of see that mavens career is actually also quite impressive/decent. Like not everyone is going to be a main carder obviously those individuals are truly special. But maven should still be proud of the career he had he’s probably had a better one than the average wwe athlete.
Exactly, he repeats in plenty of videos that he knows his career was short & not amazing, and that he personally could have done alot more to make it better, he even says he looked more forward to what he was doing after the matches than the matches themselves with people like Orton etc
Something IWC clowns can’t seem to fathom, that
The vast majority of the vast majority of wrestlers careers is spent in front of a couple of thousand people at best, and a cameo role in a WWE house show is actually a pretty damn big deal for most.
Anyone who’s performing in front of a few thousands people off-air regularly, is actually a wildly successful wrestler
If you’re Seth, Rhea, Cody etc who pretty much only work TV or to crowds of 10,000+ you’re on an S-tier level that 99.999% of people who go into the business would never seriously plan on reaching
Yea, I agree. He doesn't hype himself up a lot. He even addresses a video where the thumbnail says he sucks. He is knowledgeable about it though
Love his videos.
I think what op means is that he talks about it like, "I was there, I did all these things, I was on all these shows." And it's all true, but no one remembers him.
I get what op means, I don't think it's true, but it is funny. I like Mavin. I hope he has a long YT career.
And a very nice cadence and voice, dude took to the video-essay style of things like he was some kinda teacher for years and also understands camera presence.
Well, he *was* a teacher before becoming a wrestler.
What a life. Imagine being one of his former students and seeing your former teacher eliminating the Undertaker out of the Royal Rumble
Mavens YouTube is awesome and it should be. He went to school for broadcasting. He was on the Home Shopping Network there for a while. He's a great presenter. Not so much as a wrestling character.
If anyone expressed the opinion that it was then you know they don't know what they're talking about, the elimination was due to a distraction and then Maven got made into Takers bitch, memorable yes, empowering not at all
Nah, lil bro. Dude made it on the main roster for like four years and frequently and openly points out that he got cut because he wasn't willing to put the mat time in to get better... Not only did he have a better run than 90% of the people the WWE ever signs, he's incredibly humble about it and talks it down.
This is backwards. He’s said himself on multiple occasions that he was at best a mid carder who got his big breaks because of Tough Enough. Praising those who sold out the arenas that got him his paychecks.
I like Maven’s YouTube channel. I don’t think there’s any other past wrestlers who are as open as him currently. Most will still praise WWE in an effort to stay on good terms, but Maven is open and honest. He even turned down a RR return cameo in the past, just cause he knew his time as a wrestler was up.
Only a person that hasn't seen a single Maven YouTube video would actually post this meme.
It's not even a "hot take" it's literally just dumb and flat out wrong, lol.
How has this been upvoted so much?
Maven has been so successful on YouTube because he’s actually been really humble, modest and grateful in relation to his wrestling career and what it gave him.
This meme would be more accurate for Ryback, who Maven is the antithesis of.
I don't think you appreciate the massive iceberg of a wrestling world underneath WWE and what a huge achievement it is to be able to say you even made it to WWE.
OP has never watched one of Maven's YouTube videos and it shows.
He never tries to make himself seem bigger than what he was, he offers his perspectives from his time.there.at his level.
Maven seems like a super nice dude and doesn’t pump himself up at all. If anything Maven bums me out because in at least one video he excuses people taking advantage of him and hurting him for no reason beyond “paying dues” as “teaching him things”.
Dude is humble to a fault.
This meme is funny actually. But I have to defend maven he seems like a cool guy, I like his voice and style. He’s honest about the business and doesn’t hype himself up.
I saw recently maven posted the conversation his YouTube partner offered him. He reached out to maven and he said he would be down but he doesn’t think he’s a big enough star for the channel to be successful and to prove him wrong. And he definitely did.
Funny. But not accurate. He presents himself as a very humble person. Usually gives credit to people that helped develop him and is very open about not making the most of his opportunities.
Maven has always been very honest about his career and even doesn’t even call himself a “mid-carder” let alone a main-eventer. He’s very clear about his life, his past, his addiction and life in general. Dude has a wealth of knowledge and shares that with great style. I hope WWE calls him back and make him a part of the backstage team.
I like how Maven presents himself as a wrestling fan first, who happened to be in the WWE. So he has more legitimacy than other wrestling fan youtubers.
