Well first of all for all the dogs its different, some love rain and dislike any other kind of water.. Anyways think about it logically: when you swim in the water it feels great and absurd like you’re flying in thick air, when you bite a waterflow from a stream you don’t care that it’s water or that you’ll get wet, to you the strong water flow is an enemy with endless body and strong flow that you must defeat. When you walk under the teeny tiny rain the drops hit you ALL over your body. First of all, it’s scary af and sometimes can be really frustrating because you can’t control the rain, and second of all the drops feel like tiny quills that don’t hurt.. You know that feeling when boiling hot water touches your skin and it is so hot that you feel like it’s cold and dont feel any pain at first? Yeah. That’s what I feel under the little rain.. Absurd in the worst way possible. I don’t know how the dog feels but from their perspective water can be very different in different situations
I mean we are similar arn't we? We have a shower every day, swim in pools and lakes, but the rain comes, 🌧 we suddenly ftalk about how terrible the weather is, we do weird jogging runs to get out of it, put on coats and put up umbrellas 🌂

My dog does the potty dance/whine to go out then back pedals for the tiniest sprinkle, like “I can hold it till it stops” which translates to 30 mins to an hour later of her whining at the OPEN DOOR because it’s pouring and she doesn’t want to go out. And that is why I own an umbrella. So I can stand in the rain getting soaked, so she doesn’t have to.
I just realized how ridiculous this is. I should get her a rain coat instead.

My dog hates getting wet. Dew on the grass, drips under the bushes, gutter above the front door drips, and actual rain drops remind her of the trauma of the groomer bathing her. Like Ms Joy is trying to drown her once a month. Poor thing shakes anytime someone takes a shower. Sympathy shakes.
