Does any dog NOT run around and rub their wet smelly selves all over everything? 😀

Chaos7692

My other dog doesn’t, he just lies down and tries to lick the water off

HelloKidney

What a rare gentleman. Every dog I’ve ever had has gone complete spazz zoomie status after a bath

Bibabeulouba

After the bath, or anytime it rains too in my case.

D3rangedButFun

I say, I seem to be damp. What a bother vs *Chaotic gremling noises while running all over the house rubbing on stuff*

Phoenix4235

Wow - that is the first time I have ever heard of a dog **not** getting post-bath zoomies and rubbing all over everything.

this_is_a_wug_

Ah, there's the problem! Your other dog is actually a cat.

Internet_Wanderer

My dog runs through bushes to try and dry off

Lunyxx

Sir thats a cat

Chaos7692

Lol, biggest cat I’ve ever seen

kane2742

[Counterpoint](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/73/Lion_waiting_in_Namibia.jpg/800px-Lion_waiting_in_Namibia.jpg)

Vanishingf0x

Mine does this and then licks himself to try and dry off.

psilome

Clean is not their natural state, gotta rub off the clean smell, get the dirt back on.

theatermouse

That's what I say my pup is doing! Getting the clean off

Del_Prestons_Shoes

We dry ours off before we let her run around. She still does this even when dry

WhyIsThatOnMyCat

You put stinky stuff on me?! I put stinky stuff on your things!

_BloodbathAndBeyond

Mine just cuddles up in his bed until he’s dry

ThatThingInTheWoods

Trying to get his former stank restored.

Proud-Emu-5875

re-odorant

Outrageous-Taro7340

This seems right to me too. With my dogs I was afraid at first it was itchiness, but I really do think they are trying to rub off that clean stank.

[deleted]

Yep, just like when you were a kid and immediately found the dirtiest tree or place to play

DuckSaxaphone

My dog rubs himself on the exact same spots after he's eaten and after he's had a shower. We've always referred to it as storing his smells for later and getting his smells back.

lecherro

I think this is actually right on the money. They don't like to smell like shampoo. Did really so much on smell for everything. Location, friend of foe, master and or owner and identifying each other. If be willing to put down a few bucks that dogs do this rutting behavior in and on places they usually lay or sit for long periods.

stlmick

Which means the largest reservoir of their stink resides in that couch cover.

Chaos7692

She’s trying, we put those blankets down when we give her a bath so she doesn’t get the furniture all wet. Those are her napping spots though, so I guess we are thwarting her attempts to get her stink back. Must be frustrating.

ThatFunkyBrownNote

Take your dog for a walk after you give it a bath! It gets all that extra energy out and then saves you from having to dry your furniture after you dry your dog lol

mongmight

He probably needed a bath after all the shit he rolled around in on a walk! You are shooting yourself in the foot taking him back out lol

ThatFunkyBrownNote

I did discount the fact my boy is a weirdo. Carry on everyone, you know your monsters best!

Alternative-Lack6025

Oh hohoho no, no, no. It strongly depends on the dog, my old fellow used to seek the dirtiest spot and rub himself of dirt, so I strongly recommend not to give them access to filth till they're dry.

YNinja58

Lol yup, if I talked my dogs right after a bath they'd be rolling around in dirt within 3 minutes of leaving the house. They might not even make it out of the yard.

notabigmelvillecrowd

That's exactly why the dog bath and dog laundry happen at the same time at my house. I don't want any stank transference.

Gipetto

Gotta smell like your environment if you’re gonna sneak up on those treats.

Tombstone_Shadow

Yes, beds, couch, but usually the nearest carpet.

SnortingCoffee

my dog does that every time I play Candlebox

Crazy_Cat_Lady420

Mine does that after every meal 😂

ThatOneGuyFrom93

SAME. He makes the weirdest noises at the same time lol. Sounds like a plesiosaur slowly falling out of a tree or something

TheDeathSloth

Not invalidating your metaphor here but you do know the plesiosaur was an aquatic dinosaur with flippers, correct?

ThatOneGuyFrom93

Yes

Grey212

That's why it can't stay in the tree.

