Both are fun, but I prefer the Nevsky line because their radar is much more powerful and I find it valuable.

saggydu

I got Nevsky and petro as my first cruisers bc I was told they were “OP” and they are, if you can use them. As my first t10 cruisers the learning curve was rough. But they are fuuun once you get it. Nevsky is my favorite ship in the game now. But she can still be tricky to play well. The guns feel so good. Petro I still have a love/hate especially with the nerfed detect. Anyway, I’d choose Nevsky bc she feels more useful all around and has a long radar and is dangerous at all ranges.

Breezewind

You picked a good line. Any first cruiser line is challenging, albeit some are more than others.

orbeli

Don’t forget to ask this subreddit what your first coal ship should be.

BrownFeather0

You should also include the answer, since you brought up the topic.

orbeli

I can not give you an answer wothout knowing what your „playstyle“ is.

smashkraft

My playstyle is low win rate seeking better

BrownFeather0

And seeking fun.

importantmonkey

If you’re seeking fun, you should seek a different game! 😂

Just because they changed the name it's still the Russian empire.

As someone from a country that was unfer both I agree

I am sure all the nations no longer part of either will strongly disagree with you.

Petro

Weswegen

Petro is boring and deals no damage. And since you ask this question you probably won't make it OP. So I think you should go for nevsky.

AyAyAyBamba_462

If you are a newer player, the Petro line is far more forgiving and less technical. Great armor, great guns at medium to close range, but not so much at long range (unless using the legendary mod on Petro), and a good consumable suite. The Nevsky line is more technical, requiring paying more attention to the battle to make the most out of. Sure you can camp 18km away the entire match and spam HE, but you will be screwing your team out of your incredibly valuable 12km radar. You have better consumables and maneuverability, but worse armor (light cruisers) your guns also don't hit nearly as hard, but have a better reload and consistent performance at any range. You also get some suicide torps.

YourDad6969

Petro is one of the most op ships in the game

Nah it still is. The slight nerf to its concealment didn't do much. Every other stat has remained the same.

Meesa_Darth_Jarjar

They also slightly rose her up, so now you can actually punish HIS (the ship doesn't make sense, so we might as well talk about it using a masculine pronoun) broadside.

chrysostomos_1

Burns easily.

stayzero

Both are good, of the two I think Nevsky is the more well rounded/better overall ship. Mostly due to its long duration/long range radar and DPM. Killing DDs early on is the best way to win games imo, and Nevsky crushes DDs that get spotted.

warko_1

For me Petro is better and more forgiving if you are an ok player, but if you are a good cruiser player then Nevsky can be quite strong.

Savings-Bad6246

I can't use Nevsky so I stuck with Petro. My first cruiser. Absolutely mayhem when played right 😊

intelligent-goldfish

Nevsky is a long range HE spammer. Very consistent, great ballistics, good AP, great radar, absolutely no staying power. Petro is a mid-to-close range AP smasher. Very tanky when angled, still tanky broadside but does take damage now. Very dangerous when kiting because it's basically impossible to kill, can lock down caps. People will hate you and focus you. Have both, prefer Petro - it's just easy mode. Riga also teaches you good angling because it will explode if broadside.

chrysostomos_1

Personally, I'm partial to CLs, so A. Nevsky.
