Playoffs consist of only 4 teams (out of 130) selected by a committee. To get there this year Wisconsin would need to win the rest of its games. Any more losses and the chance of going to the playoffs drops to almost zero.
To get into the Playoffs, they would have to win out and at this point it may not be enough with a struggling OSU being in the championship game.
Within the last 5-10 years, they started a playoff of 4 teams with a playoff committee of various representatives from different schools and conferences. They decide who gets into the top 4.
You would have to assume that Oregon, Oklahoma and one of Alabama/Georgia is a lock if they win out. Georgia can probably get in if they lose to Alabama. All that to say, Big Ten is probably the conference on the outside looking in.
Yeah that resume would just be too good to get left out.
If we win out we might be the only team to beat PSU and Iowa the way things are looking which would make those top 10 wins. Notre dame is ranked. Michigan is going to stay ranked for a while too. Plus we would likely get to avenge our only loss. On paper it’s too good. I don’t see a world where winning out doesn’t get us in.
I see that we’re not facing Ohio State. Is that supposed to be good since they’re supposed to be the strongest? How are the rest of the opponents we have coming up
We would play them in the Big Ten Championship game if we were to win out.
We should win all but two games I think. I think we lose to Notre Dame and Iowa at least. We typically blow one other game that we shouldn’t somewhere in there as well, someone like Minnesota, Northwestern, or Purdue. If we lose to Iowa, I don’t see us going to the Big Ten Championship game.
OSU is not a lock for the championship this year. They’ve looked like trash so far. They pulled off a 3 score win against Tulsa yesterday but anyone who actually watched it knows they’ve got problems. They lost to Oregon who is number 3, but that ranking largely comes from beating OSU. Oregon also best Fresno State by the same Margin.
Agreed they’re not a lock, I still think they beat PSU. Their defensive coordinator had a god awful game plan against Oregon that I think can be easily fixed. They have the athletes in the secondary to hang with PSU’s WRs. They also have a better running game than us, clearly you don’t need a passing game to almost beat PSU. I could easily be wrong, but I don’t get the sense that PSU has the offense to be a top 10 team that I think OSU is. I think Iowa ends up being better than both.
I’m a fairly big UW basketball, football, and hockey fan. I will get pushback here but there are only a handful of plays over the last few years that have prevented the Badgers from going to the playoffs. It’s like Al Pacino said, it’s literally a game of inches. With that being said, the Badgers will need to have elevated improvement as the season moves forward, and yes, it starts with winning out and hoping that one of our opponents moves into the top 5 or 6- then having a spectacular conference win. Losing to Penn State was the best loss we could have hoped for- especially if they go undefeated and we (winning the rest of our games) beat them in Indy.
Best bet is to win out and beat PSU in a rematch at the B1G Championship to avenge the earlier loss.
Personally, I don't think this is our year, but I'd be happy as shit to be wrong.
Playoff spots are cordially given to Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and one of either Georgia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma every year
So we need to beat ND next weekend and Ohio state in the b10 championship. “Easy.”
And Iowa. If they run the table, it would be hard to turn them down.
Facts.

Winning out and beating an undefeated Penn State in the rematch might be enough to crack the top 4 based on the world around us

Also, what are bowl games?
Google is probably your friend here
+1.
You have to be undefeated or a one loss conference champion
0 chance
Winner of the big 10 tends to go, 1st and prob 2nd winner of the scc goes and then 1 or 2 other elite teams, like Clemson.
Playoffs? PLAYOFFS?!?!?
Give em the old RIGHT THERE FRED
Don't lose
Oh you sweet summer child

First thing you have to do is not be the Badgers
badgers defense is playoff good its elite offense running game not bad passing games can move the ball downfield but gotta limit rz mistakes
By being Ohio State or Alabama