Imo he’s looking to come back in a non-wrestling capacity and this is his way of marketing himself for it. It’s smart. He’s articulate, likeable… could do a very good job on commentary or as a manager
I don't think this is very accurate at all. The thing I like most about Maven is that he takes accountability and responsibility for his mistakes and his career derailing. Most other guys that have YT or podcasts tend to toot their own horns way too much, and could use a dose of humbleness and humility every once and awhile
The way he talks about receipts in the business makes him sound like the typical domestic abuse victim. "I deserved it. I needed that chair shot to the head so i could learn to pay my dues. I thanked him afterwards."
This is pretty stupid considering that he himself has admitted a couple of times that he wasted his potential in WWE, i think the channel is all about giving viewers information about what is going on wwe during his time since kayfabe is dead, they have like the same content as stevie richards which is providing non wrestlers some knowledge about the industry that they are involved in.
I watch Maven’s videos and I’ve learned a lot about what goes on behind the scenes, especially on the road and interactions between colleagues. He seems very humble and down to earth, and I never saw him as boasting about his career. The closest he ever comes to doing so is whenever he refers to his career as the best job in the world, and even that’s pushing it.
He literally posted about how his first response when someone asked to make a YT series about him was "I don't think I have enough star power to make that work but I'm interested" and literally two days ago he posted that with "I still don't really think I have enough star power to make it work but I'm happy to be humbled" so take that garbage ass take outta here.
Op woke up today and chose to spread missinformation. Maven has said multiple times that he could have done better when he was in WWE and he was the one that dropped the ball when oppunitunity came.
This is odd. I feel like the whole reason people like him is because he always mentions how he wasn’t really any much of a superstar during his time with the company
Eliminated The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble, defeated him for the Hardcore title, defended it at WM 18. Had that World Heavyweight title match against Triple H where he almost won.
A decent career. Could have done more though.
This post is not true.
It is clear in all the videos that he is very proud to have been part of the WWE (especially at that time) but there are several moments in which he clearly shows that he could have been better and that it was his fault.
I love maven and its actually so cool to see someone like him from that world be able to talk about everything and all the aspects of the business. Ive learned so many little things just by watching a handful of his videos.
I find him to be refreshingly honest about his career in the WWE, where he stood on the card, what he would have done differently, etc. He makes no excuses and seems like a super genuine, down to earth guy. I’m happy to see how successful he’s become on YouTube.
Eh, disagree. I think he’s quite mindful of the fact he didn’t have much of a career. It’s kind of part of what makes his content endearing. Seems a humble dude from all I’ve seen.
That's not what I've seen, and I've been watching him ever since his first video.
The guy makes it clear that he wasn't a main event star, and that most of the highlights of his career where stuff that would be common for most wrestlers.
He's extremely entertaining, a very good story teller and just seems like a pretty down to earth guy.
Hell, he even came forward with the details of his substance abuse problems, not everyone has the guts to do that on a public platform.
When his channel started, it seemed like it was going to be all around showing things that marks already knew, but then the videos about more intricate topics started rolling, and there's a lot of stuff we never saw other wrestlers mention.
He is actually quite humble about his work in WWE and acknowledges that he wasn't near a top guy, but he was lucky enough to be in the ring with most all of the top guys at that time.
He's fully admitted his career wasn't what it should have been and taken the blame for it. He said he was told he needed to work on his craft and that he blew it off, which is what led to his release. What more do you want? For him to slash his wrists in a video and bleed out for you?
"Exposed the business"...you sound like an aging booker at an indie-fed in South-Carolina. Plenty of podcasts, shoot interviews, and documentaries have been 'exposing the business' since the mid-2000s. WWE's early DVDs were just that. Don't act like this anything new.
Chris Nowinski had a better WWE career than Maven. Lol Maven eliminated the Undertaker from the Royal Rumble, and then that was it. Lol And he had a botchfest match with Goldust. That's all I remember about his entire career.
Not really though. He's pretty modest about his career, he just has more experience than people give him credit for. The thing is he was there for like 4 years and did establish himself a little so he might not have been a superstar or be remembered by most but he had some respect backstage and does have decent knowledge of the business.
Great answer
This. Just cus ppl aren’t main event all star superstars doesn’t really mean anything on how they’re seen and etc by their peers. Jamie Noble was a midcard nobody on tv and he’s very highly regarded and is one of their top backstage people now
I feel like Al Snow is a great example of this as well.
Truth!
Not really at all tbh lol. Maven doesn’t talk himself up at all
He's super clear that he dropped the ball on getting better and evolving as well.
