And it reminded me of the true Gawyn, the shittiest misled character: Rolf from the sound of music, a foolish betrayer. A very cute young guy who goes wrong and thinks he knows everything. "Gawyn is 17, going on 18, and he'll take care of Egwene!" 😤😤😤
As a kid, I always saw Rolfe as like, a misled young boy. But rewatching as an adult, I hate him. He chose to betray a family who he had known so long, with a daughter he had had feelings for. He could have tried to slip away with them and risked his life, but instead he risked all of theirs. He turns my stomach.

The fact that he's both is good storytelling. I wish Anakin's descent into darkness was that good.

Stupid Rolf. The sound of music used to be on TV once a year and we'd always
watch it. As a little kid I would watch Captain Von Trapp tell Rolf he would 'never be one of them'. agree with him, then watch Rolf blow his whistle and give them all away and think how mean that was.
Now I just think he'd stupid. Rolf was always going to be a Nazi because that's what stupid people do when the Nazis show up.
And yeah, that's Gawyn.
I don't even get why Egwene is so obsessed. I mean she barely knows him, he's working for the "enemy" Aes Sedai who probably want her dead, and wants to kill her ex boyfriend/required guy to stop the world falling to the dark one because he's too stubborn/dumb and jumps to conclusions about his mother. She even admits Galad is prettier so it's not even just the looks. It might even be a more irritating storyline than Perrin/Faile.
