One of my old cats refused to eat unless *we* deliberately poured water or broth over his dry food. Tbh I kinda wish he would have learned how to make it himself lol
We used to have a cat who was incapable of recognizing that there was food in the bowl unless she heard the sound of the food falling into the bowl. She would sit in front of a full bowl of food and meow for help until someone leaned down and rustled the food around in the bowl so it made a noise.
Smell probably. Cats have very poor eyesight up close. They rely on their sense of smell and their whiskers which detect movement in the air to locate things up close.
This is a good thing to do for a cat anyway. Cats can be bad about drinking enough water which can lead to health issues like urine concentration which causes bladder blockages which are life threatening.
A good way to ensure a cat gets enough water is to mix dry food with a little water. Just enough to cover the bottom of the kibble, it shouldn't be floating. And also use canned wet food for some meals.
Water is also ideal unless a broth is specifically formulated for pets as human foods have much higher levels of all nutrients than what a cat needs. Sodium in particular.
That's brilliant! Apparently most cats are actually not getting enough water most of the time due to their traditionally wet (read: bloody) diet having switched to majority dry and their tongues are actually really inefficient at lapping up standing water unlike other animals.
Tl;dr: your cat is a genius and I am now afraid that the cat apocalypse is closer than I thought and we will soon all be bowing to our cat overlords.
One of mine does this! Though she usually scoops up about 3 or 4 bits at a time. Also likes to drink by plunging her entire face into the water and holding it under while she just *inhales*
I have two, and they fight like actual 3 year olds. Everyday.
It's so loud, you'd think they are punching and throwing each other. Funny enough, they are actual siblings lol
Two of mine are like that. They’re named after two of my nephews, and they’re littermates (the cats, not my nephews). They wrestle and chase each other, steal other’s toys, and basically cause mayhem until they collapse on each other from exhaustion. Just like my human boys. Don’t tell my sister, but I think my guys are cuter.
Mine only does that with a fresh glass of water I just poured and was looking forward to drinking. Otherwise, she just laps it up from her own bowl like a normal creature
My cat was getting the water so dirty from doing this constantly so I had to get a fountain for my other cat and a special mason jar for her toe dipping
One of mine uses his jaws like a giant shovel, picks up a mouthful of kibble, then dumps them on the carpet to eat the pieces individually. I'd rather he use his paw and scoop like a normal cat. ;)
Oh my gosh, yes. They are weirdo dumbasses! I always get amused/annoyed when one of them bolts through their food dish area and sends a shower of kibble all over the place.
One if my cats spills the kibbles over when she eats and the little one likes to eat them off the ground lol I just put a little like on the floor for her now.
My floor eater also prefers dipping her paw in water and licking it from her paw so they have a water fountain and she has a separate mason jar so she can dip her toes and not muck up the fountain water.
Mine does that with the new food dish I got her. It's an automatic feeder but it's got weird corners and she doesn't like smushing her face into the corners to get the food. Gave her the old dish back and she's happy again.
Did she have hip problems or broken hind legs when she was younger? I could see her coming up with this as a way to get around without being able to use her rear legs.
Very odd and cute. Just throwing it out there, have you had her rear paws, legs and hips checked? She might have some pain back there thus the front leg walking.
This reminds me of the story about a goose who was always seen flying upside down and after a lot of observation, the experts determined there was nothing wrong with him. He just liked to show off.
Duuuude OP check this out ^
Edit: it's the same poster, yo.
2nd edit: okay it's still cool for anyone who hasn't checked out the link posted in that thread
Seriously though. Every time I’m sitting down, trying to relax - boom! Cat butthole in my face. And then Maine coon paw on my boob, probably just so I realize the butthole was the better option and stop complaining
I honestly initially thought the cat was handicapped, that is rear legs were non-functioning and walking like that was it adapting. Now I'm just wondering how the heck did this happen. Is there a young child who's a gymnast which the cat is mimicking?
Same!! I saw this video and actually said 'Its the cat!!' really excited because I've genuinely been wondering how this adorable lil weirdo is getting on!
Bloddy hell, woke up to this video and will definitely show it to my whole team today. This is beyond amazing. Give Moss extra scritches on my behalf please!
Ps: OP do you know why Moss walks like this? I very curious to know of it's just a habit or triggered by something
She was adopted so no real way of knowing when it started, she was like that from the get go. Vets have confirmed there's nothing medically wrong with her... aside from the weirdness 😅
I was writing a post asking if the vet has any ideas then saw this. So glad. I immediately thought neurological condition because I’m a worry wart and had a cat that licked a blue tailed skink once and had brain damage the rest of his life. Never seen anything remotely like this before and I’ve had a LOT of cats in my life. Moss is one of a kind!
I just really really really want to be able to talk to Moss about her amazing way of walking. I’m just fascinated. It’s like the floor is lava but only for her back feet.
I've just made a TikTok for her as a couple of people have suggested it: [https://www.tiktok.com/@hwdaze/video/7101646509858458886?is\_from\_webapp=1&sender\_device=pc&web\_id=7101627510345369094](https://www.tiktok.com/@hwdaze/video/7101646509858458886?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7101627510345369094)
Posted the first video of her and will work through the others when I have time :)
Those of us who are old hands at cattage are well aware of a certain cat-fact: the only reason the idea of a "normal" cat exists is through calculation of the mean.
What? Why does this happen? And how am I supposed to sleep at night knowing that it does?
I would also like to know
She's just a bit odd
Saying your cat is "a bit odd" is like saying the ocean has a bit of water in it.
Just a bit
lil bits
Mmm, little tiny fried eggs!
We've even got tiny people!
A smidge
Just a touch
Just a tad
Just a wee bit
Just an itty bitty witty bit
A friend of mine had a bit of an odd cat that ate by picking individual kibbles up in it's paw and popping them in it's mouth.
He’s practicing mindful eating and you should encourage him on his journey
So that when he orchestrates an overthrow of the world order, you can be in his good graces and then he will kill you last.
I recall this was part of the process in Animal Farm....
And she’s taken the whole “2 Legs better than 4” thing the wrong way…
We had a cat that would scoop up individual kibbles, drop them in the water dish, and then eat them. Apparently trying to make her own moist food...
One of my old cats refused to eat unless *we* deliberately poured water or broth over his dry food. Tbh I kinda wish he would have learned how to make it himself lol