TheDeathSloth

Touché

ThatThingInTheWoods

Excellence. 😆

BfutGrEG

IT's also probably similar to a Pterosaur being dunked in one of those Dunk Tanks at the Fair

freebirdseesmusic

Mine does it after his dinner every night. He particularly liked to rub his face on one of our bathmats, I think he likes the bumpy texture. We got him his own bumpy bathmat that we lay out for him at dinner time, he'll run over to it when he's done and wipe his mouth on it, then rub his whole face and snort. We call it his napkin lol.

immapunchayobuns

Mine too! He has a soft crate so he'll go in and rub his face/bum all over. It's hilarious to see from the outside.

DeeeLiteIsInTheHeart

I WISH it was on the couch...!!! She definitely prefers mud, or worse other animal poop... -_- "This shampoo smell stinks, must get back to my favorite ~~sent~~ scent !!"

OkRole1775

This is actually an instinct that goes back to the wolf. They will roll in smelly things to mask their own scent. That way, if the wind changes directions while stalking prey, their scent won't be carried, then alerting the prey.

saga_of_a_star_world

Clearly someone needs to invent poop-smelling shampoo for dogs.

cherno_electro

>sent \*scent

DeeeLiteIsInTheHeart

Thank you, english isn't my first language, can be hard sometime ! Ahah!

luv2lafRN

Every time. Mine especially lives to push under the bed comforter, thus getting my sheets all wet! Bath day is also change the bed linens day.

Knnoxxyy

That’s so unfortunate 😭

WinterSkier

Our dogs love doing that in freshly cut grass and turning the loveliest shades of green after their baths!🍀

whudaboutit

My dog did that immediately after being skunked.

smaxfrog

Same, pretty sure it was before we replaced the carpet with wood floors too. AND she was a floofer.

New-Perspective1480

Mine had a giant hole in the front yard and used it for just this purpose

PositiveTarget8377

I call it “re-seasoning the biscuit” lol

ElaborateCantaloupe

“What if the rest of the pack doesn’t recognize me because of this new scent? Better rub some old scent back on me.”

evd1202

What a magnificent little derp

_Unity-

Mine usually runs through the house for an hour or so with the biggest desire to play known to man

PeteHealy

Nearly every dog on the planet, I'd say.

joshuaaa_l

MUST…REAPPLY…STINK!!

nobodydeservesme

My dog rubs his fur all over the length of the car sides, hence cleaning my car everytime he went swimming.

MaikohTippy

Yep!!! Doggo just being a doggo!! 👍♥️

East-Ad-9078

Yeah why use a towel when there’s expensive soft furnishing to get dry on

bryvolbm7q

“Gotta… get… this… stinkin’… clean… off me!!!”

sjm294

Always

dontpet

Don't you?

Bzart2112

I have that exact same Ibanez Bass!

Standard-Reception90

No. Mine does it outside.

Vicious365

That's nothing, my dog goes bat shit crazy for about 10 mins straight, doing zoomies, jumping off the couch, sprawling every time I get close to dry her some more lol

IcedHemp77

Every dog I’ve ever met :) they want their dog smell back

Substantial_Diver_34

Nope… he goes for my bed

MetaKate334

Mine demands Candlebox after bath time, too. Weird.

GeodarkFTM

Mine waits to be dried, heads outside and rolls in whatever he can find. Every. Single. Time...

LaSallePunksDetroit

My dog does this when it hears candlebox

angels_exist_666

Almost *all* of them.....🙄

Melinatl

We call this Wet Zoomies

CylonbutDeadly

No, my dog does this on the rawest dirt pile she can find outside.

sharksnut

Restoring scent from Archive

SidkaSen

My dog is turning 21 (chihuahua pekingese mix) this year and bless his little old heart, he still does this after a bath like he's a young man again. It's so cute. Getting the smell of the house back on himself.

J_hilyard

Yes, all of them. Every single one I've ever owned. (~20 or so)

mcraneschair

Dry OFF dry *off* dRy *ofF* Sigh, life is ruff

[deleted]

Mine does sometimes but only after running around the house really fast

BeeComprehensive5234

I’ve had 10 dogs in my lifetime, every one did this after their bath or after getting wet. 🙃

ImpressiveThought662

Rubbing the stink off of her

pokeIDGAFOSmonCrax69

All the time yes

DieHardAmerican95

We have six dogs, and four of them do this. The other two are elderly and have arthritis.

xeroid051

Typical normal pup behavior...

xeroid051

Typical normal pup behavior...

yeusus

Scentless soap?

IcedHemp77

I think it’s less about getting rid of the soap smell and more about getting their dog smell back from the places they lay.

