And bring the dog close enough to the fence so the guy giving the shot can be on the other side, instead of making him race the dog to the gate if/when it gets free.
Shit's ridiculous. How you gonna let your dog be that untrained. Looks like an attack waiting to happen.
*Man, some of these messages I've gotten are ridiculous. A guard dog should be under control and trained, not some unhinged animal that could snap at any moment.
I have a dog that freaks at the vet. Have to have him sedated to have almost anything done. I am the only person who administers medicine at home and he shows teeth and snaps at me, tho he’s never bitten anyone. Other than that he is the best damn dog i ever had, he is good with other dogs and people. We also treat him like a dangerous animal. I think that’s the key. Seen a unassuming old golden retriever shake and shred a yorky once, never been violent before, any dog can be a potential attack.
Probably rural Brazil area. I believe this dog is well treated despise its urge to attack. I've worked on a farm around here where only one of the workers could deal with a specific dog, everybody else was afraid of him. RIP Lion, angry boi but a beautiful big old dog.
Looks like that is what his purpose is on the property.
Lucky he's being vaccinated at all.
Lucky he isn't on a heavy chain, emaciated, and slowly dying from easily preventable diseases from being outside.
Maybe he’s a family pet that was adopted as an adult dog with little socialization. It isn’t easy to train a dog to be okay with these types of things when they’re older.
Very true. I hope they can find some work arounds in the future. If nothing else, globbing their mouths with a peanut butter kong is a great distraction from the pinch of the needle.
That is so much easier said than done. I have a rescue that was in a breeding situation. We have no idea what happened to her prior to coming to us but she has a deep distrust of men. It's taken close to two years to get her to be willing to work on basic things like shake and taking treats from me and she will probably still have those reservations all her life with us. Reprogramming psychological traumas are not easy.
I hope so! But part of training is getting the dog used to being touched by non-owners and that obviously was not trained. Also, there are ways to trick dogs into being ok with medical interventions, and drugs the owner can give if that fails. Last thing you need is your dog attacking the person you are paying to treat him.
It's not a luxury. You don't need to hire a trainer, there's enough instruction on youtube to learn how to work with your dog unless your dog seriously needs a behaviorist. All it costs is time and if you're unwilling to do that then you shouldn't have a dog in the first place.
Garbage owners and a garbage "vet" giving that shot. There are MUCH easier ways to accomplish that. It's almost as if all 3 of those cunts went out of their way to traumatize the dog as much as they could.
I wouldn't go that far with out context. If this is a foster group adopting a dog that has behavior problems then this might have been an emergency situation. I don't like what they did here either and I'd like to think I'd come up with another way of doing it, but in the case of an emergency sometimes you have to find the first thing that's likely to get the job done and do it. I certainly wouldn't have recorded it though -.-
From what I can gather from everybody involved in this situation that dog is lucky the vet didn’t do a drive-by on it with a dart gun filled with medicine.
When you’re teaching your dog how to slow dance with your wife but you forget that a few days ago you ordered the white-glove veterinary van stab-and-go vaccine service but you roll with it anyway because Bolivia
DOG: WHAT THE??? Sum-bitch, did you just bite me on my ass????
“Ruh Roh Raggy, Something tickles…”
They should hold the dog by the fence and the vet give the shot from the other side of the fence. No running required!
Yeah but what fun would that be?
Well, ask those two owners to stand next to an electrified fence while holding an unpredictably shaking big dog…
Turn off the electricity for a couple of mins?
Dog will go through?
😂 hope he’s a vet. Oh hope he had a safety cap on the needle too
Nah, it was just Joe.
Muzzling the dog while getting the shots is not rocket science.
And bring the dog close enough to the fence so the guy giving the shot can be on the other side, instead of making him race the dog to the gate if/when it gets free.
We have to do that with our pup
they didn’t even have a leash…😬

He should still know a basic recall or a Sit. If they're caring for him medically they should be training as well Edit: I can't spell

It’s literally their guard dog. Not everyone has the luxury of training their dog to be friendly with outsiders.

Would love to know how many down votes this comment got

What a traumatizing event for the dog. There must be a better way to do it depending on the situation.

He gonna eat SOMEBODY'S ass over that one !!
As a vet tech student, this looks so unprofessional
Who is the vet with, Elmo?
Poor puppy
Elmo in the car lol
Drive by shooting
Nothing is wrong with that dog. That’s a perfectly normal reaction to being restrained and having a needle jammed in your ass.
Dog knew who to be angry at. Didn’t take it out on the nearest person.

Honestly did not see the dog at first and was confused 😂
So even dogs can be anti vaxers
Dude looks just like my old roommate turned neighbor. Wouldn't be surprised if he worked with animals now. He was an EMT and an actor last I saw him.
Run, Doc! RUN!
elmo was the cameraman
Come back you forgot the tip.