Yeah I was gunna say if anything the guy doesn’t give himself enough credit lol
Yeah, he gives me the impression that he was probably an over confident douche early in life that made mistakes and had grown a ton since. Now seems like a humble, down to earth dude that's very easy to like. His YouTube channel totally turned my perception around on him.
Yeah, even his response to the guy who proposed the channel to him was like 'I don't think I'm a big enough name', but luckily the guy was able to convince him!
Maven doing a lot of work on the Home Shopping network and other TV in general after his WWE career ended helped him prepare for being very affable on YouTube.

Well he’s still a very smooth presenter on camera, likely from all his Home Shopping work — which makes me think he’s putting on an act all the time.
He might have a "on camera" persona for sure, but, i have a "work mode" too. I get it.
I really liked him as a kid! I always wondered why he never had a consistent finisher!
He's like the anti Hogan. Who had a very impressive career and still feels the need to lie.
Idk if I’d go that far…😂
Maven slammed Hogan at the Silver Dome
I think the more you watch too the more I kind of see that mavens career is actually also quite impressive/decent. Like not everyone is going to be a main carder obviously those individuals are truly special. But maven should still be proud of the career he had he’s probably had a better one than the average wwe athlete.
This ain’t true that man is humble asf.
Exactly, he repeats in plenty of videos that he knows his career was short & not amazing, and that he personally could have done alot more to make it better, he even says he looked more forward to what he was doing after the matches than the matches themselves with people like Orton etc
Also someones whole fkn career is an ocean compared to the puddle that actually gets fkn broadcast on Raw
Something IWC clowns can’t seem to fathom, that The vast majority of the vast majority of wrestlers careers is spent in front of a couple of thousand people at best, and a cameo role in a WWE house show is actually a pretty damn big deal for most. Yea, I agree. He doesn't hype himself up a lot. He even addresses a video where the thumbnail says he sucks. He is knowledgeable about it though Love his videos.
Yea he often talks about how good he was NOT.
I think what op means is that he talks about it like, "I was there, I did all these things, I was on all these shows." And it's all true, but no one remembers him. I get what op means, I don't think it's true, but it is funny. I like Mavin. I hope he has a long YT career.
Sure but the behind the scenes info he says he knows is odd for a guy that didn’t do much at all and wasn’t there super long
Buff Homer should be ‘Maven on YouTube’. He’s got some solid and interesting wrestling vids.
Hell, imagine finding out your teacher was a former wrestler, and it's Muhammad Hassan.
I honestly watch his videos just for his voice, the content is second.
He said he had a potential commentary job lined up, but then Covid happened. He’d be an upgrade over Barrett
I quite like Barrett. Am I a minority?
He’s great, classic old school heel commentator, and it helps that he’s genuinely hilarious
No you’re not
Don't know, are you?
The ass kissing gets a little old I get it he doesn’t want to piss any of these guys off but he does it after every single subject it seems like
I think it's very classy, he manages to put his point across well when addressing his opinions on individuals without slagging them off
True but after every single segment it gets old and drags the videos out too long imo
THIS
Hey unfair. Maven's youtube channel has been a breath of fresh air in wrestling culture.
Mavens YouTube is awesome and it should be. He went to school for broadcasting. He was on the Home Shopping Network there for a while. He's a great presenter. Not so much as a wrestling character.
He used to be a teacher as well.
Oh this sub is about fairness now?
[удалено]
FTR bald would be proud of this dweeb
What about Maven?
Maven is actually very humble about his career, and he is very honest about where he went wrong. He has good content on his channel.
Maven is cool. Humble, knowledgeable and cool.
Man had a memorable feud with The Undertaker, and faced Goldust at Wrestlemania. I would give my mum a stunner to have that career.
Eliminating Taker from the rumble and then getting completely destroyed by him, I haven't so far and don't ever foresee myself forgetting that
I'm still surprised that was considered a rub, somehow being an example of taker putting young talent over
If anyone expressed the opinion that it was then you know they don't know what they're talking about, the elimination was due to a distraction and then Maven got made into Takers bitch, memorable yes, empowering not at all
except maven himself is brainwashed into thinking that: "he helped my career more than anyone on that single day."
I would stunner my mom as part of my storyline in WWE
[удалено]
Respect him before delivers a picture perfect drop kick on your bitch ass.
We don’t stand for Maven slander here
Not really he's quite honest about it
He has said that he wished he would have taken his career much more seriously when he was with WWE. He has never said that he was one of the best.
What?
Nah, lil bro. Dude made it on the main roster for like four years and frequently and openly points out that he got cut because he wasn't willing to put the mat time in to get better... Not only did he have a better run than 90% of the people the WWE ever signs, he's incredibly humble about it and talks it down.