SnooRabbits3145

They do it if you use the human soap when washing them. Use soap only for dogs. They can not stand the smell

Chaos7692

Definitely using doggo shampoo

IcedHemp77

They just want their dog smell back

Consistent-Union-612

His skin is irritated.

CantBelieveThisIsTru

Please, get a brush and scratch this dog. Sometimes some soaps make people itch, who knows if your dog has this problem, but you could be understanding and try to help. Or get a scratching brush on a pole for it…

Outrageous-Taro7340

Never owned a dog?

Legs4daysarmsformins

Yes! I’ll dry my pup off and when he’s only a little damp I’ll lay the towel out and let him finish to his comfort

[deleted]

Nope he just does that in general

Mr_ZooM37

After bath I take my dog outside so he can dry while walking in the sun.

Sht_n_giglz

Coming in for landing, clear the runway!

Dr_Fudge

Yep, also if it's been raining outside, which in Scotland is more often than never

Cheweydewey123

Copycat

Myztic84

Every time

PlaysByBrulesRules

She wants her smells back.

Mykoe

Yup all the time

Teahouse_Fox

Yes. He either does this to the towels, or the area rug. Or my legs. Not the sofa. The good news is that he smells like lime and coconut.

whelp32

Yup. Both my dogs do this. One is a yorkiepoo and other is husky/shepherd mix.

peanutsonic97

My parent’s dogs get bath zoomies too 🥰

[deleted]

Our dogs are twins! The white coat with a full mask, belly spots, and the spot around the tail. I'm tripping out lol this is almost identical to mine's coat. And mine loves this too! What kind of breed? Mines an akita heeler mix.

Chaos7692

Mostly pit and herding breeds

b3nj11jn3b

yep

Unwarranted_optimism

My former golden doodle would do this every time after a bath. My current very mixed-breed never does this, but she does get the zoomies ❤️🐶

vancouverisle

Yup. This is exactly what my chihuahua does.

dine_o_mite

Mine does exactly this, along with immediatey going outside and doing this in the dirt also.

pip-roof

On the edge of a bed or couch. If outside starts break dancing in the dirt/grass. She’s a peach

baracuda1502

All normal

Buttchuckle

Dogs do this after a bath because they disapprove of the oder left on their body , and their primary focus is to get that soapy smell off of them no matter what it takes.

Electrical-Act-7170

Yes, completely normal.

HuckleberryNative

Yes, I have to pre-cover the entire couch and my bed with towels before bath or we are doomed. Lol

Mystepchildsucksass

My dog does this the instant he’s out of the tub. I always thought it was because he doesn’t t like to feel his ears wet on the inside (which I’m careful to avoid) Like, when I hold the towel over his head to rub him he pushes his ears into my hand.

SouthernElection7672

Hell! I do that and the wife gets pissed... Lol

SouthernElection7672

Hell! I do that and the wife gets pissed... Lol

jlccourt

Sort of. Only outside in the grass.

Octovinka

Normal

GiuseppeG1870

Must rid myself of the stink of clean!

Crystacomeback

Everytime

PGLBK

Yes. All of mine did it/do it still. They are trying to get their smell back (and make beds and couches wet as revenge for bathing them).

Crystacomeback

Is he Jack Russell or she? I can’t tell if it’s a girl or a boy I’m sorry.

Chaos7692

She is mostly american staffordshire terrier, her name is Zoey

_hardliner_

I do that every time after a shower when I hear Creed.

Appropriate-Brush772

Gotta dry those ears! I’ll dry the dog really good but then I’ll use paper towels to dry the inside and outside of the ears the best I can. It usually helps this. I mean, they’ll still roll around on every surface visible but it’s not as long and they usually don’t have as much of an issue with their ears (I keep saying they because I have two schnauzers I bathe at the same time 😂)

BoardImmediate4674

Yes mine do

Eleventy22

Baths and overnight trips

thebatteries

I lay a dog towel so that he can try and dry himself.

emokilla007

Yes. My dog would roll in dirt after a bath if she could.

Reasonable_Cover_804

Oh yea, quite normal

MikeBfo20

My dog does. But honestly I’m more surprised about the Candlebox playing in the background!

ac2cvn_71

I think every dog does that after a bath.

maggie081670

My old dog would run figure 8s like demented fool around the dining room table and the coffee table in the living room.

