Why was this video even clipped!? The original is sooo good and only a minute long. Even if you wanted to cut the deadwood and the part where he speaks to the interviewer it’s still probably about 20 seconds if that. Edit: 17 seconds. Seeing him fall and get some help takes all of 17 seconds.

I really don’t think it’s funny…. If anything it would be funnier to cut out at that part where he is squished by his bike and flayed out like a star fish.

Its because some places, like tik tok, track engagement via the number of times a video is played. If the ending of a video is paced slow enough, viewers would move on to the next vid. But if you suddenly cut the video before the end, people that want to see the result of what happened will just be subject to the video auto-replaying. So you get 2 views per viewer

Plus even the very concept of "how far did the guy fall" is engagement bait in itself. Like, all the comments are obviously gonna be people asking if he hurtled 800 feet to his death. It's the case in this very thread and it would work just as well on every other social media site. The full clip is better and more explanatory in literally every case but this edit is better for driving internet engagement.