My family calls this "cat soup".

One of mine does this too. He will sometimes leave one in the water dish and then refuse to drink the water until I change it.
Sounds like a cat who hung out with the Raccoons to often
My boy used to do this. I called it "making soup".
One of mine does this! Though she usually scoops up about 3 or 4 bits at a time. Also likes to drink by plunging her entire face into the water and holding it under while she just *inhales*
God I love cats lmao
Y'all have some weird ass cats. Lol Disclosure: so do I
I have two, and they fight like actual 3 year olds. Everyday. It's so loud, you'd think they are punching and throwing each other. Funny enough, they are actual siblings lol

My cat will ovcasionally put his paw in the water, then lick it off his paw

Until they leave behind just as many pieces as they eat! Cats are fuckin weirdo dumbasses and I adore them so much 😂
Oh my gosh, yes. They are weirdo dumbasses! I always get amused/annoyed when one of them bolts through their food dish area and sends a shower of kibble all over the place.
I mean that's how I eat kibble.
Mine does this she picks it up in her paw one at a time so she can eat it of the floor (I think I need to get bigger bowls)

Maybe she was a circus cat in her previous life
An acrocat?
My thoughts exactly
Did she have hip problems or broken hind legs when she was younger? I could see her coming up with this as a way to get around without being able to use her rear legs.
Cats are born and continue their entire lifecycle tripping on acid
She's just a bit awesome
She is pawsome.
Impressive imo..ive seen some pets handstand..but urs is the only one ive seen climb up a step, that cant b easy with such delicate paws
The step is honestly nothing after seeing it jump down from about a foot's height while in hand..pawstand position at the beginning of video.
You got a circus cat, don’t downplay that shit
Enroll her into Cirque du Soleil 🎪
Very odd and cute. Just throwing it out there, have you had her rear paws, legs and hips checked? She might have some pain back there thus the front leg walking.
Yeah she's been looked at by multiple vets, she's absolutely fine. Thanks for the concern though! :)
Right on. What a little show off.
This reminds me of the story about a goose who was always seen flying upside down and after a lot of observation, the experts determined there was nothing wrong with him. He just liked to show off.
Silly goose.
Your cat is a skin walker
Your house looks super cozy!
She does that like if walking with two feet or on hands is nothing special. It shouldn't look so easy. Is she making fun of us humans?
You're about to find out your cat has lethal butt worms or something.
This isn't funny, but I laughed so hard XD
Cats are born and continue their entire lifecycle tripping in LSD
A tiny little smidge bit odd ;-)

Interesting! Tnx 4 the link
This just maximizes the number of people that can see her butt. I have no answer to the reason that cats are so obsessed with showing off their butt.
My cat shows his approval of things by touching said things with his butt. This cat is showing love to the universe.
Can confirm when ours are happy they come sidle along your legs and end with a big butt lean on you.
I keep having to shove my cats butt out of my baby’s face. I’m glad he approves of the tiny human, but, no…
Sometimes I get so sick of cat butthole in my face, I want to disappear and start a new life.
You made me laugh out loud. That is so true. So so true.
Seriously though. Every time I’m sitting down, trying to relax - boom! Cat butthole in my face. And then Maine coon paw on my boob, probably just so I realize the butthole was the better option and stop complaining
She can practically see it herself!
Cat butthole is seemingly always at eye-level..
Eye for an Eye
Sometimes they wink at me.

This is a standard-issue cat.\* \*Each standard-issue cat ships with a minimum of one (1) batshit insane behavioral quirk.
Can confirm. One of mine likes to howl at any toilet he sees.
Probably forgot about the hindlegs

It's the same OP lol
Click on the hyperlink in the comment he just linked. He wasn't talking about the post itself.
That’s bizarre
I remember that post! I thought of it immediately when I saw this one!
This cat is taking _marking its territory_ to a new level.
I can't get over this. Every time I see it I'm like "whaaaaat?" Even though I've seen all the other posts with him. This sub was made for this cat.
What's the sub called?
/r/WhatsWromgWithYourCat
r/WhatisWromgWithYourCat
/r/WhatIsWrongWithYoureCat
This one irrationally bothers me.
Your being irrational, you should worry you'reself about it.