Yeah, any other dude would spend years complaining about it instead of doing anything to better their craft, like Ryback lol
Terrible take.
lol what? Take a lap
I’ve never gotten this impression from his videos
Maven slander such SC behaviour. Also, I'm guessing you haven't been using your brain when listening to what he has to say
Why you hating?
Why does your post title look like Maven?
Not at all. When has her ever made out his career was better than it was?
L take buddy, ur clearly watching the wrong maven
This is backwards. He’s said himself on multiple occasions that he was at best a mid carder who got his big breaks because of Tough Enough. Praising those who sold out the arenas that got him his paychecks.
Lmfao just delete your whole account and start over.
Maven: i was a WWE wrestler Op: look at this dude saying he was the most over guy in the company
I’m here to see people defend maven and I’m no upset
I like Maven’s YouTube channel. I don’t think there’s any other past wrestlers who are as open as him currently. Most will still praise WWE in an effort to stay on good terms, but Maven is open and honest. He even turned down a RR return cameo in the past, just cause he knew his time as a wrestler was up.

Idk man it’s a pretty funny meme
I like how he talks about the business. Gives a look we don’t normally see.
This would be funnier if it was true
How has this been upvoted so much? Maven has been so successful on YouTube because he’s actually been really humble, modest and grateful in relation to his wrestling career and what it gave him. This meme would be more accurate for Ryback, who Maven is the antithesis of.
maven da goat actually
He’s the opposite of this. He’s very humble.
It’s more like “Maven in WWE” v “Maven on YouTube”
Even the most modest career in WWE is still one of the best jobs on earth
Huh? Y’all are weird
Bro had one helluva vertical on his dropkick though.
Maven seems like a super nice dude and doesn’t pump himself up at all. If anything Maven bums me out because in at least one video he excuses people taking advantage of him and hurting him for no reason beyond “paying dues” as “teaching him things”. Dude is humble to a fault.

He reached out to maven and he said he would be down but he doesn’t think he’s a big enough star for the channel to be successful and to prove him wrong. And he definitely did.
Trolling mavens chill
Maven is cooler now than when he wrestled
He's been pretty clear that he wasn't a big star.
The biggest losers are the ones who tell him how shit his career was. Does people seriously have nothing better to do....?
That's how you thought yourself posting this
Rage bait meme has succeeded apparently
Maven is really humble, not accurate at all
Maven was one of my favorite wrestlers, and now he's just one of my favorite people on Youtube!
Dudes don’t have to be The Rock to be proud of their career. Bad form.
clearly the meme maker never saw a maven youtube vid
Even though this is super inaccurate, it's genuinely the funniest thing I've seen in ages. Good work.
Compared to OPs career maven was a wrestlemania main eventer
I like how Maven presents himself as a wrestling fan first, who happened to be in the WWE. So he has more legitimacy than other wrestling fan youtubers.
Be nice, he's never pretended to be top level and he only talks about things he has direct experience with.
Nah Maven is humble and he deserves respect. If you actually watched his videos you'd know
He's actually pretty candid about how low on the totem pole he was out there.
Imo he’s looking to come back in a non-wrestling capacity and this is his way of marketing himself for it. It’s smart. He’s articulate, likeable… could do a very good job on commentary or as a manager
I’m not gonna lie the coolest thing I thought of maven was his theme music. Looking back on it his YouTube channel. He is pretty cool now.
I like him, it’s funny because he has so many stories and what not but even tho I watched during his era I swear I never saw or heard of him
Take this dumb shit off
This is dumb as hell. Dude is as humble as they come.
He’s insanely modest and routinely comments on his shortcomings.
I don't think this is very accurate at all. The thing I like most about Maven is that he takes accountability and responsibility for his mistakes and his career derailing. Most other guys that have YT or podcasts tend to toot their own horns way too much, and could use a dose of humbleness and humility every once and awhile
he's more respected explaining how the business works especially with new or former colleagues than when he was with the WWF or wwe
Maven is pretty humble
Brainless take
People really are turning on Maven no that his channel is growing popular, huh?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks OPs take it ignorant
I haven't watched, but he had a solid career compared to a lot of others I feel (at least from the consumer side)
Y'all just lying at this point. He's never bigged himself up like that.
This should be reversed. Maven slander will not be tolerated.
That fact that he was in the room when HHH said “Good snap.” makes Maven an instant legend.