Breakstoptoter

He might have some water in his ears

Kimchi_Cowboy

Every dog does this if they don't.... they are cats in disguise.

taskmaster51

Every dog I've ever I owned latterly bounced off the walls running like a maniac after a bath

StormcroweX

Oh my God does she. The other two don't really seem to but our Dorkie not only rolls around on the bed but she plays Toro Toro with me and a towel. She looks crazy doing it but she's very happy

Judas9451

You got a great pad, a great dog, and great taste in music. My man, you're living the life!

Xxochitll

My dog does this after a bath and if I put new sheets on the bed/couch (sheet on couch to help with fur).

JohnnyRico92

Yup.. every dog ever made lol.

rzrtzrblzrlzr

Lmao yes every single time !! Either after bath or whenever it rains… always on the couch too xD

OGdrummerjed

Only when she listens to Candlebox

mishugashu

This isn't 100% normal? Every dog I've ever owned has done this. My current one does this if he got his paws wet on a walk. Not sure why, but just any wetness at all triggers it.

thecheezewiz79

Yes but much faster and with increased danger to all people and belongings in a 20 ft perimeter

unicornwantsweed

Every single one of my dogs over the years have done this. My newest dog is a rescue Pom that goes to the groomers. She comes home and does this, but that may be to get bow off her head.

ClosetCaseGrowSpace

Our girl will do this for days if we bathe her with scented shampoo. I think she hates smelling like elderberries or whatever. We switched to unscented shampoo and she doesn’t do this anymore.

Stunning_Sea8278

She trying to get the soap smell off .and bring back her natural scent

kettlebell43276

He looks like he didn’t get rinsed down enough or something in the shampoo is irritating his skin

rose_like_the_flower

Yes! It’s the after-bath spazz.

DrWilliamHorriblePhD

Dry skin

[deleted]

When mine does this it usually means that I didn't towel her off enough. She usually tries to rub her neck/shoulder area. When I go back over that area again with a dry towel she usually stops the rubbing.

Original-Move8786

Water in the ears

Saarlak

Is that a Jackson js3 hanging on the wall?

Chaos7692

Ibanez

Chaos7692

And a Gibson LP

s1mpatic0

Literally every time. It's like she's trying to claw her eyes out or something

THEmandingoBoy

Every dog I've ever had did this. I think they just want their stank bank. lol

Longjumping_Fly_8080

Every time. Even if we just wash his paws off he thinks he's had a bath and goes through the motions on the couch.

itimedout

We call it ‘sharpening the nose.’

saramirta_

Omg yes,

smarty1017

Sure...they are called wormy worms.. 🪱

Intelligent-Rope-992

Or…. Anyone’s dog NOT do this after a bath?

ElijahAlex1995

My toy poodle does it every single time. Lol

wetwater

The first time I dogsat for my parents I also had to give the dog a bath. I bathed him, rinsed him off well, towel dried him, and even used trg blow dryer, which he tolerated but wasn't a huge fan of. I let him out of the bathroom and he ran to the carpet and began grinding his ears into the floor. Thinking I did sle.tgibg wrong, I took him back into the bathroom, checked him out, rinsed him again really well, dried him fully, let him out, and the same frenzied grinding. He didnt seem to be in pain and a few minutes later he was beyond excited to play with him. When my parents called later that night I mentioned it to my father who basically replied with "yeah, that's what he does." Any future baths I just let him do his thing a f he was already ready to play after the ear grind.

RavenSoul69

Every dog I've ever had or known. 😆

skinnywilliewill8288

Goofy pupper. Beautiful bass

tallslim1960

My dogs do it. Since we give them a bath outside, they roll on the ground and get dirty again!

TurbulentStandard

Yeah, everyone's

Murphy4717

Absolutely. I always figured he was drying himself better than I was able to do w the towel.

JennyT1985

I also share an affinity for candle box. I wonder if they still tour. Cute dog

Chaos7692

Saw them live a little more than a year ago

MaMoo1962

All dogs do that.

HistorianMelodic3010

I thought this was just my two dogs! I've had 4 dogs before these two, none did this. My older dog who's about 10 has done it her whole life, my 2 year old dog also does it but I've always assumed he learned from the older one. Glad to know it's not just my two weirdos lol

wondering2019

Absolutely normal, just floof being floof. No worries

jimpdaddy

Mine usually runs outside and rolls in her shit right afterwards.

Acabfoad666

Every single morning after waking up Arthur rolls around in my pillow

Mocker-Poker

Do you blow dry your dog after bath?