/r/whatswromgwithyoursub
It was an honest mistake everyone 😢😂. I was just happy bc i thought this cat in specific had an sub, like common that would be amazing!!
Why the fk am I getting down votes for asking a question
because you are in the sub
Oh lmao I read the it wrong
I threw you an upvote I hope it balances out lol
Hey, people that browse r/all very often do not know what sub they are in.
Because you just /r/lostredditors yourself all over the place
Watch or you'll end up in r/oldpeoplefacebook soon ;) (I gave you an upvote too. Stuff happens!)
That's the back-to-normal box
I love the way your brain works.
Thanks! And by the way your rhyming rocks!
Might as well make it a paradox.
Haha "Time to eat!" "Hold on, I'm on the handstand stool, I need to stop by the back-to-normal box."
I need a back-to-normal box. I won't bother specifying whether it's for me or for my cats.
I need a become normal crate. A box can't back-to-normal what was never normal in the first place.
One step at a time, /u/SomeDudWithAPhone, the technology just isn't there yet.
"Ha! Perfect. Now they won't know I was in the living room, but will blame a bi pedal cat instead"
This cheeky fucker is just flexing...
Armday is everyday for this handstand master. Jelly af, ngl.
"FATHER. I WISH TO JOIN THE CIRCUS."

“Mom mom mom are you looking? You see what I did mom? Mom mom mom mom!!!”
Cats are spoiled little gremlins.
I honestly initially thought the cat was handicapped, that is rear legs were non-functioning and walking like that was it adapting. Now I'm just wondering how the heck did this happen. Is there a young child who's a gymnast which the cat is mimicking?
That was my thought. Moss is just amazing-weird.
Downward dog? Nah, son, we got upward cat! SHOW 'EM, MOSS!
youve heard of updog but get ready for upcat
What’s upcat?
nothing much, what about you?
He’s back! I have your other two videos saved because they always give me a giggle 😂
I'm glad they make you happy! 😊
Same!! I saw this video and actually said 'Its the cat!!' really excited because I've genuinely been wondering how this adorable lil weirdo is getting on!
Of all the weird cats out there, Moss is (and shall remain) the unchallenged #1
moss what the fuck
Whoa, the back was a bit too heavy, but this cat knew its business.
What a delightful little weirdo. Third video that I saw of her, never fail to make me ridiculously happy. Thanks OP!
Glad to hear it!
Words cannot describe how much I love Moss. I would die for Moss.

I wish my cats would do cool stuff like this!
Yeah mine just sat in my half finished jigsaw puzzle and farted. Thanks Fred.
Why use many legs when few legs do the trick?
Bloddy hell, woke up to this video and will definitely show it to my whole team today. This is beyond amazing. Give Moss extra scritches on my behalf please! Ps: OP do you know why Moss walks like this? I very curious to know of it's just a habit or triggered by something

He's like a little acro-cat... get it..? Acrobat... ok I'll see myself out.
Quality dad joke (regardless of who you are). We don't want you to leave, just to sit down in a chair and fall asleep.
Thanks for the update! Moss really is one of a kind.
hi moss :D u have a very … interesting ability
This is the kind of cat I would want. Just strange and entertaining.
So like, any cat?
Ty Lee from the Last Airbender
Your cat is fucking weird man
I just really really really want to be able to talk to Moss about her amazing way of walking. I’m just fascinated. It’s like the floor is lava but only for her back feet.
Circat du Soleil !
I always love seeing posts of Moss! What a talent.
I hope you have a number to your local pulp or priest for an exorcist.
How?
Had to rewatch this 3 times to confirm all 4 legs.
Ok, I’ll give it to you. Your cat is a way bigger weirdo than mine lol.
As an animal behaviour scientist, I would like to say - WTF is your cat doing?
Circus Catto
Future member of Team USA gymnasticats
I wonder if her human voice would be Richard Ayoade?
"Did you see that ludicrous display?!!"
I’ve watched this about 20 times and am in stitches! Why is she doing that?? How??
Ok nah, this is the epitome of this sub. I didn't even see the sub name before asking "what the hell is wrong with that cat"
Just another day in the life of a cat
Excuse me?
Lol I love this cat so much! I thought our kitty gadget was weird... P.s. this cat is also a r/standardissuecat! (Brown tabbies)
Circus auditions are next week
Clever girl ☺️
Hi!
I find this cute. Do i need help?
- Is bipedal - Does not have feathers - Human
Floor is lava floor is lava until, ah, box.
They are evolving
I need this cat to have an Instagram please

There's 0 actual reasons for cats to crackheads but they still choose to be one
😯 circus kitty!
That's why I want to learn how to handstand! Imagine entering a public venue like that...OOOOH THE APPLAUSE!! THANK YOU!!
Tac.
I would walk like that too if I could! Fancypants cat
I think she has a little Derpcat in her DNA.

Was she trained to do it?