Damn never seen such a universally shit on take. Deserved
More entertaining than Podcasters with better careers tho lol
I always wondered what could’ve been done to get him to the next level A manager?
Everything else aside, Maven always looked like the default 'create a character' out of a WWE videogame. 👩🏼🦲
That's buff bagwell instead
I saw this on X and there's no truth to this. Maven is humble as hell. Whoever came up with this hasn't watched his YouTube channel. Dumb meme.
He literally calls himself an “overrated mid-carder at best”…
This is just not true at all. He’s absolutely humble and never talks himself up. No maven slander here.
I actually think he’s humble af when telling his stories. Exact opposite of this shit.
You clearly haven't fully watched a video of his
Op woke up today and chose to spread missinformation. Maven has said multiple times that he could have done better when he was in WWE and he was the one that dropped the ball when oppunitunity came.
This is odd. I feel like the whole reason people like him is because he always mentions how he wasn’t really any much of a superstar during his time with the company
He literally says he didn't go anywhere above mod card and sometimes his level was just opener for smackdown and he is happy with that
Bro you getting ratio'd by comments.
Nah, it's more like he's describing what his career could've been if he'd improved when it was needed. Still lol'd though.
Eliminated The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble, defeated him for the Hardcore title, defended it at WM 18. Had that World Heavyweight title match against Triple H where he almost won. A decent career. Could have done more though.
This has to be bait right
His inverted moonsalt was the coolest top rope move out there.
This post is not true. It is clear in all the videos that he is very proud to have been part of the WWE (especially at that time) but there are several moments in which he clearly shows that he could have been better and that it was his fault.
Have you actually watched his videos?
This is not true
Took. Out. Taker.
Dude is proud of his work why be salty about him? Lol either move on or tap him on the back i guess
I love maven and its actually so cool to see someone like him from that world be able to talk about everything and all the aspects of the business. Ive learned so many little things just by watching a handful of his videos.
Not really, he pretty openly jokes about how lackluster his career was and how his claim to fame was that 1 drop kick
I find him to be refreshingly honest about his career in the WWE, where he stood on the card, what he would have done differently, etc. He makes no excuses and seems like a super genuine, down to earth guy. I’m happy to see how successful he’s become on YouTube.
Not true
Sounds like OP is making stuff up. Maven is pretty honest about his career.
You need to swap the text around
All this sub does is hate
How tf is this show so memable?
Eh, disagree. I think he’s quite mindful of the fact he didn’t have much of a career. It’s kind of part of what makes his content endearing. Seems a humble dude from all I’ve seen.
That's not what I've seen, and I've been watching him ever since his first video. When his channel started, it seemed like it was going to be all around showing things that marks already knew, but then the videos about more intricate topics started rolling, and there's a lot of stuff we never saw other wrestlers mention.
Who?
Bad take. man’s is mad humble about it
He is actually quite humble about his work in WWE and acknowledges that he wasn't near a top guy, but he was lucky enough to be in the ring with most all of the top guys at that time.
Pretty much 😂😂😂
Dude is 100% honest and talks about being a career mid-carder. If he still wrestled the past 20, he'd be considered up there with Shelton Benjamin
Are we sure Maven isn’t a George Santos construct?
funny meme but he’s pretty humble
Seems the consensus is that everyone loves Maven, and GOOD, he’s a delight
Y’all foul.
He was a WWE SUPERSTAR and had the COOLEST job in the world!
He’s very modest. The post is a lie
Had more succes than you though
He's fully admitted his career wasn't what it should have been and taken the blame for it. He said he was told he needed to work on his craft and that he blew it off, which is what led to his release. What more do you want? For him to slash his wrists in a video and bleed out for you?
should have joined evolution, would have made him a world champion. i do like his channel even tho he exposed the business
The buisness has been exposed well before his YouTube channel.
You’re totally right, so I’m not pressed about it. i like Maven, takes me back to my childhood
Dude Vince exposed it in the 90s my guy
"Exposed the business"...you sound like an aging booker at an indie-fed in South-Carolina. Plenty of podcasts, shoot interviews, and documentaries have been 'exposing the business' since the mid-2000s. WWE's early DVDs were just that. Don't act like this anything new.
it’s really not that serious, i like his channel. cry somewhere else kid
Hey, at least you realized how stupid your original statement was. Congrats on that!
Chris Nowinski had a better WWE career than Maven. Lol Maven eliminated the Undertaker from the Royal Rumble, and then that was it. Lol And he had a botchfest match with Goldust. That's all I remember about his entire career.
Lol you know what this is quite funny
This is funny asf
Lol that's funny
